At 144000 miles all vehicle lights came on and vehicle engine would shake and vibrate. Computer said misfire on cylinder three. Changed spark plugs and coil. Problem still persisted. Mechanic recommended replacing fuel injectors so i did. After injectors were replaced all the lights came back on and the car runs worse. I believe its a blown head gasket now and the mechanic is testing the head this week.

Subject: Formal Complaint – Unresolved Safety Issues Following Recall Service (2018 Honda Accord) I am submitting a formal complaint regarding ongoing and unresolved safety issues with my 2018 Honda Accord, which began during the time frame of a fuel pump recall and have not been properly resolved despite multiple attempts with Honda service departments. Approximately two years ago, my vehicle was subject to a fuel pump recall. During the extended wait period for the replacement part, my vehicle began displaying multiple warning messages and experiencing performance issues. These issues included reduced acceleration and erratic driving behavior. Once the recall repair was completed, I was informed that an additional repair—a battery sensor replacement—was necessary, which cost approximately $800 out of pocket. Despite completing both the recall repair and the recommended sensor replacement, my vehicle has not operated properly since that time. Currently, the vehicle intermittently displays multiple system warnings, including but not limited to: - Emission system problem - Brake system and brake hold system problems - Electric power steering problem (reduced steering assist) - Vehicle stability and traction control warnings - Adaptive cruise control system problem - Collision mitigation braking system problem - Road departure mitigation system problem In addition, the vehicle frequently enters a reduced power or “limp mode,” making it difficult to accelerate safely, particularly at lower speeds. Restarting the vehicle temporarily resolves the issue, but the warnings and performance problems return shortly after. I have brought this vehicle to Honda service departments on multiple occasions. The vehicle was held for extended periods without resolution, and I ultimately had to retrieve it without a clear diagnosis or repair plan. I also contacted American Honda for assistance and did not receive meaningful support.

Pulling out in front of High Speed Traffic, Engine went into Safe Mode with Check Engine Light. Fortunately a car at high speed avoided rear ending my car. Upon evaluation, DTC Code P0303 (Cylinder 3 - Misfire) was present. Coils and Spark Plugs were changed but car was still misfiring. Honda has a Warranty for 150k/ 10 year on Fuel Injectors but this VIN was not on list based on Honda Service Department. The Honda Service Department evaluated and Car has Head Gasket Leak in Cylinder 3. This is a widely known problem reported on many Honda Owner websites and Honda Service acknowledged it was an issue but is not a “Recall” despite the potential Safety Risk on the Road when car goes in to Protect / Shutdown Mode. The nature of this issue occurring on a well maintained car with 147k miles that is 8 years old and not being a Recall and a Safety related item is being reported by me as me and my family could have been impacted by a rear end collision as car shut down / protect mode. This could and likely has occurred to other owners and possibly attributed to accidents and Safety of passengers. Honda wants over $11k to repair the car which includes Fuel Injectors / Plugs / Coils / New Head as they reflect old head can’t be used even if machined / Head Gasket. This issue is a Safety related issue and should be a Honda Recall as the Head Bolts are a known design issue causing premature failure of the Head Gasket. Submitting this to document my incident, protect the public driving this model and year and hopefully providing information to warrant a recall so that all repairs will be performed under Recall Warranty. Also to protect the public from a Honda Accord Safety issue for 2018 Honda Accord LX.

I do have a warranty but when I called Honda they said it wasn't covered The shop I took it to charged me 4100 dollars for a blown head gasket which from researching it looks like this is happening to all 2018 Honda accords This is low mileage and unacceptable , turns out after I called and told Honda they refused to pay because I had already had the shop look for the problem So I had to pay 4100 for an issue Honda clearly knows about This is unfair and Honda needs to fix this issue

In 2018 Honda Accord with the 1.5-liter, four-cylinder turbo engine that had a head gasket fail at 110k miles which has been diagnosed and confirmed by local Honda dealer with misfire codes/counts on cylinder 1 due to coolant leaking inside cylinder 1 and 2 due to this bad head gasket. Due to the bad head gasket and coolant leaking into cylinders, this caused the fuel injectors to clog and fail. Creating rough idling and poor engine performance, which could cause car to stall at any point, creating a safety concern for those in the car if stalled/stuck on public roads. On June 13, 2025, the fuel pump was replaced due to a recall. After the fuel pump was replaced and, in particular, after reading the Honda forums for this car, all the warning lights in the instrument cluster came on. After my mechanic checked my car and, with his knowledge of this type of vehicle, he recommended replacing the fuel injectors at 86,000 miles. Honda recommends replacing the fuel injectors at 1000 k. I made an appointment with Tameron Honda of Birmingham on 3/26/26. As soon as I pulled up to Honda dealership the engine light was on. The company was trying to bill me 6100 dollars for fixing the car. I do not have that amount on hand and I need my car. I had to drive my car away from the dealership while it was in idle mode state into traffic the car moved so slowly that I could have wrecked. Safety was affected by going into limp mode instantly turning left onto 55 mph 4 lane road, no warning lights prior going into limp mode. Brief misfire occurred prior to incident, (did not know at time because it did not seem significant and no warning light). A 2018 Honda Accord 1.5T developed an engine misfire, coolant loss, and reduced acceleration shortly after purchase from a dealership on 01/07/2026 (around 156,000 miles / 15,000). On 01/23/2026, during a Honda dealer inspection at about 157,255 miles, the technician noted misfires on startup, found the coolant overflow reservoir empty, pressure-tested the system, and confirmed coolant leaking into cylinders 3 and 4 from the head gasket. The dealer recommended head gasket replacement plus spark plugs, drive belt, and valve adjustment. I was told that continued driving could worsen the condition, leading to overheating and further engine damage. After that diagnosis, the vehicle’s drivability worsened, and it became unsafe to rely on due to misfires and loss of acceleration, especially on the highway. The selling dealership refused to assist, claiming the defect was not present at the time of sale; Honda America acknowledged the head gasket concern but denied a goodwill claim, citing the high cost of the issue and lack of NHTSA enforcement on this issue. An independent repair shop then provided a second inspection/estimate consistent with the same head-gasket repair scope. The vehicle and repair records are available for inspection. No crash or injury occurred, but the defect caused a sudden loss of power and overheating while driving; I was stuck on the highway on two occasions with my hazard lights on after acceleration completely halted. Warning symptoms (the engine light) only appeared when the car suddenly stopped accelerating. Two days after an around-5,000 headgasket repair, drivability problems and multiple dashboard warnings appeared, including turbo-related concerns; this concern is ongoing.

I was driving and all the lights on the dash board came on. Including the engine light. I took the vehicle to the dealership service center and they said the turbo function of my engine was failing. and it was still covered under warranty so they fixed that. One day after the picking it up all the lights came back on. I took it back and they stated that the fuel injectors are failing thus causing engine misfires resulting in the engine light coming back on and the car randomly stalling or slowing. They indicated that the fuel injectors are NOT covered and repairs are around 2,400.00, I believe this should be covered because there was a previous recall on the fuel on the fuel pump (which is connected to the injectors). Also I don't understand how the "turbo" was still covered under warranty but the injectors are not. Upon doing my research this is a known problem on this make and model and Honda should correct the known defect.

It appears to be either the fuel pump or fuel injectors, at certain times of acceleration the car stops accelerating, the engine light blinks, I have to shut the car off and restart it. It seems like if I slow my car down then try to accelerate, like going through a roundabout or sitting in stop and go traffic really seems to set the problem off. I took it to a Honda dealership a couple years ago and they informed me it was fuel injectors but they were not in stock, they assured me the car was fine to drive, I called a couple times to ask if they had gotten the part, they sternly told me they would call me, anyways they never called me and it still happens, there is a recall out for other 2018 Honda Accords that seem to have a similar problem. All my lights are constantly on due to this problem, none of the features on my car work. Sometimes if I reset my battery the lights are fine for a while but the problem still persists. If I "Rev" my car up and gas it pretty hard when I immediately start driving it seems to help.

After I took my car in for a fuel pump recall, it caused one of my injectors to be bad which will be 3000 dollars fix out of my pocket. this happened a few months after I took my car to the dealership, and it was doing fine before taken to the dealership for the recall. there are many other owners who reported they experienced the same thing, with all the dash lights came on but couldn’t find the exact cause until they replace their fuel injectors. First, all the alarms appeared, even the engine light was on but they would all go away after a few days. It had been on and off randomly for the past 4 months. the car is still driving fine but the alarms will pop up and stay for a few weeks to a month. It would randomly not letting me accelerate and slow me down, which if i was driving on the highway all the way in the left with traffic, that would cause a traffic jam and eventually an accident with other drivers.

Tech said it is a known failure with this vehicle model, especially with the Honda turbo engine, so much so the warranty was increased from 100,000 miles to 150,000. Unfortunately my car was 15,000 miles over warranty and will be a costly bill. Online research yielded that tech was right, it is a known failure issue with this model but I missed the warranty extension. If this is a known issue by the manufacturer, should this not he a recall issue?

I have a 2018 Honda Accord Sport 1.5 The issue started after getting my fuel pump replaced as part of the recall. While driving, all of the dashboard lights came on. Warning messages kept flashing on the dash. This car was driving perfectly fine before the fuel pump was replaced. When the codes are cleared, the car drives perfectly fine. The dashboard lights will periodically turn off but ultimately come back on and as a result, the car goes into limp mode. Coils, sparkplugs, breakers have been switched out and oil levels have been checked. When the car is scanned, the codes are reading a misfire with the coils but, the coils that are allegedly misfiring were JUST replaced. The car jerks while attempting to accelerate, and after a few miles, it goes into limp mode. I have tried every type of repair that has been suggested to me by the mechanic but the issues persist.

As I was driving myself and child on the interstate 65 mph the vehicle all of a sudden dropped speed and would not accelerate. I drifted the car off the interstate off ramp and pulled into a store parking lot. Luckily, we did not cause an accident or hit anything or anyone. All the lights on car's dashboard blinking some examples are EPS, VSA, Malfunction lamp, Breaking system, check engine light, etc. My car did not show that it was running hot, was not smoking, however would not accelerate. The car had a slight rattle, running bad, shaking slightly; all in all, not working appropriately. No earlier indication that something was wrong just came all of a sudden, no warning at all. Car was brought to Billy Navarre in Lake Charles, LA, where they concluded that head gasket was blown. I had to come out of pocket to fix the head gasket and all of the other problems that it caused. Car milage 84,097, bought brand new in 2018. This is a major safety issue for the public! Multiple people have this same problem. I have documentation on all the work the dealership completed. And I have filed a report to Honda.
