My vehicle experienced the exact component failure described in NHTSA Recall 24V-896 (FCA Campaign C4B), but my VIN is currently excluded due to the manufacturing date window." My truck's build date was 01/17. The following warning lights appeared (ABS, Traction Control/ESC) and I lost auxiliary cruise control. An independent shop diagnosed the failed Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) / ABS pump motor and I had to pay out of pocket ($750) to restore the safety features of the vehicle.

Failing ABS hydraulic control module is causing a dash warning lamp accompanied with an alarm noise and check abs system displayed. This has been going on since I purchased the truck in July 2025. In the beginning the light/alarm/message was not happening too often. Now it is so often that I can barely stand to drive it anywhere. Last week I drove to the store and back home which is about 15 miles. I counted over 100 events in that span. I understand there is a current safety recall that was issued back in November 2024. In the details of this recall they say the issue could cause collision. If so, why is this taking so long to be resolved? I have contacted the dealer several times and they are well aware of the issue but say there is not a remedy yet. However, they offered to replace the HCU with the same one but I pay for it and I will likely end up with the same problem down the road. That just seems absurd to me.

Vehicle: 2017 Ram 2500 4x4 Diesel NHTSA Recall Number: 24V-896 Manufacturer Recall Number: C4B My vehicle is subject to Recall 24V-896 involving a Brake Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) that may fail and cause intermittent loss of ABS, Electronic Stability Control, and Traction Control. Beginning around September 2025, my vehicle started experiencing intermittent ABS and Electronic Braking System warning lights while driving. The warnings occur randomly during vehicle operation and not only at startup. I have contacted and visited my Ram dealership multiple times regarding both the recall and the active warning lights. The dealership advised that recall parts were not available and did not perform a diagnosis of the warning lights. I was informed that the recall remedy was unavailable and was not provided a determination regarding whether the vehicle was safe to operate. Because the dealership would not diagnose the active warning condition, I paid for an independent inspection. On March 5, 2026, an independent repair facility diagnosed Diagnostic Trouble Code C0020-01 (ABS Pump Motor Control Failure). Their inspection notes state that they flow-tested the ABS system and determined that the ABS module was faulty. The symptoms currently being experienced by my vehicle appear consistent with the failure mode described in Recall 24V-896, which states that a failing HCU may initially result in intermittent loss of ABS and traction control before progressing to permanent loss. As of June 2026, the recall remains incomplete and the remedy is still unavailable. I am concerned that the vehicle is exhibiting symptoms consistent with the recalled defect while no repair is available. I am requesting NHTSA review the delay in providing a remedy and the safety implications of vehicles experiencing active symptoms associated with this recall while parts remain unavailable.

Also cruise control and traction control won't work and truck constantly dings all the time to remind me I bought a broken truck that RAM don't fell like they have to fix such a hazardous safety issue

The contact owns a 2017 Ram 2500. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V896000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic); however, the part to do the recall repair was not available. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the ABS and check engine warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was initially taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. The diagnostic test determined that there was a failure with the ECM. The ECM was replaced; however, soon after the repair, the warning lights returned with the vehicle going into LIMP Mode. The vehicle was taken back to dealer, where the vehicle remained for months while attempting to determine the cause of the failure. The contact was then informed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The contact was provided an estimate for the repair, and the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, where a diagnostic test indicated a failure with the hydraulic control unit (HCU). Several repairs were performed, but failed to correct the failure. The mechanic replaced the transmission twice; however, the failure returned after each repair. The manufacturer was notified about the failure, and the contact was provided with two case numbers. The vehicle was not repaired and remained with the independent mechanic. The failure mileage was 82,792.

At 31,000 mile my horn is no longer working along with my steering wheel controls on the left side of the wheel. Upon researching online it seems these truck have a common issue with clock spring fail. This is concerning because not only does the clock spring provide power to the horn and steering wheel controls, it could also effect the airbag function.

ABS service light and traction control light keeps coming on. I have taken the vehicle to the dealer only to have the code erased and sent on my way because there is no remedy for this recall. My 2017 Ram 2500, 6.4L Hemi experiences warning lights which I'm told is caused by intermittent PCM failure. I'm told this can cause the truck to stall while in motion, refuse to start, or enter "limp mode". This amounts to a possible unsafe condition that can put myself and passengers at risk of property damage, bodily injury or worse. I brought the truck to Priority Automotive of Westerly, LLC on March 9, 2026 for diagnosis. Their diagnosis (attached) recommended replacing the PCM to correct (possibly), "...intermittent internal short(s)". Cost of the repair is $2,012.42. Subsequently, I contacted customer care at Stellantis (866-726-4636) and was given Case #[XXX]. I was told to make an appointment at the aforementioned dealership and call them the day before the appointment, so they could send a representative to the dealership for examination. I did exactly that to no avail. No one from Stellantis even contacted the dealership on the appointment date. I called them to find out what happened, only to find out (from a supervisor) that they are not offering assistance in the matter. Additionally, the truck is currently under recall #C4B/NHTSA 24V-896 (PCM related) and, to-date, I'm told the part is still not available after more than a year since the recall. I've owned Dodge Rams for over 27 years and find the situation unsafe and totally unacceptable. I'm also aware that many other owners of the 2017 Ram 2500 6.4L experience PCM/ECM issues, causing no-start conditions or stalling, and have reported them alongside braking system complaints. How to use these: a complaint is one owner’s report, filed voluntarily and published unverified. Patterns matter more than any single story.
