TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 MERCEDES-BENZ E300. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, SMOKE EMERGED FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND OIL WAS LEAKING FROM THE VEHICLE. ADDITIONALLY, AN ABNORMAL BOOMING NOISE WAS HEARD. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE HIGHWAY SAFETY DEPARTMENT ARRIVED AT THE SCENE AND PROVIDED SAND. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE LOCAL DEALER (HOUSE OF IMPORTS, 6862 AUTO CENTER DRIVE, BUENA PARK, CA 90621, (714) 627-5553) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND PROVIDED REFERENCE NUMBER: 1-7QUCM. NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 16,000.
