I am filing a safety complaint regarding a defective diesel emissions system and persistent warning condition in my 2017 Land Rover Range Rover Sport Diesel vehicle that presents a serious safety hazard to myself and others. The vehicle was purchased from Ewing Buick GMC in Plano, Texas, [XXX] and was advertised as being in good condition and ready for sale. At the time of purchase, the vehicle appeared to have undergone preparation and inspection-related services, which gave the impression that it was safe and roadworthy. Dealer informed me of no inspection being performed. Shortly after purchase, the vehicle began displaying persistent emissions-related warnings (DEF system / engine warning). I initially had the vehicle inspected, and serviced for repairs by Royse City Auto Care, where diagnostic information indicated emissions-related faults. Due to the seriousness of the issue, the vehicle was then taken to an authorized Land Rover service center for further diagnosis. Land Rover technicians indicated that potential causes may include a knock sensor or related module failure; however, they stated that these repairs are not guaranteed to resolve the issue. The warning condition remains active and unresolved. The vehicle now presents a critical safety concern. The emissions system warning includes a mileage countdown that will eventually prevent the vehicle from being driven once it reaches zero. This creates a dangerous situation where I may be unable to operate the vehicle at all, potentially leaving me stranded in unsafe conditions. Additionally, the vehicle may enter reduced power mode (limp mode) or experience loss of power while driving. These conditions significantly increase the risk of an accident, especially on highways or in traffic. As a result, my safety and the safety of others on the road are put at risk. My 2017 Land Rover, Range Rover has rusted fuel tank shields. I have owned this vehicle for seven of its nine years and has been babied. When I brought my Range Rover in for a NTSB MANDATED FACTORY RECALL THEY neglected even noting this issue. Which is a very common issue, I brought my rover into Hennessy Land Rover north atlanta on February 10th 2026. My service advisor was [XXX] . Not only did Hennessy north atlanta REFUSE TO REPAIR THE FEDERALLY MANDATED “SEVERE SAFETY” recall regarding my front suspension (may crack leading to a severe accident) as instructed by the NTSB— BECAUSE “THEY DIDNT HAVE THE PARTS FOR THE RECALL” — BUT IF YOU PAY THE $7000 they charge TO FIX THIS ISSUE , HAVING IT DONE IS NO PROBLEM. THE PARTS MAGICALLY APPEAR for $7000. As stated, Hennessy did not even address the fuel tank cover issue. THEY DID NOT BRING IT UP The reason this problem occurs is because of a process called galvanic corrosion. The fuel tank shield is bolted onto an aluminum heat shield, and the pairing of these two different metals accelerates the corrosion. Land Rover has acknowledged this problem and it's given priority due to the fact that this is a safety issue being that these shields are also responsible for holding the tanks in place. ANOTHER SEVERE SAFETY ISSUE THAT LAND ROVER NORTH AMERICA IS CURRENTLY, SIMPLY IGNORING. TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. IF HENNESSY CAN’T DO WHAT IS RIGHT THEY SHOULD BE SHUTTERED AND PETE ALVAREZ SHOULD BE FIRED. Please pass this along to Land Rover North America. This is my sixth Range Rover and after this experience will most likely be my last. I love this truck and I’ve loved all of them I’ve had. I’ve recommended them to friends but this was astonishing. Waited four hours for them to do NOTHING.FIX NOTHING. ADMIT TO NOTHING. ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE. My Range Rover diesel is continuing to have premature Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) clogging, causing dashboard warnings, "limp mode," reduced power, and engine issues. This causes the car to immediatly without warning reduce power and you have a certain amount of miles before the car shuts down. Range Rover knows of this incident, and there is a law suit concerning this, and unfortunately this problem did not occur to my car until after the lawsuit deadline went into effect. This has happened several times with the only solution to order an 11,000 new system which has the same defect as the original one in the car.

The contact stated that during routine service, the dealer found severe corrosion on the steel shield under the driver's and passenger’s side fuel tanks. The contact was advised by the dealer that the corrosion was more severe on the driver's side shield and there was a risk that the fuel tank could separate from the frame of the vehicle. The contact called the manufacturer, and the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact stated that the manufacturer advised that the steel fuel tank shield was bolted to an aluminum heat shield on the bottom of the fuel tank and was creating a process called galvanic corrosion. The contact was advised by the manufacturer that there was a Technical Service Bulletin covering the repair on model years 2013 through 2016. The contact was advised by the manufacturer representative that the 2017 Land Rover Range Rover was not covered and would not be covered until the manufacturer was requested to do so by the Federal Government. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 89,000.

Unsure what first came on but the check engine light came on there would be no issues when driving nor lack of power, then filled up my tank and first try the engine would stall second try engine would take a longer time to roll over and revs would slightly fluctuate almost sounding like it would stall out again but didn’t after and when ever starting up the vehicle nothing else happened after with that issue only when fueling up. but brought my vehicle to a Land Rover dealerships, they next tried diagnosing my vehicle found a small P0442 small evap leak didn’t find anything then did a smoke test and still didn’t find anything wanted to do a much bigger pricey diagnostic, I declined had the check engine light taking off but gas cap warning would appear later down the line then the check engine light would come on again. I changed the gas cap had past codes erased and things lasted a little longer then before but still came back on.

Fuel gauge indicated no fuel even though tank was just filled. Vehicle went into limp mode then would only start for a minute. Exact same symptoms as current recall for same model year but ours is outside of VIN range for that recall. Vehicle only has 35k miles and had fuel pump replaced which has seemed to fix the problem although fuel gauge won’t read full ever.

VEHICLE HAD SOME LOSS OF POWER THEN FOLLOWED BY "LIMP" MODE WHICH THEN WAS EXTREME LOSS OF POWER. VEHICLE SYSTEM FAILED AND DID NOT ISSUE PRIOR WARNING OF "REGENERATION" OF DIESEL PARTICULAR FILTER. VEHICLE HAD BEEN SERVICED SEVERAL TIMES FOR DEF FLUID LIGHT, DIESEL SENSOR ISSUES, AND ALSO FAILED NYS INSPECTION ON IT'S FIRST ANNUAL INSPECTION IN FEBRUARY 2019. I ALSO HAD IT REPAIRED SINCE FUEL TANK WENT TO "EMPTY" WHILE DRIVING. VEHICLE IS UNSAFE AND JAGUAR LAND ROVER SHOULD ACKNOWLEDGE THERE ARE MAJOR ISSUES WITH THE SAFETY OF THESE VEHICLES. WE WERE ORIGINALLY SOLD ANOTHER DIESEL RANGE ROVER THROUGH SAME DEALER (MOUNT KISCO) BUT THAT VEHICLE COULD NOT PASS NYS INSPECTION AS WELL. WE WERE ASKED TO DRIVE IT FOR A COUPLE OF HUNDRED MILES AND BRING IT BACK FOR INSPECTION BUT IT KEPT FAILING AND WERE THEN SOLD THIS ONE.

TODAY THEY CALLED THAT ARE CHANGING THE FUEL PUMP. WAITING FOR THE PART AND AFTER INSTALLATION THEY SEE IF THE PROBLEMS ARE RESOLVED
