Rear drivers side door will not open. Difficult to access kid in car seat. It has not been taken to dealer yet, BUT it’s a common and expensive failure of door latch discussed online.

Hello, I'm contacting you re: the nationwide Hyundai Oil Consumption issue w/ certain makes & models. I own a 2017 Tuscon w/ just over 56K miles on it. Late last year, we drove my car from our home in Ky to Gatlinburg TN. While we were driving thru Cades Cove, my car acted up, so we found a local repair shop & they looked my car over & determined I needed 4 QUARTS OF OIL added! My car was almost BONE DRY!!! I recently finished my 3 trips to the dealership for the 'oil consumption tests' I'm not sure what was done to my car on each visit, EXCEPT I do know on visit #2, they cleaned my engine/pistons & changed the oil. After that, I drove it aprox 1582 miles & 'lost' 3/4 of a quart of oil. They Hyundai Co seems to think this is acceptable, however, I do NOT!!! NO vehicle should burn/leak/lose that much oil over a 1500 mile trip!!! I got NO resolution regarding this issue, except I was told by my service tech to "keep an eye on the oil & add as needed" ... are you kidding me?? My car runs HORRIBLY & uses alot of gas now ( who can afford THAT??? ) I've owned Hyundai cars since 2006 & ALWAYS LOVED them & the brand, BUT after this, I will NEVER buy another one!!!!

Engine is still under warranty. Only 70,000 miles on it. Started burning massive amounts of oil leading to acceleration issues and low pressure. No oil light ever came on. We realized it was bone dry, in between intervals of recommended oil change. We filled up and monitored. Car is burning over a quart of oil every 1,000 miles causing unsafe driving conditions and costly repairs that are outside of the recommended maintenance in owner manual. Hyundai dealership refuses to approve oil consumption test. Case management will not return my communication. Car has been in the shop for 5 weeks without an answer. This is happening to thousands of people. People who didn’t realize it early enough are being left stranded with seized engines and Hyundai taking no ownership even though most are under warranty still.

The front and back driver side door lock actuator assemblies stopped work. The driver side rear door stopped unlocking from the inside and outside all together, locking you in the car.

Driving into work on Friday June 2, 2023 my engine started making a noise that got progressively worse as I got to work. The engine was knocking loudly and I was not comfortable driving it home. I called AAA and had the vehicle towed to a Hyundai Dealership. The car has 77,780 on it. I bought it used in 2019. The engine is no good. No lights no indication of any problems just that horrible noise. I was told because I bought it used the powertrain warranty wouldn't apply. I did buy an extended warranty and am now waiting to see if they will cover the engine. I am now up to $300.00 in "diagnostic" fees. I knew the engine was gone I could have saved my money but of course need to now jump through hoops to see if this will be covered. Not holding my breath I am sure there will be some fine print in which is will be denied. They said that it would cost $15000.00 to put in a new engine. I owe $9000.00 on the car. UNBELIEVABLE!!!

Car has been hesitating to start this last week, Friday 6/2/23 warning lights came on & air conditioning stopped working. My local Hyundai shop is booked 2 weeks out so I already have an appt for 6/13/23. But on 6/2 I barely made it to a shop close to my home for a diagnostic check. Code P1111 was stored, cleared & retested. It's for fuel pump, circuit was tested & no faults were found & test driven with no return of code. Picked up car on Monday 6/5 with no issues. Tuesday car hesitated to start, 3rd time it started with no issue & no warning light/s. Today 6/7 around noon while I was making a turn the car completely shut off without warning. I've also noted that the oil level is always low, I have to check & put in oil at least every 2 weeks but there doesn't seem to be an oil leak. Also from stop to go at a light for example the car hesitates and then jerks forward. In the past I was told at a Hyundai facility that this is normal because of the dual clutch or something to that fact. The incident today was scary as there were a lot of cars behind me and cars coming towards me. The attached pic of warning lights was from Friday, 6/2/23.

My car sounded awful when going 30mph. The oil light flickered on and off when sitting still. I took it to 2 mechanics and my engine is shot. I can not safely drive my car. Hyundai can not sell me a new motor because they have discontinued to make a long block motor for my car. My car has very little power and I was lucky enough to make it to work. The mechanics state there is a ton of metal in the engine. I have changed the oil regularly. My car was using oil and I called a dealership the soonest they could get me in was 3 weeks out. I still owe a nice bit of money on my car and now I am having a difficult time finding a 1.6 T engine. No option for a new engine only a re built engine which runs $6,700.00 and has a wait to be shipped.

Several days ago, my daughter informed me that she heard a grinding noise from the engine while driving the car. I drove the car did not hear a grinding noise but noticed the car had little to no acceleration. Fluid levels were checked and found to be ok. The next day, my daughter told me the check engine light was illuminated and blinking. I checked fluid levels again and drove the car and noticed same engine acceleration issue as the day before. On May 23, scheduled car for service and diagnostic to determine the issue and service technician identified an engine "knock" during diagnostic and recommended I take the Hyundai Tucson to a local Hyundai dealer for service.

My car has been using extreme amount of oil and they did a combustion test. Who knows if they did it right.every few hundred miles after all, and I took it to Hyundai and Barnes Crossing Tupalo Mississippi. They say they do have to hook it up to $286 to see if what’s wrong but it is using all a lot of oil. They refused to check mine and refused to fix the problem when it gets low of oil, it clicks in the engine. It also has a vacuum leak and they won’t fix see it without hooking it up and charging me. It is still under 100,000 miles I have a card to show warranty and I am under warranty. What do I do now to get this car fixed very dissatisfied and they are warning me to buy another, no way they don’t stand beside their cars. thank you so much for your time. I am still waiting to get this engine fixed. Also, black is in tail pipe like oil. HELP PLEASE! I’ve Called corporate two times on them and I’ve had to Called and ar and still under warranty but they still won’t fixit. Cooperate suggested maybe going to another Hyundai dealership. What is your opinion?

I was driving over the Burlington Bristol Bridge on 3/15/2023 when my car lost power, with no warning. My check engine light came on and was blinking. I coasted over the bridge, immediately pulled over and had the car towed to my local Hyundai Dealer. I was told my car had no oil in it. My low oil light never came on ever. Dealer told me "someone probably didn't put enough oil in the car" I requested an oil consumption test. Drove the car for 1000 miles, came back and they told me the car was "fine" I drove the car another 1000 miles and checked my oil and was on the L. I would have ended up breaking down again. The code my car threw was P1326 which they told me was low oil, I found out that is untrue. It was a knocking sensor. My car burned 3 qts of oil in 2000 miles. It is completely unsafe to drive as I could lose power while driving and make it inoperable. Please help.

My engine is knocking and I was told after taking the car to the dealership that it is a rod making that sound but my car does not show up on the recall. I think something was overlooked and know of other instances similar to this.

I have had multiple instances where the car will not accelerate and can shutter or lurch when I press on the gas. I recently had an incident where I was turning left and the car lurched into traffic and almost stalled as I was trying to turn and avoid the oncoming traffic. This has happened before and is very unsafe. Fortunately, the oncoming traffic was able to stop prior to hitting my car. This apparently is a known issue with this model and the manufacturer refuses to address the issue for this year. I am at the point where I either need them to fix it or I will have to get rid of it because it is very dangerous.

I had recently just had gotten and oil change less than 2 months ago, I had to take my car back to the dealership because it was taking a while for the car to pick up speed. Once I took it into the dealership they told me my engine needs to be replaced. I know someone else that I know that has a hyundai as well and their engine completely gave out as well. What's going on with the engines. My car doesn't even have 100,000 miles on it yet, there's no way my engine should've gave out.

On the morning of April 22, 2023, I brought the vehicle in for a routine oil change and suddenly heard a loud knocking noise coming from the engine. The mechanic advised me to immediately bring the vehicle to a Hyundai service center. At no point was there any alert or warning sign such as a check engine light. I was left stranded with my newborn. The vehicle was brought into Freehold Hyundai in New Jersey for emergency service, and on April 25, 2023, I was informed that the vehicle needed a new engine.

I took the vehicle in for a recall for unrelated issues to this problem at 90,000 miles (July 6 2022). The technician noted that the vehicle was leaking oil and it needed an oil pan reseal. I brought the vehicle back for this service on March 6 2023. Between the initial recall service and this service, I noticed that the vehicle was consuming a significant amount of oil, beyond regular consumption. On several occasions, after about 1000 miles after the oil was changed, I was adding 2-3 quarts of oil to the vehicle. Moreover, when the oil was changed, the technician who changed the oil, noted that the oil was very dirty despite only going 3000-4000 miles between oil changes. I mentioned this to the Lehigh Valley Hyundai Service Desk and that it was highly unlikely that an oil pan reseal would resolve this. They ordered an oil consumption test and instructed me to drive the vehicle for 1000 miles. I did this and brought the vehicle back in to Lehigh Valley Hyundai on April 1, 2023. They checked the oil, the technician ordered an oil combustion cleaning, and instructed me to drive the vehicle an additional 1000 miles before bringing it back in for the oil combustion test. During this period, I noticed that the vehicle lost a significant amount of power. During a drive back from Widener University, I barely had enough power to drive up hills on the Northeast Extension and almost got into two wrecks due to the lack of power. I took the vehicle back to Hyundai on April 8, 2023 and notified them of this issue. They checked the vehicle out and notified me that the catalytic converter was clogged and needed to be replaced. They gave me a quote of $4000 to complete this service. This service was extraordinarily high priced compared to other mechanic services which cost between $2000-2500. I checked with other services and they indicated that they did not have access to the part and only Hyundai had access to the catalytic converter.

Engine fail, no warning till it happened, her car just stopped at night in the middle of the road while she was driving, she then smelled something burning and got right out of the car and called a tow truck. The car was towed to a Hyundai dealership where we were later told it was an engine block, and the car was basically burning gas. Cars been in the shop since January because the engine had to be shipped in parts from overseas. When the new engine had finally arrived, they took the old engine out and saw that the Pistons headshot shrapnel through the starter and through this turbo part, which is also now on back order. I do not know if the vehicle has been inspected by the manufacturer, or the police. I feel very uneasy about the safety of this vehicle given everything that’s happened and even though it’s showing that it’s not on the recall list from what I’m reading and what I understand everything that’s happened the vehicle should’ve been recalled. With the new findings of the shrapnel shooting through the car knowing that that could’ve been a catastrophic incident I could’ve killed my daughter is very unsettling. The car was purchased just under five months before this happened.

I am having a problem with my engine consuming oil. I also had loss of power in the engine when I was pulling out on a highway which was very dangerous. I took the car back to the dealership and they replaced the whole exhaust system and said it was dirty. I had another part replaced last year that they told me was dirty due to oil. I have taking the car back to the dealership for oil consumption test and the engine is still consuming oil. It is dangerous to drive because the engine can seize or I can lose power on the road. I have been in touch with Hyundai corporation many times and nothing is being done. my car has been brought in to the dealership six times since October last year due to this issue. The dealership told me that they are replacing engines but they are refusing to replace mine. They admitted there is a defect in these engines.

Vehicle was parked for 2 weeks while I was out of town. I started the car and when I drove down the street, there was no acceleration or power. I turned around and went right back home. I checked the oil, and it was empty. There was no oil under the car. Having the vehicle towed to the Dealer 05/02/23. I am concerned about all of the complaints of exactly the same problem with the engine and want to document my situation.

My 2017 Hyundai Tucson (91,000 miles) suddenly started having issues shifting into gear. We pulled into traffic and were unable to accelerate for several seconds which created a hazard for both passengers and oncoming vehicles. We took to automotive shop in Clarksville, IN. It was determined that vehicle would not shift into first, third, or fifth gear. The shop informed us this was a common defect with this Make and Model vehicle. We were also informed that only Hyundai Dealerships could service because of specific software and calibration requirements for this specific transmission.

Hi, I live in Levittown, NY, USA. I am a second owner of this vehicle. Currently, my vehicle has a knocking sound and car stopped working 4 times this week. Twice on a busy road, and I was almost hit from behind by another car. I also saw the company recall notice for my model describing similar problems. I took my car to local nearby dealer’Advantage Hyundai’ at Hicksville, NY for repair and spoke with service advisor MR. Patrick Lerouzic. First of all very rude person to talk to, he informed me that I have to leave my vehicle for more than a month at site, just to begin with the vehicle. NO assurance or time line when he will start looking at my vehicle and straight refused to provide any loaner car As the car is not safe to drive, I am forced to leave my car at dealer site and to wait for a month only to see if they will repair or not. My humble request to take a closer look at my request and to stop Hyundai officials to play around like mafia with manufacturers defect cars, and harassing customers of no fault of theirs. Best Rajinder

How to use these: a complaint is one owner’s report, filed voluntarily and published unverified. Patterns matter more than any single story.
