What 13 owners told NHTSA about the 2016 Nissan Quest

These are the actual owner complaints behind this car’s reliability verdict, filed with the federal government, unedited. They’re unverified reports, not confirmed defects: read them as leads for your pre-purchase inspection, not a diagnosis.

THE AIRBAG LIGHT TURNS ON WHEN A PASSENGER IS SITTING ON THE PASSENGER SEAT. THE "AIRBAG OFF" IS "ON" ON VARIOUS OCCASIONS DURING THE DRIVE, IT GOES ON AND THEN AFTER SOME TIMES IT TURNS OFF. THE AIRBAG SEEMS FAULTY. LOOKS LIKE IF THE VEHICLE IS IN AN ACCIDENT, THE AIRBAGS MIGHT NOT DEPLOY, THEREFORE THE PASSENGER IS NOT SAFE FROM A VEHICLE CRASH. IT ALWAYS HAPPENS WHEN I DRIVE THE VEHICLE AND A PASSENGER IS SITTING ON THE PASSENGER SEAT.

How to use these: a complaint is one owner’s report, filed voluntarily and published unverified. Patterns matter more than any single story. If several owners describe the same failure at similar mileage, put that system at the top of your pre-purchase inspection list. Back to the full 2016 Nissan Quest verdict →
