What 1,686 owners told NHTSA about the 2016 Ford F-150 Supercab Diesel

Low brake fluid light came on while driving. Shortly thereafter (minutes) the brakes got very bad and unsafe. Basically the resistance left and the pedal went to the floor. It slowly stopped via brakes but very poorly. You couldn't make a quick stop if needed. Checked fluid it was empty. Added fluid. Drove to dealership, brakes were slightly better but sure enough 5 minutes into drive the low fluid light came on. I suspect it is emtpy again (I dropped at dealership and told them to check). Brakes starting working worse again, just like before (keep in mind they were'nt normal again even with the fluid, just a bit more resistance when i pumped the pedal). After the light came on, all resistances was gone again. Doing some research and talking to the dealership this sounds exactly like NHTSA campaing # 20V-332, however, my vehicle isn't covered because the cutoff for that is currently Aug 1 2016, while my truck was apparently built the following month in September. Dealer thinks it is the same issue. I called Ford and they are taking a wait and see attitude, but it sure seems fishy that the exact recall problem appears to suddenly pop up in a vehicle that fits all the descriptions except a month later...The guy I talked to said they used dealership reports to determine affected dates, so who knows. Car is at dealership getting fixed and it needs a new master cylinder.

It has been diagnosed by Ford as defective Variable Cam Timing Solenoids which have been replaced twice without fixing the problem. It continues to stall when at a stop or when starting out from a stop, like when crossing an intersection it dies in traffic suddenly. The check engine light is lit and it gets progressively worse until it is not reliably drivable

This has happend three time already, My son has a code reader thing that when he plugged it to My truck this code came up P0720. Had to park My truck at home for My worry and safety. My son took it to the Ford dealership and got it a diagnostic test done. On way over there He said the truck drove fine. The dealership test said it was Lead frame Connector. They have to change that and drain the oil of transmission and refill it again. Its almost a month My truck has been park here at home.

I started my 2016 f150 platinum ecoboost in the morning around (6:30am) on 6/18/21. The glass was fogged up from the night air so I turned rear and front defogger on to clear my glass and smell a instant strong burning smell and a loud pop which sent glass flying from the rear window. After a safety recall repair concerning the door latches not securing . The passenger door opened when I took a left turn. I took it back to the dealer that did the repair and the supervisor stated that the mechanic was dismissed after improper repairs were conducted. Every once in a while the door latch does not secure causing the door latch to stay open. Additionally the back left door, under the same recall behaves the same way. It does not engage the door latch mechanism. I brought this to the attention of the repair facility and I was assured that there is nothing wrong with my doors securing to the latch. Yet, there seems to be a problem securing my door. There is no warning from the trucks system that a door is open or unsecured. My 72 year old mother was in the passenger seat when the door opened. Now she won't get into my vehicle for fear of her life. My back left passenger door swung open as I was backing out of my driveway. The dashboard did not indicate the door was open. The problem ONLY first appeared AFTER the safety recall repair was conducted. I have no confidence in my does being secured. The doors opening has happened several times. Since the repair sep 2018. The doors are not dependable and I must sell this truck in order to get my family out of any harm

This is my second issue of the same problem. The airbag cover cracks along the FORD logo and becomes a SHARP edge when applying the horn. In addition, I am concerned if this may accidentally activate the airbag? There are numerous complaints/concerns in the internet about this same issue and the same location of issue. As you can view in the attached photo, it is a defect in the workmanship that causes the seperation of the airbag cover.

Driving down Interstate 80 at 70mph and Track Assist error, then Hill Start Assist Unavailable Error, Wrench light (see manual), engine light. I depress the gas pedal and there is no response, the engine rpm does not increase. I have to pull off to the side of the interstate, towing a boat, luckily not in construction zone ahead with concrete barriers on both sides. Turn off and restart, the engine / rpm still do not respond. Turned off for 5 minutes while I make a call. Turn on again and rough idle but the engine responds and I am able to drive the remaining 15 miles to home. Exact thing happened again 4 days later on 2 lane, hilly, country highway without a shoulder. I stopped in the road, hazards on, turned off/on again, didn't respond to gas. Wait 5 minutes turned on again and was able to get to home.
