On 3/11/2023, I used my vehicles, 2016 Ford F-150 Platinum, remote start feature before leaving work. When I got in my truck to go home, I noticed that the rear window of my vehicle was shattered. After some further investigation, it appears the rear defroster heat element malfunctioned, and shattered the rear window. This caused glass particles to circulate within my truck, as there was nothing protection wind from coming in the rear window area. Upon further research, it appears that this has happened to numerous other vehicles of similar make/model/year. I have contacted Ford and am awaiting their response. This is a safety feature and a malfunction of their vehicle, therefore they should be responsible.

There has been 3 times I have noticed my hood being partially open before driving out of the garage from a parked position. I had to push the hood back into locked position. So far I have not experienced this when driving which is a BIG concern to me. I do not drive my truck much after buying new in 2016 November. As of today my truck has 28,437.0 miles.

While driving on the highway at highway speeds 70 mph the truck automatically shifted from 6th Gear to first gear nearly throwing me through the windshield. It went back in the regular gear and started driving fine within a couple of weeks it got to where it would shift erratically all the time and not start half the time at this point it will not start at all.the gear indicator light does not illuminate. The computer cant recognize what gear it is in. I spoke with a Ford representative there was a recall for 153,000 vehicles with the same problem but mine was not one of them. Upon looking into it further I found nearly 300 other drivers with the same exact issue. Later calling the Ford dealership to get parts to repair the transmission I was laughed at and told he has seven of those trucks waiting for the parts to fix them on his lot now. I spoke with a different Ford dealership that gentleman told me he cannot get them parts to repair them either even though the computer is showing that there's over 70,000 of those parts in a warehouse and that Ford was holding on to them like gold and no one could get them not even at dealership. There are many People on forums complaining about the issues and dealerships telling me they have trucks there with the same issues and no one can get parts... seems to me that there is a major issue with these Transmissions. One forum a gentleman stated that he changed the lead frame in the transmission and that was the entire problem. Any help from your offices great appreciate it by all the owners, myself included. I have been in the loyal Ford owner of my entire life and cannot believe how treating their customers! Thank you

while driving the vehicle the transmission down shifts without warning and engine light come on, i also hear the coolant fan come on, so i go from driving 40 mph to 30 mph and engine is running in a high RPM. sometimes the cruise control comes on. other times the transmission is just stuck in gear, for example if i slow down to a red light, it stays in 5 gear. very hard to stop. then the light changes the car does not want to go because it is 5 gear, so it takes a long time to get going, it pops in gear and just takes off almost hitting the car in front of me

5.0 liter V8 engine has a stalling problem. Very randomly the engine will stall when I come to a stop. This has become a very concerning safety issue for me. I have taken it to my local Ford dealership and after 5 days of having the vehicle they cannot duplicate the issue. I have had the injectors cleaned, the plugs replaced and the dealer replaced the throttle body. None of these repairs that cost over $1500 made any change to the problem. Vehicle is currently at another mechanic and after 4 days he also cannot duplicate it yet has had the engine go into a very low idle and come close to stalling. This is not producing any engine code or check engine light or any incident on a in drive scanner. This issue is well documented on Ford F150 blog sites with no real solution to the problem.

While driving my truck gears disappears making my truck back tires stop for a few seconds. It could be a serious issue in the freeway. Ford recalled the lead frame for 2011 thru 2014 f150 but never fixed the issue with newer vehicle as mine 2016

I keep reading online and hearing a bunch of instances regarding trying to accelerate and the truck falling flat and losing power. (This recently happened to me trying to get onto the expressway.) I was driving on the on-ramp and pushing the pedal to accelerate and I was parallel to the front of a semi truck. I tried passing and the truck completely went into limp mode and thank goodness there was a shoulder because I braked as hard as I could and threw the steering wheel as far to the right as I could. My life flashed in front of my eyes and it made me want to sell the vehicle because I have a baby and if it wasn’t for instinct I don’t know where I’d be. And that’s why I am posting this in hopes of this issue being some sort of recall. I later went to an auto parts store and the code read P2112 the tech said it was pertaining to the throttle bottle and it’s a common issue. I don’t know how many hundreds/thousands of people this has happened to but in my humble opinion this needs to be addressed. The vehicle is a 2016 F150 King Ranch 3.5L EcoBoost

Transmission stuck in 1st gear, 3rd gear, or unable to shift and total loss of power after sudden braking to stop. This has happened over 6-8 times in my time of ownership. Starting between early 2021-2022. Vehicle currently has 76000 miles. Temporary resolution was to turn vehicle off and back on again. There have been reports that sometimes that does not work. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Ng3HJdyyoM

Feb 16, 2023Brakes

My vehicle lost all break pedal function and lost all breaking during operation. I was able to reduce speed and avoid a serious accident on the highway at 55 mph. Individuals in front of me could have been injured had I not been able to stop using the emergency brake. It seems that there is an issue with the brake master cylinder on this vehicle. Warning lamps and message came on after the failure. This vehicle has been scheduled for inspection on 02/23/2023 at 11:00 am.

Feb 7, 2023Electrical system

There is a strong smell of electrical wires burning and occasionally a little smoke comes out from under the hood. I try and look for the problem but no luck in finding it. I know that there was a recall on Ford F150 about wiring from a heater block or something too close to the engine causing the wires to melt together.

Factory installed Lugnuts cannot be removed for tire rotation during a scheduled oil change service at Preston Ford in Aberdeen Maryland reason given is that the Lugnuts had swollen and a lug wrench could not fit over them had to buy all new Lugnuts. I feel Ford should be aware of this because it is a safety concern if you have a flat tire and try to loosen the lug nuts, the lug nut wrench Will not fit over the lug nut posing a possible dangerous situation, especially if you’re in a remote location service Was performed on 26 January 2023 Lugnuts installed February 1, 2023 at Preston Ford Aberdeen Maryland. I do have a Ford issued case number [XXX]. I am asking Ford to recall these Lugnuts, and credit me for the price of a standard set of Lugnuts and labor required to install them. Rear window spontaneously shattered in driveway. Approximately 30 degrees outside temperature, vehicle was started, rear defrost engaged, driven approximately 1/2 block to another driveway. When leaving driveway to enter roadway, rear window shattered with a loud pop. No internal or external impact to the rear window to cause the glass to shatter. No other cars, people, work equipment, mowers, etc were present. My safety was impacted by the startling, loud noise, glass shards exploding into the cab, visibility was greatly impacted and sub-freezing temperatures were now free to enter the cab with no ability to sustain safe cabin temperature. I am having the glass inspected and replaced. No police involved Insurance deductible is higher than replacement cost so they are not involved. There were no warning lights or any sign of symptoms prior to the glass explosion. A quick google search would indicate this is a common and dangerous problem. This is clearly a defect in either the glass itself or the rear defrost system. There should be a safety recall before people are hurt or killed by this defect.

Vehicle shuts off when in idle. Happens more often during a long drive. I have taken this vehicle to Firestone and a Ford Motor Company Service shop to have it repaired. Mechanics state that they are not able to replicate the issue and cannot do anything because the check engine light is not on. Considered about safety factors of vehicle shutting off when making a left turn and being hit by on coming traffic. Has been occurring for last 15,000 miles.

Lug nuts were swolen and auto shop recommended replacement by a certified mechanic. We were told by a certified mechanic swolen lug nuts can snap off putting pressure on the other lug nuts. Worst case is all the lug nuts snap and you lose a tire while driving. The other scenario is the lug nuts are so swolen, they would not be removable during repairs of a flat tire on the road. Both scenarios are a safety issue.

1/26/2023 front left brake line failed resulting in minimal stopping ability and loss of brake fluid. Right side brake line was inspected and replaced with a bulge in the line. Greatly reduced ability to stop, used extreme caution to immediately drive to repair service shop. Photos provided by the service shop that made the repair. They replaced both front brake lines and refiled the brake fluid and bleed the brake lines. No inspection by manufacture, police, or insurance. Failure did not result in accident but certainly compromised safety due to reduced stopping ability. No symptoms leading up to the time of failure. Upon the brake line failure, the brake indicator light came on and warning of low brake fluid. Truck is currently being repaired at time of reporting so the final invoice is not availble yet.

The contact owns a 2016 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving various speeds, he heard an abnormal whistling sound coming from the vehicle. One day upon exiting and returning to the vehicle, the contact's girlfriend had passed out in the back seat. Upon approaching the passenger’s side to wake her up, the contact smelled carbon monoxide odor coming from her side of the vehicle. The contact’s girlfriend did not seek medical attention after becoming unconscious. Upon investigation, the contact discovered that bolts on the exhaust manifold were improperly placed, causing the bolts to shear off, leading to a carbon monoxide leaking into the vehicle. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed him that there were no recalls on the VIN. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure and acknowledged that they were aware of the failure however, there was no recall for the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. How to use these: a complaint is one owner’s report, filed voluntarily and published unverified. Patterns matter more than any single story. If several owners describe the same failure at similar mileage, put that system at the top of your pre-purchase inspection list. Back to the full 2016 Ford F-150 Supercab Diesel verdict →
