Smitty's & Hank May of Norwalk confirm recall 23V337. Dealer confirms recall symptoms but resorts to word play & deflects symptoms for me to pay for repairs. Car would not start & was towed to Hank May 1st & Smitty's both of Norwalk, CT 06851 subsequently because dealer would not respond. Both service stations confirmed recall 23V337 & directed me to the dealer. Dealer acknowledges water in the car via sunroof & blocked drains they claim they cleared. Dealer recommends battery replacements & wants it done by them for "no problems" by other service stations. Dealer confirms damage of circuit boards but uses alternative names for me to pay. If the shoe fits, if it walks & talks like, then it is. Had to go to dealer in person for an update repeatedly & they offer no loaners. Even google confirms the recall based on the symptoms. If the car starts, windshield wipers don't work & it is not due to the windshield motor but the circuit board motor failure due to the water entered by the sunroof channels the recall confirms. The wipers not working due to no fault of mine is a safety issue. Dealer not acknowledging the need for the recall offers me no assurance this issue will not happen again, making it an ongoing concern. No warning lights, vehicle @ the dealer for repairs @ the urging of Smitty's & Hank May & dealer confirms symptoms.

DOOR HANDLES WILL NOT WORK. CAR HAS ONE LOCKED UNABLE TO OPEN AND ONE UNABLE TO CLOSE. SECOND TIME HAVING TO REPLACE THEM IN 3 YEARS (ABOUT 18 MONTHS EACH TIME) VERY UNSAFE AND UNABLE TO DRIVE. HAPPENS WHEN OPENING AND CLOSING DOORS.

THIS CAR ENGINE INCONSISTENTLY DIES, USUALLY IN FIRST OR SECOND GEAR, SOMETIMES WHEN THE CAR IS STOPPED (E.G. AT A RED LIGHT) AND SOMETIMES WHEN IT IS SLOWING DOWN (E.G. PULLING INTO A PARKING LOT), OR ACCELERATING (E.G. TAKING OFF FROM A RED LIGHT OR PULLING OUT OF A PARKING LOT). IT HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER'S 3 TIMES AND THEY CANNOT FIND THE PROBLEM--THE CAR HAS LESS THAN 4,000 MILES AND STARTED DOING THIS SOON AFTER PURCHASED. I HAVE THE DOCUMENTATION FROM THE 3 TRIPS TO THE SERVICE DEPT. BUT AM NOT SENDING THEM AT THIS TIME. HAS HAPPENED WITH 3 DIFFERENT PEOPLE DRIVING THE CAR. HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 25 TIMES. (LAST TIME LISTED BELOW). SPEED VARIES BUT USUALLY LESS THAN 30 MPH--NEVER ON THE HIGHWAY SO FAR. I HAVE DOCUMENTED DATES, MILEAGE, AND WHERE IT HAPPENED STARTING IN NOVEMBER--CAR WAS PURCHASED IN AUGUST, 2015. *TR

How to use these: a complaint is one owner’s report, filed voluntarily and published unverified. Patterns matter more than any single story. If several owners describe the same failure at similar mileage, put that system at the top of your pre-purchase inspection list. Back to the full 2015 Mini Jcw Paceman verdict →
