OIL COOLER/OIL FILTER HOUSING AND GASKETS HAVE A KNOWN DEFECT THAT CAUSES OIL TO LEAK ONTO AND INTO ENGINE COMPONENTS, SUCH AS THE RADIATOR, CAUSING THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS IN DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE. JEEP/CHRYSLER/DODGE/RAM TECHS KNOW THAT THIS IS A COMMON DEFECT, AND THE LEAKING OIL CAN AND DOES BURN, WHICH CAN LEAD TO A TOTAL ENGINE FIRE!!! I FIRST NOTICED THE ISSUE WHEN I SMELLED BURNING OIL. THINKING IT WAS JUST A MINOR ISSUE THAT COULD BE FIXED WHENEVER I HAD THE FREE TIME, I CONTINUED DRIVING FOR ANOTHER WEEK OR TWO UNTIL SMOKE STARTED COMING OUT OF THE ENGINE! I FINALLY TOOK IT IN BECAUSE THERE WAS WAY TOO MUCH SMOKE TO BE SAFE (FIRE?). THE TECH THAT WORKED ON MY JEEP, MIKE POLLARD, SAYS HE SEES THIS ISSUE ALL THE TIME, ADVISED ME TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS AND THEN FILE FOR REIMBURSEMENT WITH THEIR CORPORATE OFFICE SINCE IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND MY JEEP ONLY HAD 43,500 MILES ON IT (WELL UNDER THE 100,000 MILE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY). WELL, I DID AS HE ASKED, BUT CORPORATE CUSTOMER CARE IS USELESS, WILL NOT REACH OUT TO THE TECH AS ASKED, AND ARE DOING THEIR BEST TO NOT PAY BECAUSE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THERE IS NOT A RECALL. EITHER WAY, THIS ISSUE CAN START A FIRE IF LEFT UNFIXED. JEEP KNOWS THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE, YET WILL NOT DO A RECALL UNLESS FORCED (MONEY OVER SAFETY). LOOK ONLINE AT THE HUNDREDS OF OTHERS COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS COMMON ISSUE. WHAT'S WORSE, IS THAT THEY REPLACED IT WITH THE SAME DEFECTIVE PART AS USUAL, SO NOW I HAVE TO WORRY THAT IT'LL JUST HAPPEN AGAIN SOON. PLEASE HELP!!!

PARKED VEHICLE ON A SLOPE IN THE MOUNTAINS WITH THE PARKING BRAKE ENGAGED. THE VEHICLE IS AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION AND WAS IN PARK. IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING ALL PASSENGERS EXITING THE VEHICLE, IT SLOWLY STARTED ROLLING AWAY, BACKWARDS. IT TRAVELED DOWN A 4WD ROAD A SMALL DISTANCE BEFORE TURNING OFF AND TUMBLING DOWN THE MOUNTAIN. LUCKILY EVERYONE HAD EXITED THE VEHICLE AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THOUGH WE WERE PARKED ON A SLOPE, PROBABLY AROUND 15 DEGREES, THERE WAS COMPLETE FAILURE OF BOTH THE PARK GEAR AND THE PARKING BRAKE ALLOWING A ROLLAWAY. THE PARKING SURFACES WAS A COMBINATION SOLID ROCK AND DIRT.

SUMMARY: OIL COOLER HOUSING CRACKED. THIS OCCURRED AT LESS THAN 51,000. WE WERE LUCKY THAT IT HAPPENED IN OUR GARAGE RATHER THEN WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE DUE TO THE OIL LEAK AND HAD TO BE TOWED FOR REPAIRS. IF WE HAD BEEN DRIVING IT COULD HAVE CAUSED ENGINE FAILURE. WHEN CAR WAS 3 MONTHS OLD, I WAS PUTTING GEAR SHIFT INTO PARK AND IT POP BACK OUT AND I ALMOST WAS RAN OVER BY VEHICLE. LUCKILY, HAVE OF MY BODY WAS STILL IN CAR BUT IT HAPPENED SO FAST THAT I WAS PARKED NEXT TO A BRICK WALL AND IT HIT EXACTLY WHEN I PUT FOOT ON BRAKE. I DO HAVE REPAIR FORMS FROM RON LEWIS JEEP AND INSURANCE REPORT. SINCE THEN I HAD TWO MINOR PAINT PEEL ISSUES.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP WRANGLER. WHILE PARKED ON A HILL, THE VEHICLE ROLLED AWAY IN THE REVERSE POSITION. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND SENT A SPECIALIST TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 11,000.

I JUST DROVE MY VEHICLE AND THEN PARKED IT AT MY HOME ON A DRIVEWAY THAT HAS A SLIGHT INCLINE. I PARKED VEHICLE IN 1ST GEAR (6 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION), AND APPLIED THE PARKING BRAKE. APPROXIMATELY 10 MINUTES LATER I WAS IN MY YARD AND HEARD A MUFFLED POP NOISE AND THEN A CLICKING SOUND THAT RESEMBLED A ROLLER COASTER RIDE WHEN THE CARS ARE BEING PULLED UP A STEEP HILL. I TURNED AROUND AND SAW MY VEHICLE GOING DOWN THE DRIVEWAY. IT COLLIDED WITH MY WIFE'S VEHICLE THEN HIT A TREE. THE VEHICLE HAS 2800 MILES ON IT. WHEN I GOT IN VEHICLE THE SHIFT WAS IN 1ST GEAR, AND BRAKE APPLIED. I STARTED THE VEHICLE AND LET OFF THE CLUTCH AND THE VEHICLE MOVED FORWARD, INDICATING THAT IT WAS IN FACT IN FIRST GEAR STILL. I DUPLICATED WHERE I PARKED IT AGAIN AND IT MOVED BACKWARDS AGAIN. AFTER MULTIPLE REENACTMENTS THE VEHICLE WOULD MOVE UNTIL 3-5 MIN LATER IT WOULD MAKE A SUDDEN MOVEMENT IN REVERSE FOR ABOUT 6-12 INCHES. *TR
