THE AIRBAG LIGHT JUST CAME ON IN MY 2014 JEEP JK. AFTER DILIGENT RESEARCH ONLINE, AND WITH THE MECHANICAL KNOWLEDGE I HAVE. I HAVE FOUND THAT IT IS DUE TO THE FAILURE OF THE CLOCK SPRING IN THE STEERING WHEEL. AFTER RESEARCHING FURTHER, I FOUND IN NUMEROUS THREADS, POST, BLOGS, AND FORUMS, THAT THIS IS A WIDESPREAD ISSUE WITH ALL JEEP JK'S. A RECALL WAS ISSUED FOR THE 07 AND 08 JK'S, AND ALSO FOR THE NEWER MODEL RIGHT HAND DRIVE JK'S. HOWEVER, THIS ISSUE HAS NOT BEEN ADDRESSED IN THE 09 THROUGH 18 JK'S. THIS CAN CAUSE SAFETY ISSUES WITH THE AIRBAGS, AND BELIEVE JEEP SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL FOR THESE LATTER YEAR JK'S AS WELL. THIS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING BACK HOME FROM ACROSS TOWN. AT FIRST WITH THE LIGHT AND CHIME COMING ON INTERMITTENTLY. THEN FINALLY THE LIGHT STAYED ON. I HAVE NOT BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP TO DIAGNOSE THIS AS I BELIEVE I HAVE DONE SO ON MY OWN. THIS IS A QUITE EXPENSIVE FIX FOR A SAFETY ISSUE THAT I DON'T BELIEVE JEEP BUYERS SHOULD HAVE TO PAY.

AFTER WRITING UP A WORK ORDER FOR ENGINE DIAGNOSTICS I RECEIVED A PHONE CALL STATING I WOULD NEED A CLOCKSPRING TO RECTIFY THE AIRBAG PROBLEM. AT THIS TIME I INFORMED THEM THAT THERE WAS AN ACTIVE SAFETY RECALL FOR THE VEHICLE, WHICH THEY WERE UNAWARE OF DESPITE HAVING PRINTED THE INFORMATION WHEN THEY CHECKED THE VEHICLE IN (NOBODY ACTUALLY CHECKED TO SEE IF THERE WAS A RECALL, THEY SIMPLY PRINTED THE NECESSARY VIN CHECK PAPERWORK). IN ADDITION TO THIS I ALSO HAVE LOST CRUISE CONTROL FUNCTION AS WELL AS HAVING TO PRESS EXTREMELY HARD ON MY STEERING WHEEL BUTTONS FOR THEM TO WORK. SOUNDS SIMILAR TO OTHER PEOPLES' REPORTED PROBLEMS. I FEEL I SHOULDN'T BE CHARGED A DIAGNOSTIC IN THE FIRST PLACE AS THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE FIRST THING THAT WAS CHECKED AND CORRECTED BEFORE ANYTHING BUT I'LL HAVE TO TAKE THAT UP WITH THEM.

I WORK AND LIVE TWO HOURS FROM THIS LOCATION SO IT'S VERY INCONVENIENT FOR ME TO GET TO THIS LOCATION DURING THE WORK WEEK, AS I TRAVEL FREQUENTLY AS WELL. THE EARLIEST I CAN GET THE JEEP TO THE CAPE IS FRIDAY, APRIL 26TH AND EVEN THAT IS SUBSTANTIALLY INCONVENIENT - THEY ARE UNWILLING TO PROVIDE ME WITH A LOANER FOR THE SERVICE AS WELL. WE IMMEDIATELY CONTACTED THE SERVICE SUPERVISOR AT THE DEALERSHIP WHO STATED THAT THIS HAS BEEN A COMMON OCCURANCE AND THE OIL COOLER/HOUSING UNIT IS REPLACED OFTEN. AT 47000 MILES THIS SHOULD NEVER HAPPEN AND IS ENEXCEPTABLE.UNTIL THIS EXTENSIVE REPAIR IS COMPLETED THE VEHICLE IS IS RENDERED USELESS AND MY JOB IS NOW INTERRUPTED. NOW IN ADDTION TO THE MISFIRE I NOW HAVE THIS HUGE OIL LEAK TO CONTEND WITH; PLEASE REFER TO THE PICTURE ATTACHED OF THE OIL STAIN THAT WAS DISCOVERED ON MY GARAGE FLOOR.... THE ENTIRE BOTTOM OF THE OF MY TRANSMISSION/BELL HOUSING AND CROSS MEMBER COVERED IN OIL. MOREOVER I JUST RECEIVED AN LETTER INFORMING ME THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG ALSO IS RECALLED AND I HAVE YET TO ADDRESS THIS AS WELL. I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER CHRYSLER PRODUCT AGAIN. I CAN'T TELL YOU THE LEVEL OF DISAPPOINTMENT AND BETRAYAL I FEEL FOR BUYING AN "AMERICAN MADE" CAR. I HOPE CHRYSLER/FIAT CORPERATE IS ENJOYING SHORT CHANGING THE CONSUMER BUY USING INFERIOR AND FAULTY PARTS TO SAVE MONEY AND RIP OFF THE CONSUMER THIS WAY. I AM SURE NO ONE CARES AND I AM JUST WASTING MY TIME BUT THIS SHOULD BE NOTED AND PEOPLE MADE AWARE.
