The tailgate unlocks on its own and becomes unlatched on its own. It is unpredictable but has happened at least once when coming to a stop (still in gear) and once when sitting with the engine off, after having come to a stop. My dogs ride in the back so they could fall out of the vehicle if it occurred while driving; in addition, cargo in the back of the van could fall onto the road if the tailgate came unlatched and opened. I have not taken the van to a dealer because the nearby Ford dealership has a reputation as not being easy to work with, and I don't know who else would be qualified to work on such a problem. The "tailgate open" warnings do occur, when the door unlocks/unlatches. But the lock makes audible noises FREQUENTLY, and it's not always easy to tell if the lock has disengaged or just made a noise.

The driver side door latch failed and the door will no longer latch when closed. Thankfully it failed while the vehicle was stopped. Obviously this is a safety concern as the door can now open on its own and can not be secured closed. The vehicle is currently at a local Ford dealership (Gary Yeoman's Ford) where the component is being replaced. There were no warning lights or symptoms, it was working fine until it failed.

While driving, the car seemed to change gears and then went to neutral and wouldn’t go into any other gear. After turning it off and on, it engaged a couple of times- enough to pull to the side of the road. Once it even felt like it popped into reverse. It now won’t go out of neutral. No warning lights have gone on

After having the panoramic sunroof replaced in 2019 due to a recall, the roof started leaking again causing mold to grow and making us fear for the structural integrity of the vehicle due to the possibility of unseen rust. The Service Department said it was not related to the original recall and that it was an epoxy failure. We feel this is just a continuance of the original defect and there was another recall about leaking.

Jul 13, 2022Fuel system
Vehicle is currently being repaired at a Ford dealer. They have diagnosed the malfunction as a fuel pump failure and have ordered replacement parts. I will ask the service center to save the parts. The vehicle lost power in the fast lane of I5. Traffic was moving at or above the 70 MPH posted speed limit including large trucks. I was able to turn on the 4 way flashers, change lanes, and move the vehicle to the shoulder out of traffic, but the situation could have easily resulted in a collision due to the abrupt loss of power. It was towed to the Ford dealer 15 miles from the incident when it would could not be restarted. Because the shoulder was narrow there was insufficient room for me to safely open the drivers side door and deploy my wheelchair lift and transfer seat to exit the vehicle. It took approximately an hour for AAA to arrive in 100 degree weather. I don't believe the dealer has removed the defective pump yet but they were unable to start the vehicle because of the problem. There was no warning anything was wrong, it simply slowed down and did not respond to giving more gas. Attempts to restart the vehicle on the side of the road resulted in the engine misfiring and rapidly dying. The next morning at the dealer the car turned over OK but did not show any signs of starting. No warning lights were present. This vehicle has only 28,000 miles on it and there are reports of both a Fuel Pump recall on some 2014 Ford Transit Connect Vans, and other early failures on Vans not in the Recall indicating the problem may not be confined within the scope of the original recall.

The drivers door is failing to latch. Ford Dealers have only said there were only recalls on the rear doors. My minivan has the door roped shut for the time being and it is dangerous having to unwrap the rope to exit. Also the smell of fuel inside the vehicle is pronounced and they won't repair the fuel line because I purchased the vehicle used and the previous owner didnt handle it.

The catalytic converter is stopped up, and that is definitely a safety issue, causing extra heat. In the event of it touching almost anything, it makes it more likely than not that a fire will ensue! This happened on the day that I purchased the Car. Within hours. Dealer is LDT Motors in Amarillo Texaa.

While driving, the speedometer dropped to zero, the car milage displayed as ------, the ABS light turned on, the traction control light turned on, and there was a warning that the hill assist was unavailable. I was driving with 4 children in the vehicle and was unable to discern if it was an actual safety issue or an electronic malfunction. We suspect a wheel speed sensor on one of the four tires has failed since an internet search shows this is the likely culprit but it hasn't yet been confirmed.

6-2021: Crackling sound on radio, whether on or off. 2 types: Like bare wires rubbed together, or connecting/disconnecting speaker. ·Crackling persists after vehicle shut off. Eventually stops. 12-2021: ·Radio quit working, crackling sound continued, appears random. ·Observed lights on @ distance. Then off. Vehicle was parked overnight, inactive. 2-2022: ·2-year-old battery died. Dead again in a few days. (Parasitic drain) Mechanic said it needed new radio. New radio was > $600.00, required reconfiguration of dashboard. ·Lost many, not all functions, of SYNC System, & it goes to sleep after a few minutes. Backup camera doesn’t work if SYNC system is asleep. Sometimes revived after pushing SYNC button on steering column. ·Auto electrical mechanic said still a drain on electrical system, but not like before. Rebuilt alternator & refurbished the fuse box too. Said electrical drain was from information control module on dashboard. Said take vehicle to Ford, have them reprogram the module where display screen is located & the drain occurring while vehicle is parked, would stop. ·Ford Technician said they had “no updates” on information control module. Took care of recall & transmission issues, returned the vehicle. oParasitic drain & dead battery continued. 3-2022: ·Battery tests as good but dies in 2 days. Engine quit if jumper cables were removed. Then died before they were removed. Appeared dead, no start even though connected to a good battery via jumper cables. ·Asked dealer to reprogram information control module. ·They gave it back, saying, “It’s acceptable”. oThey disconnected an “aftermarket” module. Went from 64 milliamps to 42 milliamps. Drove 90 minutes & parked. 29 hours later battery died. Dlr. said turn off/disconnect everything BEFORE shutting off vehicle: No automatic lights, heater, phone charger, etc. Apparently this is a body control module (BCM) problem. Not “information control module” problem.

Air bubble in coolant system caused by faulty placement of heater core allows air bubble to form there. This cause no heat or defrost in cab of vehicle. Also causes overheating which leads to cracked block, coolant leak into combustion chamber, destroying catalytic converter and emissions to soar and fuel milage to drop. Engine stumbles and stalls and goes into fail safe mode which could cause an accident because vehicle won’t accelerate or shift.

My van was running fine until the piece that goes on the transmission that makes it shift broke off after that broke I started having transmission problems when I took it to have it checked they told me the piece that broke was a recalled piece for this type of vehicle. So I know that the recalled piece is what caused my transmission to start messing up. Their saying it's going to cost me $9000 to replace the transmission. I feel like this recalled piece causes my transmission to start messing up and I shouldn't have to pay out of pocket that much money for something that was recalled anyways.
