Component/System That Failed: The airbag system failed to deploy during a frontal collision. The vehicle’s front driver and passenger airbags did not activate at the time of impact. The airbag system is still present in the vehicle and is available for inspection upon request. ⸻ Safety Risk: The failure of the airbags to deploy during a significant front-end collision put my safety and the safety of my passengers at serious risk. The impact was forceful enough to cause frame displacement and over $11,000 in structural damage, rendering the vehicle inoperable. Had the collision occurred at a slightly higher speed or involved another passenger vehicle, the lack of airbag protection could have resulted in serious injury or death. ⸻ Reproduced or Confirmed by a Dealer or Service Center: The issue has not been reproduced, as it occurred during a single collision event. However, an independent body shop has confirmed structural frame damage, and Audi of America was provided photos, repair estimates, and the official police report. Audi reviewed the case but denied the claim, stating the crash “did not meet the deceleration threshold” for deployment — despite the vehicle being disabled in the crash. ⸻ Inspected By: •Police: Yes – an official California Highway Patrol report was filed (Report #231220583). •Insurance Representative: Yes – damage was assessed and repairs partially initiated. •Manufacturer: Yes – Audi of America reviewed photos and documentation submitted by me but declined further inspection. •Independent Service Center: Yes – initial damage assessment and frame displacement confirmed. ⸻ Warning Lamps or Symptoms: There were no warning lights or malfunction indicators related to the airbag system before the collision. The vehicle was operating normally at the time of the incident. Post-incident, the airbags never deployed and no system alerts were generated.

Over a period of a week started to smell fuel in the cabin area. I took the vehicle to my mechanics as the closest Audi dealer in 1hr 15mins away on I-10 in mobile Alabama and I did not want to risk the drive. It turns out that the q7 has a recall for 20Z8 which is the fuel pump flange, since the mechanic I use works on Europe models and has worked on both my Audi's before I requested him to complete the job since it was a safety recall. Then I attached all the information to Audi of America stating what the issue was and why I didn't take it to Audi of mobile due to my safety I received an email back from Audi stating since I didn't take the vehicle to mobile and not to a Audi dealership they would not pay for the repairs. Due to the smell of gas and the distance I needed to travel for the repair I deemed this a safety risk for both myself and other road users. Also was not sent anything by Audi about a safety recall for either of my Audi's so how is one meant to know about these things immediately, the recall came out in 2017 this was before I bought the car

The contact owns a 2014 Audi Q7. The contact stated that there was an occasional fuel odor from the exterior of the vehicle and the driver’s side rear seat. The contact was advised by the manufacturer, that the vehicle was previously repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V298000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The contact who is an independent mechanic discovered he could access the fuel tank through the driver’s side rear seat. In addition, the contact noticed the fuel tank had been temporarily repaired with a fuel pump flange to prevent the fuel tank from being cracked over time. The local dealer was contacted, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired due to the cost. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 153,000.

the vehicle was leaking gas. the vehicle rarely would start. fuses easily burn out or go bad due to possible electrical problems. now I am having to purchase maybe it is called a drive shaft? or something that makes the vehicle not go or start?? I am not a mechanic but I pay a lot of money on this vehicle every month, the repairs are extremely high and not wating to ruin my credit due to neglect part of Audi company. I will also get pictures as soon as the mechanic can get the parts and start working on the next problem.

It seems that there is a leak around my fuel tank. That resembles something Audi has put in a recall for other vehicles of my year make and model, but my vin isn’t included in the recall.

I am experiencing a severe oil leak between the engine and gearbox of my Audi Q7. This issue poses a safety risk due to potential engine malfunctions and accidents. Many Hello My name is [XXX] , owner of 2014 Q7 tdi. I am writing to bring to your attention a prevalent issue that has been reported by numerous Audi Q7 TDI vehicle owners, including myself. It has come to my attention, through various online forums such as AudiForum, that a significant number of Q7 TDI owners are experiencing oil leaks between the engine and gearbox. This issue poses a safety risk due to potential engine malfunctions and accidents. Many other Q7 owners have reported similar problems, and Audi America is aware of the issue. Warning signs appear when oil levels are low, indicating the need for constant oil replenishment. The component in question is available for inspection upon request. This issue not only poses a potential safety risk but also has the potential to cause significant damage to the vehicle's engine and drivetrain components. As a concerned owner, I believe it is imperative for Audi to address this issue promptly and comprehensively. Therefore, I am formally requesting that Audi initiate a recall for all affected Audi Q7 TDI vehicles to rectify the oil leak issue. I urge Audi to conduct a thorough investigation into the root cause of the problem and implement appropriate measures to remedy it, ensuring the safety and satisfaction of its customers. Please provide me with information on the formal procedure to file a request for a recall regarding this issue. Additionally, I would appreciate regular updates on the progress of this matter and any actions taken by Audi to address it. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your prompt response and resolution of this issue. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

We have a 2014 Audi Q7 with 60K mileage that we serviced and maintained by Hoffman Audi all the time. On December 27th, while on the freeway, the engine was shut down without any prior alert, with a lot of smoke and oil leakage. With our minimal knowledge, it appears the gasket was frozen, causing the coolant to leak into the engine's unwanted part and damage it completely. This is a manufacturing and poor-quality Audi product that could have risked the life of the passengers on board. We filed a complaint to Audi USA with no response, and insurance declined. We need your kind attention to help us in finding a way to fix the issue as why did Hoffman service center never figure out the issue, if there was one, and why did Audi not give any alert before such a disaster took place that will cost us >24K to fix a $35K car.

Flooding due to improper cleaning of ac valve blockage. I took the car to the dealership due to water leakage in the floorboards. They said they fixed the issue but after within a few weeks the water leakage kept pouring now due to that the water leakage has exceeded its point to which it has now put it self into the electronica areas of the car. Now the car will no longer run and it shows multiple issues with the check engine light constantly on consistent water leakage now there’s mold and water leakage in the electronica area and it’s preventing me from using my car my car is no longer able to drive and I feel it’s due to the consistency of them not being able to control the water leak damage the car has caused

THERE IS A CURRENT RECALL ON THE VEHICLES FOR THE FLANGE AROUND THE FUEL PUMP LEAKING. THE REPAIR DOES NOT FIX THE PROBLEM AND IT WILL REOCCUR. AUDI WILL ONLY FIX THE CAR ONCE. NEXT REPAIR IS ON THE OWNER AND COSTS $1,000 TO REPAIR. AUDI REPAIR FACILITY ADMITS IT IS THE VERY PROBLEM AFFECTED IN THE RECALL AND THAT MY VEHICLE IS LEAKING SO MUCH FUEL IT IS IN IMMINENT DANGER OF CATCHING FIRE. THEY WILL NOT EVEN LET IT LEAVE THE FACILITY UNLESS IT IS TOWED ONLY BECAUSE OF THE SEVERITY OF THE LEAK. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO AUDI ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AFTER THE FIRST RECALL REPAIR WAS DONE SAYING THEIR WAS A FUEL SMELL ONLY TO HAVE THE CAR RETURNED SAYING IT WAS NORMAL. ONCE THE WARRANTY EXPIRED NOW THEY SAY IT HAS A FUEL LEAK AND REFUSE TO PAY FOR REPAIRS.

THE GLOW PLUG LIGHT CAME ON AND OFF AND THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY LOSE ACCELERATION (NO POWER) ON THE FREEWAY DURING NORMAL DRIVING. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THAT THIS HAPPENS TO ME. THE FIRST TIME THAT IT HAPPENED IN JUNE OF 2020, THE RECALL WAS DONE ON BY AUDI DEALER ASSUMING THAT THE PROBLEM WOULD GO AWAY, BUT IT CAME BACK.

MY FAMILY AND I WERE DRIVING ABOUT 55MPH AND THE GLOW PLUG WARNING LIGHT STARTED FLASHING AND THE VEHICLE STALLED AFTER A MILE OR SO. THE DEALER SAID THAT THE FUEL WAS CONTAMINATED AND THAT THE WHOLE FUEL SYSTEM HAD TO BE REPLACED AND WAS GOING TO COST MORE THAN $11000. THE SERVICE GUY SAID THE DEALER WAS PAYING FOR IT BECAUSE THEY ARE GOOD GUYS, BOLONI. WE COULD HAVE HAD AN ACCIDENT AND DIED BECAUSE IT WAS AT NIGHT ON A 2 WAY ROAD AND BARELY NO ROOM ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I SAY FROM EVERYWHERE I'VE READ IT IS A FAULTY HPFP. CAR ONLY HAS 65000 MILES TOO.

AT 40,398 MILES THE CRANKSHAFT DAMPENER PULLEY FAILED BREAKING OFF AT THE HARD RUBBER CENTER IN TURN THROWING THE SEPENTINE BELT. AT THAT POINT POWER STEERING WAS LOST ALONG WITH ALL OTHER FUNCTIONS DRIVEN BY THE SEPENTINE BELT. AN INTERNET SEARCH TURNED UP A NUMBER OF AUDI OWNERS HAVING THE SAME HAPPEN TO THEM BETWEEN 40 TO 50,00 MILES. THIS SAFETY FAILURE AT SUCH LOW MILEAGE IS UNWARRANTED. THE REPLACEMENT PART APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN REDESIGNED AND MORE ROBUST .. AUDI MUST REALIZE THAT THE ORIGINAL PART WAS FAULTY. FOR ME, THANKFULLY IT HAPPENED WHILE I WAS STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT AND NOT TRAVELING AT SPEED ON THE HIGHWAY.

IN JANUARY 2019, WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON CA 110 IN EXCESS OF 60 MPH, THE AUDI Q7 TDI'S GLOW PLUG INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON, I LOST ACCELERATION AND A FEW MINUTES LATER, MY ENGINE SHUT OFF AND I WAS STUCK IN THE LEFT LANE. I HAD TO CALL 911 AND HAVE CHP STOP ALL TRAFFIC AND PUSH MY CAR TO THE SHOULDER WHILE I AWAITED A TOW TRUCK. AUDI DTLA TOLD ME THAT THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP FAILED AND THAT THERE WAS METAL SHRAPNEL IN MY FUEL LINE AND IT ALL HAD TO BE REPLACED. THEY SAID THIS WAS A DIESEL WARRANTY COVERED ISSUE AND WE DID NOT PAY ANY CHARGE. IN JUNE 2019 WHILE DRIVING ON INTERSTATE 10 IN AZ, THE GLOW PLUG LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN AND WE LOST ACCELERATION WHILE DRIVING OVER 60 MPH. WE IMMEDIATELY EXITED THE HIGHWAY AND SHUT OFF THE ENGINE BEFORE THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN ON US, AS IT DID IN JANUARY. WE WAITED AN HOUR IN 105 DEGREE HEAT IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE, UNTIL WE WERE TOWED 80 MILES TO AUDI PEORIA, WHO CLAIM THEY CANNOT IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM. THEY TOLD US TO RIDE IN THE CAR ON TOP OF THE TOW TRUCK. WE BELIEVE THERE IS EITHER AN ONGOING HPFP ISSUE, OR PERHAPS SOMETHING RELATED TO THE DIESEL MODIFICATION, OR THAT THIS PARTICULAR CAR IS A LEMON - 2 BREAKDOWNS IN 5 MONTHS, WITHIN 11,500 MILES. THE SCARIEST PART IS THAT WE WERE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS WITH OUR CHILDREN IN THE CAR WHEN THE CAR LOST ACCELERATION. WE WERE LUCKY THAT WE DID NOT GET HURT OR CAUSE ANY ACCIDENTS, BUT THE AUDI Q7 TDI, WHETHER IT'S JUST THIS VEHICLE OR ALL 2014 Q7 TDIS ARE NOT SAFE. AUDI AMERICA, INC. HAS REFUSED TO REPURCHASE THE CAR OR PROVIDE ANY OTHER ASSISTANCE OR REMEDY. WE REFUSE TO RIDE THE CAR BECAUSE WE ARE SCARED OF ANOTHER INCIDENT. WE HAVE WARRANTIES ON THE CAR, BUT THAT ONLY COVERS REPAIRS, IT DOESN'T PREVENT YOU FROM GETTING KILLED ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN THEY CANNOT IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM WITH THE CAR. NO ONE AT AUDI HAS DIAGNOSED THE JUNE 2019 PROBLEM WE EXPERIENCED.

How to use these: a complaint is one owner’s report, filed voluntarily and published unverified. Patterns matter more than any single story. If several owners describe the same failure at similar mileage, put that system at the top of your pre-purchase inspection list. Back to the full 2014 Audi Q7 verdict →
