TL* TAKATA RECALL. THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 JAGUAR XF. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE WAS UNABLE TO TRADE IN THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER (PHILLIPS CHEVROLET OF LANSING, 17730 TORRENCE AVE, LANSING, IL 60438, (708) 474-0000) STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V009000 (AIR BAGS), BUT DID NOT KNOW WHEN THE REMEDY AND PART WOULD BECOME AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT ALSO CONTACTED ANOTHER DEALER (JAGUAR ORLAND PARK, 8031 W 159TH ST, TINLEY PARK, IL 60477, (877) 307-1288). THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED TO DETERMINE WHEN THE REMEDY AND PART WOULD BE SUPPLIED TO A DEALER. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.

TAKATA RECALL I HAVE A 2013 JAGUAR XF 3.0 THAT BEGAN RUNNING A LITTLE ROUGH AROUND 30,000 MILES IN 2016. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND WHEN I TOOK IT BACK TO THE RETAILER THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG "POSSIBLY A LOOSE GAS CAP." A FEW WEEK LATER, TOWARDS THE END OF 2016 AND LESS THAN 40,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN, BUT THIS TIME THE CAR STARTED TO SMOKE AND OVERHEAT, SO I PULLED OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY, INTO A PARKING LOT AS QUICKLY AS I COULD. THE COOLANT HAD BEEN LEAKING AND WAS DANGEROUSLY LOW. I ADDED COOLANT AS PER THE JAGUAR HANDBOOK INSTRUCTION AND ABOUT AN HOUR LATER TRIED TO GET BACK ON THE ROAD. THE CAR RAN FINE FOR A FEW MILES, BUT ONCE I STARTED TO ACCELERATE INTO THE 50-60 MPH RANGE ONTO THE HIGHWAY AGAIN A FEW MILES DOWN THE ROAD, THE SAME THING HAPPENED. IT STARTED TO OVERHEAT AND SMOKE TERRIBLY. I PULLED OVER TO THE SHOULDER AS QUICKLY AS SAFELY POSSIBLE AND NOTIFIED JAGUAR ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE IN ORDER TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED BACK TO THE DEALERSHIPS SERVICE DEPARTMENT TO BE WORKED ON. THE DEALERSHIP ENDED UP REPLACING THE ENGINE. I INSISTED THAT I WAS NOT COMFORTABLE WITH THIS CAR ANYMORE AND WANTED AN EXTENDED BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY. I WAS ASSURED THAT THEY HAD PRACTICALLY "REPLACED EVERYTHING UNDER THE HOOD AND IT WOULD RUN LIKE A BRAND NEW CAR." THIS WAS 8 MONTHS AGO. THE CAR HAS SINCE BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR 3 ADDITIONAL MONTHS ON 10+ DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. THE CAR IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE, IT BREAKS DOWN WHEN STARTING OR SOMETIMES EVEN WHEN ON THE HIGHWAY AND IS VERY DANGEROUS. IVE HAD QUITE A FEW CLOSE CALLS. THIS CAR IS DANGEROUS AND THE DEALERSHIP EITHER CANNOT FIX IT OR WANTS TO KEEP PUTTING BAND AIDES ON IT UNTIL MY WARRANTY IS OUT THEN ITS NOT THEIR PROBLEM ANYMORE. I HAVE LOST MY JOB DUE TO THE UNRELIABILITY OF THIS LEMON VEHICLE AND THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT IN FORT MYERS JAGUAR.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 JAGUAR XF. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP AND FUEL INJECTOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS AWARE OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V091000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE), BUT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,000.

DEAR SIR OR MA'AM, I AM WRITING TO INFORM YOU OF WHAT I VIEW AS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE IN HOPES THAT YOU WILL CONSIDER INVESTIGATING THE MATTER. ON MARCH 13, 2015, I PURCHASED A 2013 JAGUAR XF, (VIN: [XXX]), THAT WAS CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED, BUT HAD NEVER BEEN OWNED BY ANYONE EXCEPT FOR THE DEALERSHIP.THE VEHICLE HAD ONLY 21,000 MILES AND WAS STATED AS HAVING AND APPEARED TO HAVE FAIRLY NEW TIRES. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED FROM CAPITOL LUXURY CARS STATED AS "TEK AUTOMOTIVE GROUP, LLC." ON THE CAR CARE PLAN, LOCATED AT 347 NEW KARNER RD.,RTE 155, COLONIE, NEW YORK 12205, (518) 452-1100. ON AUGUST 6, 2015 ON THE WAY HOME FROM WORK ON INTERSTATE 95 SOUTH, THE VEHICLE TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT HAD COME ON.I DECIDED AS SOON I WAS OFF THE MAJOR ROUTE I WOULD STOP TO PUT AIR IN THE TIRE. THE TIRE BLEW OUT COMPLETELY, OUT OF NOWHERE, NEARLY CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE IT HAD BEEN PURCHASED THE NEXT DAY. I WAS TOLD THAT RIM (PASSENGER RIGHT REAR) WAS CRACKED AND THEY DID NOT KNOW THE CAUSE OF THE TIRE BLOW-OUT. THE TIRE WAS UNDER WARRANTY THE COST WAS STILL $1,168.36 FOR ONE TIRE RIM ISSUE. THEN ON SEPTEMBER 21, 2015, THE PASSENGER RIGHT FRONT TIRE BECAME BALLED DUE TO AN IMPROPER ALIGNMENT I HAD TO PAY $1,310.27 FOR 4 WINTER TIRES. THEN ON OCTOBER 30, 2015 ANOTHER TIRE WAS NOT HOLDING AIR. I WAS TOLD THE DRIVER SIDE LEFT RIM WAS CRACKED AND THAT AGAIN THE RIM WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. I WHOLE HEARTED REFUSED TO PAY ANOTHER $1,200 FOR ONE RIM/REPAIR. IN A MEETING WITH THE GENERAL MANAGER, ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT, MAINTENANCE SHOP FOREMAN, AND THE SERVICE ADVISOR, THE FOREMAN STATED THAT HE THOUGHT THE TIRE ISSUE WAS CAUSED BY POTHOLES IN THE AREA AND THAT IN GENERAL HE HAS SEEN A LOT OF RIMS CRACKED. ON SEPT 27, 2013 AROUND 7A.M., I DROVE MY CAR TO THE MAIL BOX WHERE I PULLED OVER ON A ROAD WITH A SLIGHT INCLINE AND UP ON THE ROUNDED CURB, PUT IT IN PARK, OPENED THE DOOR, WALK ALONG THE SIDE OF THE CAR, CROSSED IN FRONT TO RETRIEVE MY MAIL. AFTER GETTING MY MAIL, WHEN I TURNED AROUND TO GO BACK TO THE CAR, I SAW IT DRIVING FORWARD AND CROSSING THE ROAD TOWARDS THE OTHER SIDE! INSTINCTIVELY I JUMPED IN THE PASSENGER SIDE AND WAS TRYING TO REACH THE BRAKE PEDAL WHEN THE CAR HIT THE CURB, THROWING ME BACK A BIT. THE IMPACT OF THE CURB MUST HAVE TURNED THE WHEELS TO THE LEFT AND THE CAR PROCEEDED DOWN AN EMBANKMENT AND HIT A TREE WHICH FINALLY STOPPED THE CAR. I CONTEST THAT THE CAR COULD NOT HAVE ORIGINALLY BEEN IN DRIVE WHEN I GOT OUT OF THE CAR TO RETRIEVE MY MAIL AS I WALKED IN FRONT OF IT. I BELIEVE THE GEAR POPPED OUT OF PARK AND VOLUNTARILY WENT INTO DRIVE WHILE I WAS RETRIEVING MY MAIL. *TR
