ON THE HIGHWAY, MERRITT 15 IN CT, THE CAR COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN, NO POWER BRAKES, STEERING, NO ABILITY TO SPEED UP. ENGINE SHUT OFF, ALL ELECTRICAL SHUT OFF. LUCKILY I WAS GOING SLOW SINCE MY EXIT WAS COMING UP BUT I LOST ALL ABILITY TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE IN A SAFE WAY AND IF I WAS GOING THE HIGHWAY SPEED IT COULD HAVE ENDED VERY BADLY.

MY FIRST INCIDENT I WAS APPROACHING AN INTERSECTION WITH A STOP SIGN. I SLOWED DOWN TO STOP AT THE STOP SIGN AND WHEN I HIT THE BRAKE THE CAR ACCELERATED THROUGH THE INTERSECTION. I COULDN'T STOP OR CONTROL THE CAR AND THANKFULLY AVOIDED WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN A MAJOR ACCIDENT. THE SECOND TIME JUST MINUTES AFTER THIS OCCURRED, IT HAPPEN EXACTLY THE SAME WAY. I SLOWED TO STOP AT A STOP SIGN AND WHEN I HIT THE BRAKE THE CAR ACCELERATED RIGHT THROUGH THE STOP SIGN. AT THIS POINT I WAS ABOUT A MILE FROM HOME AND VERY SLOWLY DROVE A BACK ROAD HOME AND HAVE NOT DRIVEN THE CAR SINCE. *TR

How to use these: a complaint is one owner’s report, filed voluntarily and published unverified. Patterns matter more than any single story. If several owners describe the same failure at similar mileage, put that system at the top of your pre-purchase inspection list. Back to the full 2012 Land Rover Range Rover Phev verdict →
