The contact owned a 2026 Mercedes-Benz EQE 320+. The contact stated that while driving forward into the parking space and depressing the brake pedal, the transmission was shifted from park to drive to move up in the parking space, and the vehicle unintendedly accelerated over the curb. After stopping the vehicle, the contact shifted to reverse to back into the parking space. The vehicle suddenly accelerated and drove across the parking lot, and crashed into a parked vehicle. The contact shifted to drive (D), and the vehicle unintentionally accelerated, drove across the parking lot, over the curb, and crashed into a concrete column of a four-story apartment building. During the crash, the air bag deployed, and the contact was knocked unconscious. The contact sustained a concussion and neck injury, left hip injury, and was rushed to the hospital. A Police report was filed at the scene, and the vehicle was deemed destroyed and towed away. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 1,300.
