What 233 owners told NHTSA about the 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk

When I push the turn signal stockforward to initiate the highbeams, the highbeam function does not work. The lever clicks into position as it should, but it does not initiate the high beam mode. It will work first thing in the morning when I start my car, but after three or four minutes, the highbeams disengage and goes back to low beam.When I use the flash-to-pass mode by pulling the lever toward me, the highbeams do work. The problem began about two weeks ago when driving home at night, I had no highbeams which was a safety issue. I have not taken my vehicle to the dealership for anyone to take a look at the issue yet. From what I’ve read it seems like it’s a problem with the multifunction switch in which other 2024 Jeep grand Cherokees had a recall. I don’t abuse my vehicle components. In fact, I’m probably extra careful to use them properly and I use them with ease. My car is still under warranty. Is this something that is typically covered under warranty? I cannot seem to find a recall for the matter. My Vin number returns zero recalls.

I am the owner of a 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee (WL) subject to Safety Recall 12B / NHTSA 24V-130, concerning high beam headlamps that fail to respond when the master lighting switch is set to the AUTO position. I contacted Flagship Chrysler to schedule the free recall repair. The dealer refused to perform the service, claiming my vehicle does not qualify because it lacks the Auto High Beam feature (sales code LMS). However, according to the official recall documentation, the recall applies specifically to vehicles WITHOUT the Auto High Beam Headlamps feature (sales code LMS). My vehicle does have the Auto Lights function but does not have Auto High Beam — which is precisely the condition described in the recall scope. The dealer appears to be confusing Auto Lights with Auto High Beam, and is incorrectly excluding my vehicle from a mandatory safety recall. This repair is required by Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 108 S9.4, and I am being denied a free remedy I am legally entitled to. I am requesting NHTSA's assistance in ensuring the dealer complies with their legal obligation to perform this recall repair at no charge.

The rear turn signal on the 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee is very small. Following vehicles seem to have difficulty in seeing a signaled turn. This condition is exacerbated when driving into the sun. On several occasions, when attempting a left-hand turn and stopped for oncoming traffic, following vehicles have had to brake hard to avoid a rear end collision. This puts the occupants of both vehicles at risk for injury. It is unknown if this condition has been reported to the manufacturer. Because it is a design issue it is unlikely to be resolved by a dealer. The turn signal indicator in the instrument panel was functioning and a visual conformation of the functioning turn signal was made after the incident.

The contact stated that the taillights failed to illuminate until manually turned on. The failure occurred intermittently. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who could not determine the cause of the failure. The contact was informed to return the vehicle to the dealer if the failure occurred again. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was taken to another dealer, Ron Carter Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram League City (3535 Gulf Fwy, League City, TX 77573) however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 1,000.

High beams only working when physically holding the handle down. Automatic high beams not working at all and won’t come on unless you turn off automatic high beams. We took it into Flow Jeep in Charlottesville today where they told us they had heard about this issue from others, but that Dodge Jeep had not found fix and continue to claim it works as it’s supposed to. That cannot be when you cannot get the high beams to come on without physically holding the paddle. They cut the automatic highbeams on, which now means I cannot get my highbeams to come on at all unless I physically hold the handle down. You cannot drive holding that down the entire time. The car is now not sensing when it’s evening time and changing the interior lighting, so it’s not as bright. I have to go in and physically change that. We live in the country. This is a huge safety risk. We need Jeep to fix this.

Gear shifter moving when vehicle is dead. Dealer is working on vehicle again and I have been without it for a total of approximately 24 days since I purchased in November 2023.

The high beams do not work when the lights are in the "Auto" position. When the lever is pushed forward to manually turn on the high beams, nothing happens but when it is pulled back the high beams will come on so long as it is being held back. The high beams will only work correctly when the lights are in the "ON" position. I have had this Jeep at the dealership three times and they cannot diagnose the problem or find any error codes. This appears to be a problem with many 2023/2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee's according to online comments and this also appears to be a similar issue as the recall which was issued in 2021 for that model of Jeep Grand Cherokee (21V-797 / Y66 Recall - These vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment).

Just purchased a new 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee Altitude - vehicle is not equipped with automatic high beams. When the master lighting switch is set to the auto position, the high beam headlights will not activate unless the master lighting switch is first changed to the 'on" position. In 2021 there was a recall for this issue on Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo's based on these vehicles failing to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment." NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V797000. It is unsafe to be moving the light switch from auto to manual in order to turn the high beams on. This will cause issues not having the lights set on auto as it can be forgotten to turn the headlights back on Auto so you aren't driving with the headlights off. Dealer explained this is how it works. There is obviously an ongoing problem being that there has been a recall issued previously for this exact problem.
