These model “K67” BMW bikes have been having issues with ignition coil failures on multiple bikes. I have had two failures so far within a 3 month/1500mile span on my bike. Initial failure caused bike to shut off suddenly while riding (9-16-24 roughly 5200 miles) dealership replaced coil under warranty Cylinder 4 failure. Second time(12-31-24 roughly 6,626 miles) bike cut off all power on the freeway causing wait of 3 hours for BMW to have a tow sent out. Pulled codes and found the same coil failure codes as previous incident. Multiple groups & forums of people having the same failures on these bikes. I’ve already had to have a very common water pump failure on this bike at 1800 miles roughly which is also extremely common with this generation bike also.

How to use these: a complaint is one owner’s report, filed voluntarily and published unverified. Patterns matter more than any single story. If several owners describe the same failure at similar mileage, put that system at the top of your pre-purchase inspection list. Back to the full 2024 BMW S 1000 Rr verdict →
