Head Gasket, premature failure at 49k miles. Online this a very common issue for Jetta and Taos owners that Volkswagen is not addressing through a recall. This will cause engines to fail.

OBD-II port is not connected properly meaning that when a checked engine light came on I am unable to diagnose the issue.

Car has been at the Henderson VW repair shop 30 days. Two months ago coolant light was on. Took it in and they topped it off. No paperwork. Next a 20,000 maintenance-. No alerts. Last month coolant light again. Took it in - blown head gasket at 22,000 miles.

bought this car brand new and after couple of days when I get on highway and trying to give gas the car started shaking vigorously and lost engine power. check engine light came on. pulled over to the shoulder and turned off the car. after a minute started the car and it's working fine. took it to dealer next day and they said there was codes for cylinders 1 & 3 misfire, but they can't reproduce the problem when they drove it. so, can't do anything. after a year (car is only used for local driving) while I was driving on highway from a game when I am giving gas to pass vehicles, I could feel shaking from engine like its misfiring and check engine started flashing. but when I took leg off the pedal and give gas slowly its working fine and engine light went off. only 7k miles on the car and engine has misfiring issue creating loss of power which is a safety concern on highways. other owners report similar issues.

The head gasket is leaking coolant from between the block and the head. This can cause overheating of the vehicle or fires. Can also affect the motor. This problem was identified by a dealer and was originally noticed due to low coolant warning when driving the car. Vehicle is available for inspection if needed

Engine misfire on all cylinders. Engine start/stop failure, check engine light illuminates. Vehicle hesitates and looses power when accelerating. Vehicle then stalls while operating. Happens while in traffic or trying to pull out from intersection causing vehicle to stop in roadway. Almost causes crashes from rear due to sudden stop and sides due to not clearing the intersection. Dealer confirmed the issue but states there is no repair or known fix. Dealer said to use premium fuel which is not required by manufacturer. Problem still occurred with premium fuel. Several trips to two separate dealers and both state there is no fix for the dangerous issue just to keep driving it. The vehicle is available for inspection. This issues is occurring in other 2022 jettas and Taos models. Dealer stated they were aware of the issue but vw does not have a fix. Has occurred multiple times with my vehicle.

The contact owns a 2022 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact stated while driving 50 MPH, a knocking sound was coming from the engine compartment, and the vehicle started shaking and stalled. The contact stated that the check engine and electronic power control (EPC) warning lights were illuminated. The contact pulled the vehicle over to the shoulder of the highway where the vehicle remained. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired or diagnosed. The failure mileage was approximately 4,500.

3/3/23 My son started out onto the road outside our home. The car would not accelerate past 20 mph. The engine light flashed. My son turned around and brought the car back home. I brought the car in for service. The engine light was off and the car was able to accelerate on the way to the dealer. The dealer could not reproduce the problem. 5 codes were noted. 4/18/23. My son started home from school. The car again would not accelerate past 20 mph. The engine light flashed. The problem resolved and within a couple of minutes repeated. The car made it home and the engine light eventually went off. I brought the car in for service and the dealer could not reproduce the problem. Codes again were present. Since the dealer could not reproduce the problem no repairs were made. The problem is a huge concern because the car will not accelerate past 20mph. This is especially concerning on highway and expressway driving.

The cars computer that controls the engine broke 2 months ago. Now the same issue with the car

Electronic Power Control (EPC) issue: The car unit bogs down the acceleration and limits the RPMs, making it dangerous to drive on high way or even local road. The issue pops up spontaneously but went away after car was OFF for hour and restarted. Engine runs ruff and shacks along with laud banging sounds from under car. Suspect sensors, other messages seem to be out of place, such as "turn lights on" in morning when driving directly into sun light or the large red accident display with nothing around at all, different locations. Scan taken of car by dealer, nothing to explain why, however 2 plugs were somewhat dirty & will be replaced, only 1800 miles on car. Other errors on display, the yellow Front Assist which switched between that and the ECP, to far left under the temperature a yellow triangle priority symbol (some what red) These all came on at time of fault. Speed varied from 20 to 30 even when pushing pedal to bottom.

How to use these: a complaint is one owner’s report, filed voluntarily and published unverified. Patterns matter more than any single story. If several owners describe the same failure at similar mileage, put that system at the top of your pre-purchase inspection list. Back to the full 2022 Volkswagen Jetta Hev verdict →
