My truck was started in the morning and as it sat idle in the driveway I started attaching my trailer. By the time I got the trailer attached(20 seconds) there was smoke pouring out from under the hood. I immediately turned off the truck popped the hood and it was engulfed in flames. I was able to put out the fire with the garden hose. No check engine lights, no warning lights on dash, and I had just got it back from the dealership 2 days earlier and it passed a safety inspection before I picked it up. Im not sure what component failed but whatever did caused a fire

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? FACTORY TRAILER BRAKE CONTROL UNIT. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? BRAKE CONTROL INTERMITTENTLY FAIL TO WORK. NOT ABLE TO STOP 15,000 LB TRAILER. WEIGHT PUSHS VEICHLE OUT OF CONTROL. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? NEVER DOES IT FOR THE DEALER OR INDEPENDENT SERVICE CENTER AND THEY TOW MY TRAILER AROUND SEVERAL TIMES. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? DEALER & SERVICE CENTER Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? NO NO HOW DO I GET HELP IT IS A 2022 RAM 2500 BROUGHT NEW BY ME AND STARTED HAVING TROUBLE OFF AND ON SINCE THE FIRST 1,000 MILES AND NOW HAVE 26,000 MILES. I READ ABOUT THE RECALLS ON THE 2024 2025 RAM 2500 3500 MODELS WITH AN ENGINEERING PROBLEM ON TWO DIFFERENT VENDORS MAKING CONTROLERS FOR FCA.

Turning into a gas station parking lot in Colfax, Ca noticed smoke coming from under hood and there were flames in the engine compartment. No warning lights. A fire extinguisher was used to put out fire. Fire department responded. Truck was towed to John L Sullivan Dodge Chrysler Jeep RAM 950 Harter Pkwy, Yuba City, CA 95993. Report was filed with Chrysler at 800-992-1997 11/16/2023 case #[XXX]. Have had no further response from Chrysler. Brand new Ram 2500 Diesel caught fire after about 1100 miles. Best I can tell it started around the alternator. Made a low “whirring” or “humming” noise during a few short drives just prior to the event that had not happened before. I was just parking when I noticed smoke coming from under the hood and opened it up to find a small fire involving the alternator and extinguished it with a fire extinguisher. The fire department came out and ensured it was extinguished and then a fire investigator came out and conducted an investigation. Took three days to get the dealership to accept the truck being towed back so it can be investigated by manufacturer.
