Ever since I purchased my brand new vehicle in 2021, I have had a recurring issue where the cruise control will randomly turn off, with no warnings or alerts showing on the dash, and will not allow the cruise to be set again until I have either turned off the vehicle or my speed has decreased down into the single digits. The vehicle has been seen multiple times by the local Honda dealership with no success on getting this issue to stop. The dealership has been able to reproduce the issue and has said it was due to a software update but even after updating the software, the issue persists. I am asking for this issue to be escalated as I use this vehicle to commute 90 miles to work each day and almost every other day, I get the same issue with the cruise control turning off during my drive. There is not a set location that it turns off at. There is not a certain amount of miles it will turn off at. It is always random. Weather is not a factor either. I am extremely upset that I continue to have this issue and the issue has yet to be resolved 5 years later. Please let me know what options I have.

Issue happens whenever I use adaptive Cruise control for any extended period of time. Typically occurs in less than an hour. The vehicle will be in active cruise mode and then the cruise control will suddenly shutoff and a few beeps are heard. I am unable to reactivate cruise control until I perform a key cycle at which point the cruise can be activated again.

Recall repair completed 6/13/2025 (steering related recall) A steering recall repair was completed on 6/13/20025 on my vehicle. The steering felt normal for approximately one week then began sticking again and has progressively worsened. The steering now binds and physically "grabs" 100% of the time. While navigating through curves, the steering wheel remains in the turned position and does not return smoothly to center. When attempting to correct, the steering overcorrects due to the binding sensation. This has resulted in at least two near-collision events. The vehicle is driven approximately 70 highway miles daily, creating a significant safety concern. No steering warning lights are illuminated. Additionally, adaptive cruise control also intermittently stops working while driving and will not re-engage until the ignition is turned off and restarted. When attempting to re-engage, the system emits three beeps and will not activate. The vehicle was evaluated at an authorized Honda dealership on 3/2/2026. The dealer stated they could not reproduce the steering or adaptive cruise control issue. A brake switch circuit code (C0041-14) and condensation in a taillight assembly were noted, and taillight replacement was suggested before further diagnosis. However, the steering binding continues during normal operation. An aftermarket lighting module (installed by a prior owner years ago) was noted. However, the vehicle has been serviced, and a 21-point inspection performed several times, of which revealed no issues with either the taillight or the installed lighting. The vehicle did have steering issues before the recall repair and had every symptom that was stated in the recall. After the repair there were no issues for at least a week, even with the aftermarket component being present, and then the malfunction returned and worsened as time went on. This condition poses a serious safety risk. The vehicle is available for inspection.

The vehicle will randomly say these warnings: Brake system problem. Brake performance may be reduced. See your dealer. Brake hold system problem. Apply brake when stopped. See your dealer. Anti-lock brake system problem. Brake performance may be reduced. See your dealer. Vehicle stability system assist problem. Reduced traction and handling. See your dealer. Electric parking brake system problem. Parking brake not available. See your dealer. I have shut the vehicle down and checked the VSA with no leaks and full fluid in reservoir. I checked the harness and the wires are great. I checked the the brake unit to make sure they were not loose. I also checked the parking button and observed it to be clean from debris. This is happening to multiple people with the new Honda Civics and has now became a safety as it will make the vehicle brake slower and not be available for forward collision. Is anyone else dealing with this and what was the fix. Thanks.

Went to start my car one night after it had been perfectly fine throughout the day when 5 warning lights came on, Lane Keeping assist system, Collision mitigation braking system, Road Departure mitigation system. Auto High Beam problem and Adaptive Cruise Control system problem. I immediately went online to see how i could possibly fix the problem and found numerous message boards with people with fairly new low mileage Hondas complaining about the same issue and stating either various completely different solutions or no luck finding a solution. Other than those warning lights everything else on the car is functioning right and the battery is still in good shape.

while in park, out of the blue, four different types of ADAS lights came on the dashboard all at the same time. (ACC, Collision mitigation system problem, road departure mitigation system problem, & brake system). Cruise control, automatic, high beams, etc. no longer worked. Dashboard said to take the car to the dealership. at the dealership, Honda said there was a malfunction with the radar sensor. They ran the diagnostic test, and after updating the system, the problem was fixed.

I rented this car. The adaptive cruise worked great in the daytime, but when it got dark and started to rain, the system started to lose its ability to detect other vehicles. Instead of disabling itself like it should have, the system continued to operate. It often would detect vehicles intermittently, speeding up and slowing down randomly and abruptly. The worst incident was when I was behind an unloaded flatbed semi (again, it was dark and raining.) The car lost track of the semi and accelerated to my set speed. As I got closer, but not THAT close, the car suddenly thought I was much closer than I was and initiated automated emergency braking. It then lost sight of the semi and repeated this cycle a few more times before I turned off cruise control. There was no one behind me, or this could have been a serious accident. I looked in the owner's manual to see how to disable the system and was appalled to see that it uses a single camera instead of a radar. This is obviously unsafe in bad weather, and the system did not disable itself appropriately.

[XXX] The power steering column locked up while driving down [XXX] causing an incident that caused the car to become a total loss. A police report was generated where II stated the power steering column locked which caused the incident, I informed my insurance company immediately and throughout the dealings with my insurance company and Honda Collision center I kept stating the steering column locking as the issue. I even reached out to Honda Automobile Customer spoke to Danielle and Casey at 1-888-234-2138 on 10/4/2024 at 3:36 pm in which I was advised of the recall inspect EPS part 23089. Honda Collision center advisor drove the car around the parking lot and made an assumption it was not the power steering column. I have since 8/31/2024 have been looking for an attorney to sue Honda and now I have the recall letter sent by Honda I hopefully will be able to retain one. All of the lights come on periodically (lane departure can’t be used, it says braking system error, it says braking system could be decreased and says to have car serviced) I’ve taken it to the dealership once and they could not replicate it and said it could be a sensor but wasn’t sure I paid for a inspection because they didn’t know. Searching things now there are a ton of forums with the same problem for the same model and make.

My 2022 Honda Civic has been having issues with the EPS Rack and Parts. There has been a recall on this part on the Honda Civics and unfortunately my vehicle was not on the list of cars that was made in the manufacturing time. My car is extremely hard to turn the steering wheel while driving and it causes my cruise control steering system to not work correctly almost causing many accidents. I have also had to buy 2 new sets of tires as it has caused them to wear down faster. Ive had alignments and the car will still steer me to the right direction. The front tires rub very harshly when I need to make a turn. When turning it makes many noises. When I go start to go about 45mph the car will start shaking very harshly until 80mph. The car started to shake and make clunking noises about 6 months in to me having the vehicle and the Honda dealership said it was normal and the issues continued to get worse. As soon as I saw the recall come out I quickly scheduled an appointment for it to be looked at just for my specific car to not be on the list but have all issues that the recall is creating on these vehicles. This is very dangerous as I have small children and the issues continue to worsen.

On multiple occaisions the forward collision braking system has engaged erroniously while traveling on highways or interstates. Sudden heavy braking in these scenarios is disorienting and puts my at higher risk of rear end collision and of traction loss. The Honda dealer has been made aware of the issue but has dismissed it and refused to forward the complaint to Honda. There were no warnings or notifications other than the indicator that the forward collision braking system was being engaged.

This Incident occurs daily and poses a SEVERE risk to not only myself but other vehicles on the road, with ADAS systems off the 11th gen civics seem to have a mind of its own. When traveling above 40 Mph on a long curvy road/highway or raining, the steering wheel becomes "Notchy" and will lock in place for moments at a time. The only way to gain control of the steering wheel is to apply extra force and once applied the steering wheel is released and causes the driver to overcorrect. I purchased my civic 2 months ago purely for its reliability and the safety ratings given by the NHSTA. Honda has initially released the service bulletin to address their faulty replacement racks stating "certain service part electric power steering (EPS) gearbox assemblies were not made to proper specification. " In reality this is a LIE they are trying to say the scope is less than 5% of their vehicles but the truth is that every single vehicle sold with this same rack has or will in the short future report this issue, some drivers think it is only "annoying" and some dealers are telling customers its "Normal" I am completely appalled that there has not been a Stop-sale issued for this as the main component of a car is the steering and if that is faulty than what else matters! they have managed to put the same rack in multiple vehicles in the last few years and you wont begin to experience the issue unless you drive (few 1,000MI on the car) longer than 45 minutes. Civic Type R's are less likely to experience this as that vehicle uses a different rack (Probably more $). Owners who have gotten a replacement eps system are finding the issue to reoccur after 12 months. This points to the fact that not only is this a manufacturing/Quality issue but a PURLEY FAILED Engineering design. I have an appt with a dealer but they will replace the rack with another faulty one, Honda needs to shut everything down and put the safety of their customers first before we all end up dead or kill someone.

While driving the car with the cruise set at any random speed, the adaptive cruise control would "cancel" and a long beep noise would sound. When attempting to "resume" cruise control, three quick beeps can be heard and the cruise control would not activate. The car has to be shut off and cranked back up for the cruise control to work again. The dealership I took it to claimed they could not recreate the issue. There are no DTC codes and no warning lights. It has been happening since I purchased the vehicle in February of 2022. The sudden cancellation of the cruise control can pose a safety issue for drivers behind me and myself.

-What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Forward collision warning and accelerator pedal How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Traffic travelling at 45+ mph had to change lanes to avoid rear ending me after I pulled out onto the frontage roads from a stop and the accelerator pedal stopped responding (rpms went to idle). If there was less time to pull onto the road and/or others couldn't change lanes this could have been very bad. -Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? No. -Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No. -Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? The screen was flashing "BRAKE" while I had the gas pedal pressed to the floor (after realizing the car wasn't responding) with no response from the car for probably 3 seconds while traveling less than 10 mph. I had no way of knowing the accelerator pedal would become unresponsive after pulling out into traffic. -My theory is that a pedestrian on the right sidewalk potentially made the (camera?) system think I was going to hit them but the person was not in or even that close to the road and my car wasnt pointed at them at any point. -This happened awhile ago (unsure of exact date) but couldn't help but think of how bad it could have been there was less of a gap or other drivers were unable to change lanes and it still makes me uneasy pulling out into fast paced traffic unknowing if the car will have this happen again potentially causing a serious accident.

When starting my car, it struggles to start and then the emissions system light stays on, warning of engine power being affected. The car sputters when driving. The lane departure light stays on, as well as the braking system light, which warns of potential problems with braking. My safety is at risk when trying to accelerate and sputtering instead. Since the problem started today, December 22, I can’t go to the dealer until after Christmas. No one else has inspected the vehicle yet. There were no other warnings, however steering did feel strange, starting a couple of days ago.

When traveling on the highway, the cruise control system will cut out on random intervals, and not be available to turn back on unless you stop the vehicle, turn it off, and then turn it back on again. This poses an electrical system risk, and may encourage drivers to pull over on the side of the highway to restart their vehicle to regain access to cruise control. There are already many Reddit and online forums about this issue I have linked below. There is also a service bulletin issued out for this issue, so Honda is aware that vehicles are affected, but this doesn’t actually fix the issue, since my car has already been in for service regarding this issue. Steering wheel sticks while driving requiring additional pressure to manipulate the wheel. It was checked at the dealership but was not replicated. This vehicle is two years old, has 70,000 miles on it now. It’s worth noting that this issue started when it had 15,000 mile on it several years ago. I took it to the dealer, but they told me they wouldn’t do anything about it since the light no longer indicated an issue. Randomly, the vehicle will suddenly say “collision mitigation system problem, see dealer” and “adaptive cruise control problem see dealer”. These two warnings always show up together, and always turn off lane keep assist and all cruise control options until the warning disappears. The warnings will pop up 5-6 times a year and sometimes last several days, sometimes only seconds. Dealer initially told me it may be due to water after it rains but now it’s happening even during dry weeks when we haven’t had rain in ages.

I owned 2 of these 2022 civics equipped with Honda's Collision mitigation braking technology. This is the year they removed the forward radar and relied only on a single camera unit. I was involved in a rear end collision where I was the rear ender even with the distance setting on the furthest setting. The accident was on the highway at about 40MPH. A vehicle Merging on to the highway stopped in front of me in my lane. I was using adaptive cruise control. I can tell you the responsive of this system had me worried from in several other situations I was in. Not only did the adaptive cruise fail detect and slow the vehicle based on the vehicle in front of me, the safety system did not make any attempt to slow the vehicle and no detection was made by the system until about .2 seconds (or about 6') prior to the actual impact. I investigated the safety systems logs with a Honda mechanic by connecting a device to the OBD2 port and downloading the logs to a computer to verify indeed it failed to properly detect any obstacle until it was far to late. This seems to be a concern other Honda drivers have expressed as well with this revision of their Collision mitigation braking system. I believe they market as if this and the adaptive cruise system are features you can rely on to keep you safe and while I understand it can not account for every situation this was a perfectly clear day in Arizona at about 5:30pm in moderate day light. I believe this system is dangerous and has serious flaws that do not properly detect vehicles in front of you in many situations is extremely slow to react in almost every situation. I attempted to upload these logs but you do not accept the file format they were exported in. If I can send these another way please let me know.
