The 2022 Honda Civic (Sport) with approx. 13,000 miles had been driving fine for the previous 10 minutes, on and off the highway, when I was almost home and on a more residential 25-30mph road. All of a sudden all of the warning lights went off on the dashboard at once, so I went to brake to slow down and pull over. But the brakes were completely failing - the pedal would just hit the back of the foot well. The emergency brake is electronic, so that wouldn't work either. I was lucky to be immediately next to a grocery store parking lot, so I roll into that. As soon as I make the turn flames began shooting out from under the hood, reaching maybe 6" up the windshield. This is only 5 or 6 seconds after the warning lights had started, and it was clear that the fire inside of the engine bay was substantial. I managed to coast to the back of the parking lot, away from other cars and people, and found a curb "island" that I could run into in order to stop the vehicle. I effectively crashed the car, and at this point the flames had increased. I ran out of the vehicle and shouted for people to call 911. Within a minute the entire front half of the car was engulfed in 10+ foot flames. The fire department showed up a minute later and put out the fire, and after only maybe 3 minutes maximum the only things left in the car were metal and wires. The dashboard was entirely gone, seats were just their metal frames, etc. If the door had been jammed I would have burned alive.

The steering wheel locking up during driving randomly without warning this cause me to crash into the sidewalk during my right turn damaging my right side lower bumper and front wheel cracked so I already replaced the wheel with a new refinished one. This issue is a non stop problem I would really appreciate if HONDA reconsider all trim not just Sport and Touring as my car is an EX-L model which I paid for Touring price so I want to be help too. I already took it to the dealership and they didn't fix it and just joy ride my car caught it on dash cam even the sound of the wheel locking up too. GOUDY HONDA ALHAMBRA inspected my car. This was an on going issue since I test drove the car and I call it out and the salemen told me its normal which I knew it isn't, but I waited 3 month for this pre-order car so I'm not going to not take it. Please help me fix this issue as its should be under warranty, but dealership state they won't do anything unless the issue is serious which I don't feel safe driving my new honda.

On Friday January 27th, I was driving approximately 65mph when the steering wheel got stuck to the right, causing me to run off the road. I hit a rut where the road meets the grass and it caused a couple of my wheel weights to fall off. Initially the lane keep was on, but I turned it off as it started pulling to the right. The car still proceeded to pull continuously until I cut it off, and then started to appear to work normally for a short period afterwards. The steering wheel already sticks in the center on most days. Now, there’s issues stopping, I’m guessing from the rut I hit. The dealer that I bought it from swears that there’s nothing wrong with the vehicle and that I’m just a difficult customer. I’ve already had it up to the dealership 5 times. There’s 88 other people already who agree with me. I have a case with American Honda Corporate, but they only agree with what the dealer tells them. This poses a major safety hazard, and it needs to be recalled before someone gets killed.

How to use these: a complaint is one owner’s report, filed voluntarily and published unverified. Patterns matter more than any single story. If several owners describe the same failure at similar mileage, put that system at the top of your pre-purchase inspection list. Back to the full 2022 Honda Civic Si verdict →
