This motorcycle has had a history of stalling while riding, this issue has persisted through two "repairs" that the dealership deemed safe. It stalled on the way back from retrieving the motorcycle from the supposed repair and put me in a life threatening scenario when the motorcycle stalled in traffic in front of a diesel in a construction zone without any available shoulders. The error that displays on the motorcycle is a yellow "Fault in engine" error that forces me hold in the clutch to turn off the motorcycle, go to first gear, turn the motorcycle back on start the engine then immediately give the motorcycle throttle. Doing so all while rolling to a stop in the middle of highway traffic. This has caused me to injure my leg due to the extremely fast nature of attempting to start a stalling motorcycle on a busy highway. This issue first appeared 2 years ago and it has persisted through all "repairs" from the dealership of the motorcycle brand specially.

Bike was serviced at Bmw Temecula and the dealer found a valve keep on magnet plug. Engine was “checked” to and all valve keepers were supposedly in place. So that means extra valve keeper was a manufacturer error. This could have locked up engine and killed me. Have asked for assistance from Bmw but have been shut down by them.

Took new bike to dealer. A “extra” valve keeper was found in oil. Dealer tore engine apart and found all valve keeps in place. If the extra part in engine woulda cause engine to fail at Highway speeds dead coulda happened. I’ve called bam corporate and the case manager has not called me back. I can’t get beyond “customer service”

How to use these: a complaint is one owner’s report, filed voluntarily and published unverified. Patterns matter more than any single story. If several owners describe the same failure at similar mileage, put that system at the top of your pre-purchase inspection list. Back to the full 2022 BMW S 1000 Rr Us verdict →
