The contact called 911, and the Fire truck arrived 10 minutes later; however, the fire had already started under the hood. The contact stated that the vehicle burned significantly from the front-end to the front seats. Additionally, mail inside the vehicle were burned. The fire was extinguished by the fire department. There was no injury sustained. A fire report was filed, and additionally, a Police report was filed. The vehicle was deemed totaled by the insurance company. The vehicle was towed to Copart's. Upon conducting a VIN search on the NHTSA.gov website, the contact became aware that the VIN was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V363000 (Steering). The dealer was notified of the failure and stated that the recall only applied to electric vehicles. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 59,000.

Unknown Our 2021 Jeep Wrangler caught fire in our garage destroying our home as well. The vehicle had been sitting for over 10 hours before suddenly catching fire. When I open the garage door, the engine compartment was completely engulfed in flame. I used four fire extinguishers that I had at my house and workshop trying to put out the fire. Then I had to wait for the fire department. When the fire department got there, they fought the flames and opened up the rest of the house because this fire has spread through the attic of the garage by that time. Then they also had a towing company come and pull the vehicle from the garage so that they could continue fighting the flames. We feel there had to be a manufactured defect to cause such a situation.

On Tuesday January 6 2026, I was driving my 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe. I noticed smoke coming out the engine. I pulled over to the side of the road to determine the problem. Upon exiting the vehicle, I saw flames coming from the undercarriage of the engine. The fire soon engulfed the vehicle. 911 was called. Police and Fire responded. The vehicle was destroyed in the fire. I have photos and videos of the fire and aftermath, taken once I exited the vehicle. I assume the fire is the result of the recent recall on the battery components of the Jeep Wrangler 4xe. The vehicle is currently in an impound lot and would be available for inspection upon request. I have notified Jeep and my insurance of the incident, but the jeep has not as of yet, been inspected by either entity. The fire was of great risk to myself. If I hadn't pulled over when I did who knows what might have occurred. In addition I had a full tank of gas so the vehicle could have exploded endangering other people, vehicles, and property. No warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem appeared prior to the failure. The vehicle had been operating as intended prior to smoke/fire. I have documentation of a service of the vehicle on Wednesday Dec 3, 2025 with Raidon's of Kirkland in which the performed recall services.

My husband and my body were shook pretty bad from the incident and could have been seriously injured due to the impact. On 7/13/25, my 2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited with approximately 50,000 miles on it spontaneously caught fire as I was driving down the highway. The fire appeared to start in the engine compartment and very quickly moved to the entire front end of the vehicle. I pulled over on the side of the road and managed to safely exit the vehicle without physical injury. In minutes, the entire vehicle was consumed in flames. The fire department arrived within 10 minutes. When I departed the scene of the incident, fire fighters were still spraying water on the vehicle. After leaving the scene, I went to the hospital for psychological injury related to the incident. The investigation into the fire is currently underway. I do not have additional information about the cause or specific location of the fire. The vehicle is currently at a tow yard and is a total loss. It is nearly unrecognizable aside from the frame and a few components in the far rear. I am in the process of documenting all upgrades and modifications. Since it was fully built for off-roading and overlanding, it is a long and challenging task to take inventory of every part. Approximately 3 months before the incident, the vehicle was towed to a local CDJR dealership for a factory recall, where the entire fuel system was replaced. There were no other issues with the vehicle.

Despite several recall campaigns and attempted repairs, the same power loss and electrical system problems have recurred. On [XXX], I was in Fort Lauderdale, FL for vacation with my 2 friends. I was driving for about 20-30 minutes on the road, got on the highway and noticed a rubber smell. I got off the highway. Then I saw white smoke coming from the vents and smoke coming from the right side of the hood, in front of the passenger side. I proceeded to pull over and parked the car. We exit the car & saw smoke/flames coming from the right passenger side & underneath the car. I called 911. There were no warnings or indications on my dashboard that something was wrong. I got my car serviced a month prior to this fire at a certified Jeep dealership. My car was deemed a total loss by my insurance. I was traveling on the [XXX] on Sunday [XXX] and while started smelling brakes and I got off at the service area and pressed on the brake pedal and the vehicle wouldn’t stop. I had no brake pedal and just heard a clicking sound. There were people everywhere and I didn’t want anyone to get hurt so I had no choice but to drive the vehicle towards a yellow pole which did stop the vehicle but I have been told after the car was towed to a shop that there is an error code B22A9 and believe it was caused by some ecu failure of some sort. The vehicle is in really bad shape and airbags also didn’t deploy. I would like this to be investigated as I would not feel safe in this vehicle if it’s repaired and returned to service. It is a 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe and I am aware of issues being reported with the battery but nothing for this problem except for other mentions on the internet on owners having similar problems intermittently. The jeep will be towed to Pohanka Jeep in Salisbury Md. There wasn’t any warning lights. I give permission for the vehicle to be inspected at anytime. I feel this vehicle is a danger to the public safety being it was just serviced and inspected by a Jeep dealership 2 weeks prior and the brakes suddenly fall and now there’s a code with something to do with an ecu or electronics having to do with the brakes failing. Could have been killed in the accident or seriously hurt if I hadn’t exited off the road and used the pole to stop the vehicle. I plugged in my charger to my Jeep 4xe and I heard a sizzling sound from the wall charger unit and outlet. I immediately disconnected the charger and cut the power to the unit from the breaker box. This was installed in 2021 by a professional electrician. I am grateful I was observant because this would have caused a fire. There was evidence of this starting in the outlet box (black residue). This was. a major near miss safety incident. Hired a professional electrician to repair the charger. July 2024 – driving over 40 mph the Rubicon on a busy two-lane highway with my [XXX] and lost all acceleration. Interior warning lights started flashing with the warning, “Service Electric Throttle Control.” As this was up hill, there I nearly started going backwards and two vehicles swerved around me as I was able to pull over. As cars honked that drove by, I turned the vehicle off which was at this point, making a rattling/wobbling noise. I turned the vehicle back on and off at least three times, with hybrid vehicle working. As I was two miles from home, I was able to get back with the vehicle dropping acceleration (with no horsepower and no ability to go on gas mode) twice until I rolled back in basically neutral. We called USAA to have the vehicle immediately towed to Jeep Rairdon in Kirkland, WA. Jeep Rairdon said they would do an inspection three days later where they will assess if we can get a loaner. While driving my vehicle in four-wheel-drive low, with no lockers engaged I noticed that the rear wheels at different times were dragging, I could also hear and feel the ABS module actuating. During these events I would have diminished breaking capabilities and no ABS warning lights. it was doing it under 5 miles an hour at first and then higher speeds. I got a service ABS, service traction control, service stability control, four-wheel-drive unavailable, service four-wheel-drive system Messages all of a sudden, and i disengaged the four-wheel-drive lover back to 2 Wheel Drive. At this point the brake pedal was hard and would not move, my back left wheel was completely locked. I shut the vehicle down waited a few minutes and restarted it, all of the lights were still active but I was able to move the vehicle. I began traveling forward and the rear wheels alternated locking up. I started backing up to move to a safe position, the brake pedal became hard and I was unable to stop causing my vehicle to collide with a wall, speed was below 5 miles an hour but still caused damage to my left rear quarter panel and fiberglass top. After we assessed the damage, I put the vehicle in 2 Wheel Dr., disconnected the battery for 30 minutes, and was able to drive the vehicle to a parking lot in 2 Wheel Dr. After this point and not having phone service, use a satellite communicator to call a local off-road recovery nonprofit that I volunteer for, they were able to assist in bringing a trailer out to tow my vehicle home as it is unsafe to drive and my children were with me. Unloading the vehicle off the trailer all the lights were gone with the exception of a check engine light is now on. The vehicle is currently sitting in my driveway and will be requesting a tow to the local dealership for them to troubleshoot .
