My 2021 Ford Edge has experienced ongoing transmission issues for an extended period including delayed engagement into Reverse, flashing gear indicator lights before Reverse engagement, harsh/jumpy shifting during acceleration and deceleration, and intermittent shuddering. The vehicle previously required a torque converter replacement performed by a Ford dealership, however the symptoms continued after the repair. Today, while driving on the highway, the vehicle experienced repeated loss of power and hesitation while attempting to accelerate and maintain speed. During one highway merge, the vehicle failed to respond normally while accelerating and I was nearly struck by a semi-truck because I could not safely match traffic speed. Shortly afterward, while exiting the highway, the vehicle suddenly jolted violently and began making loud grinding noises accompanied by severe shuddering. The transmission/drivetrain appeared to fail completely, making the vehicle unsafe to continue operating. I stopped driving immediately and had the vehicle towed to the same Ford dealership that previously replaced the torque converter. I am submitting this complaint because the transmission failure created a serious safety hazard involving loss of propulsion at highway speeds, unsafe merging conditions, and risk of collision.

Transmission has gone out with just over 100,000 and will cost $8,000+ to fix! Vehicle is binding/jerking when trying to drive. Online comments appear to indicate Ford is aware of an issue with this vehicle, seems it was not manufactured properly to begin with and consumers were taken advantage of and left in tough circumstances when it fails.

Purchase this vehicle at 30,000 miles have problems with it since day one with the ABS rear brake dragging I've done had two ABS control modules replaced the ABS control pump the torque converter because the brakes are tearing the torque converter out of it from all the strain. It does it intermittently. All of the repairs have been done through Ford they had to replace the when the brake rotors the calipers brake pads because of how hot the brake system is getting. The brakes will start dragging which will heat up the brake system and they will start putting herself in a bind. Four don't know what's causing it they said they think it could be an electrical issue that's causing the ABS control module to go hay wire and I wasn't getting any codes at all. Except once and it's in Walt's communication that aBS control module a. This problem is going to get myself or my family or your family killed on the roads

Ive been having problems with my 21 ford edge. I looked online to see what it could be. I came across a bulletin about reprogramming the pcm. My car was spudderinglosing power and I notice jerking and I was going through gas like crazy. So we called the Ford dealership make an appointment to have them reprogram the pcm. That did not work though. They suspect it to me the torque converter. I see that there are a lot of other ford owners that are having the same problems as I am. And from what I understand ford knew about this and still haven't done anything about it. I rely on this vehicle to get me back and forth to work 60 miles 4 days a wk. My children are in the car with me relying on me to get them places. Its not fair we have to pay for their mistakes. We want what's right and that is them to pay for their mistakes. Please

In Late October 2025 my 21 Edge started having issues at 35-40mph, seemed to be jerking while accelerating. No Dash/Check engine lights. I took the vehicle to the Dealer that I bought it from and I was told that it was the ERG Valve, we replaced that and it is still having the exact same issue. We took the vehicle to another Ford Dealer and they told us it is the Torque Converter and they want $5700.00 to fix it. The vehicle only has 70k miles on it. This is just past factory warranty and FORD is not willing to help with cost. The Part to fix this is only $300 and they are charging all of that in labor for a known and common issue with their vehicles. Now, I had just bought this car from the first Ford Dealership in April 2025 and I am already at this much of a loss.

The transmission failed while driving down the road. The vehicle jumped gears while traveling at approximately 30 miles per hour. My husband was luckily able to maneuver it to a safe location, but almost wrecked in the process of it jumping gears while we were accelerating with the flow of traffic. The problem has been confirmed by the Ford Dealer- the transmission failed and has grinded up clutch parts all in it. There were no prior warnings that anything was failing, but we did notice a shudder that day when we would accelerate to around 30-35 mph. Upon research afterwards, we learned that there is a TSB for that exact 8F35 transmission and that Ford refuses to recall the known problem in the 2019 - 2021 Ford Edge. I was so scared for the safety of my family with my 6 year old child in the back seat. A 4 year old vehicle should not need a new transmission. And Ford should not be putting people in danger for a known problem.

I bought the car in October of 2024 with 92,000 miles. Around 99,000 miles or so it started running kinda rough drove like it had less power and is shifting hard. It affected the drivability of the car. I took it to the ford dealership and they quoted me $5,200 for a torque converter. The car is out of warranty and I cannot afford to fix it and I still owe money on the car. If I knew this was going to be an issue I would not have bought the car. I currently have 107,000 miles on the car and the issue is only getting worse.

I'm am the original owner of my 2021 Edge ST and have kept up with all my scheduled maintenance. Earlier this year, I had my transmission fluid replaced per the 40k maintenance schedule. Since then (and even a little prior to) I can feel the transmission, for lack of a better term, "jutting" and making a very slight "whine" when I've decelerated but then gone to reapply acceleration. It mainly seems to be a problem with second gear. I have also had the fuel neck replaced twice now under warranty. The first time was shortly after purchasing the vehicle, it kept tripping the gas pump at every station and I would have to manually trickle the gas in. Then again a year or two ago it started tripping again and they replaced it. I've also had various rattling noises that start out of no where and persist. My moon roof even came from the factory missing pieces that had to get installed only a month after I had the vehicle. The roof is starting to rattle again this year. I have identified that by rolling the sun shade open and closed and finding with the shade opened and rolled up, the rattling stops.

I am filing this complaint regarding a serious transmission issue with my 2021 Ford Edge. The vehicle exhibits shuddering and hesitation during acceleration, which presents a potential safety hazard in daily driving conditions. I brought the issue to a Ford dealership, and they confirmed that the problem is either a defective transmission or a failing torque converter. Despite the vehicle being relatively new and not yet paid off, I have been told that repairs may not be covered under warranty, potentially leaving me with thousands of dollars in out-of-pocket costs. This issue is deeply concerning, not only because of the financial burden but also due to the apparent pattern of similar problems in previous model years of the Ford Edge, which leads me to believe that Ford may have been aware of this design or manufacturing defect and failed to resolve it in newer models. A transmission failure or torque converter malfunction at speed could result in a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash or injury. Given the number of similar reports online and in consumer forums, I urge the NHTSA to investigate this issue thoroughly and determine whether a recall or broader corrective action is warranted. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

While driving under multiple circumstances, while rolling from a stop or in gear already, the transmission will unsafely move on its own power. It will stutter if I hit the gas. It will not go sometimes and other times it will be so delayed that after I left my foot off the gas, the transmission will then go.

Car passed 100,000 and at 104,000 I got a "Service Car Soon" warning with a wrench. About a mile later, the RPMs started revving hard (at 6) so I slowed to 60 mph getting it to 4 RPMs. I drove maybe 100-150 more miles when it died at the Denver Int'l Airport. After hauling it back to Oklahoma, the Kissee Ford dealer in Claremore said that the transmission was blown.
