The entire instrument cluster failed on my 2020 Jeep Wrangler and had to be completely replaced at the dealer. One day, when starting the vehicle, the entire cluster was off with no advanced warnings, no speedometer, no fuel gauge, no warning lights, no odometer, and no information display of any kind. The vehicle would still operate, but all gauges and dashboard functions were non-functional. To make matters worse, this occurred as we were leaving the hospital with our [XXX] child during a snowstorm. Our child had just been admitted for three days to the PICU for RSV-related issues. The safety of our infant was directly put at risk due to the complete loss of all dashboard and warning information while driving in hazardous conditions. We took the vehicle to the Plainfield, Indiana Jeep dealership and were informed that the entire instrument cluster needed to be replaced. We were charged $1,526 for this repair. Now, approximately one year later, the replacement instrument cluster is exhibiting similar issues. While driving, the cluster will randomly flicker or blink, indicating the underlying electrical or instrument-panel defect was not fully resolved. During these events, visibility of speed, warnings, and vehicle status is temporarily lost. This remains an ongoing safety concern. Given that NHTSA has opened an investigation into Jeep instrument-cluster failures, I believe this issue represents a systemic defect rather than an isolated incident and warrants further review. My dash with my dash lights, speed, warning lights, odometer, gas tank and oil temp went out in my jeep. It flicked off with red lines. Come on randomly but stays off. Took to jeep told me it was the jeep instrument cluster. No recalls on my specific jeep but [XXX] shows there is a recall of this part. Driver side dashboard experienced an instrument cluster failure causing the center dashboard information to go completely blank so that the mileage, amount of gas, speed, warning lights, etc. are all no longer visible. There appears to have been a recall for a similar issue for Jeep Wrangler years 2018-2024 but I have been told my VIN is not part of that recall even though it appears to be the same cluster failure issue.

The digital instrument cluster (Electronic Vehicle Information Center – EVIC) on my 2020 Jeep Wrangler has failed, and no longer displays critical vehicle information. This includes fuel level, engine and oil temperature, mileage, tire pressure, and other key dashboard data. This failure creates an unsafe driving condition due to the inability to monitor vehicle speed, engine status, or fuel availability. I brought the vehicle to the dealer, and they confirmed the cluster is nonfunctional, but also stated that my VIN is not covered under the existing recall. After extensive research, I discovered hundreds of reports from other Wrangler owners experiencing the same failure in 2018–2021 models, yet Jeep has only issued limited recall coverage, seemingly based on build date rather than known defective components. To make matters worse, no replacement parts are available, either through the dealership or third-party suppliers. I am now left without a fully functioning vehicle and no support or resolution from Jeep or its dealers. This is a widespread and well-documented issue that affects driver safety and should be subject to expanded recall or mandated remedy. I urge NHTSA to investigate why so many similar failures are not covered under existing recalls.

Digital display that shows speed and fuel level stops working and goes black while driving. Happened in 2024 and the display was replaced at my cost. New display experienced the same blackout in January 2025. Manufacturer is unable to deliver a new replacement display to their dealership to fix the vehicle. It has been almost 5 months without any resolution in sight. Other owners who have used my carwash have mentioned similar experience

The instrument panel cluster in the 2020 Wrangler Sahara seems to have failed. As such, the driver cannot read the gas gauge, tire air pressure, and other vital metrics. There is a recall on this issue (30B), however my VIN is not included. I would kindly ask to see if my VIN should be included. The Wrangler has approximately 57,000 miles. This problem has been diagnosed by Capitol Garage in Willimantic, CT, Gary Bennett (Service Advisor). 860-786-4759 Jeep Customer Care Case # [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

In September of this year, I would get a random code thrown by the computer, usually telling me that the sway bar disconnected required service, but sometimes it was also the 4wd system. These codes would reset themselves within a few minutes, but I still took it to a dealership for a checkup. The dealership told me that since it currently was not throwing any codes there wasn't really anything they could do. The problem continued to worsen over the next few months. The codes thrown become more varied. I took the vehicle to the dealership two more times and again, no solution was found. Sometimes in the morning when I would go to start the vehicle, it would start, but would not allow the shifter to move, saying that service was required. I took it to the dealerhip again, and no solution could be found. Then the worse started happening. The computer would start throwing several codes at the same time, and then enter a reboot cycle, as I was driving down the freeway. During the reboot cycle, power to the accelerator and power steering would flap on and off, and my ability to steer the vehicle would alternate between powered and unpowered within seconds, leading to a very dangerous situation. The accelerator was the same, disabling my ability to respond to the conditions on the road. I escalated to Jeep's corporate system and left my Jeep at the dealership for two weeks. They were eventually able to identify the CAN BUS as the problem and replace it. I was informed that this was a common problem in Jeep Chrysler vehicles. SInce the replacement of the CAN BUS, I have not experienced any further incidents.

The vehicle begins to shake violently after hitting a sudden bump in the road causing the vehicle to become uncontrollable. This happens at speeds in excess of 40mph. We asked both the dealer and jeep to look at the issue and they said it was not covered by the warranty and there were no warning light indicators.

When you try to accelerate on to highway or try to accelerate to change lanes the engine losses power or the power shuts down. Trying to pass and losing power I had to return to my previous lane and forced several vehicles to slam on their brakes in my previous lane so I could return. Loosing power trying to enter the passing lane forced the vehicle to slam on their brakes that I had just merged into. On another 2 other occasions vehicle looses power when trying to merge onto freeway. First occasion I was able to pull off to shoulder to avoid flowing traffic. Second incident there was no shoulder when merging onto freeway. Semi truck changed lanes to avoid my vehicle because I could not accelerate to speed. These incidents seem to happen with altitude and freeway driving speeds. There are no engine codes showing. This recent incident happened in the Shasta pass area.

Driving on the interstate with cruise control set at 79 mph (dash has digital indicator of cruise control speed, as well) and the vehicle kept accelerating upwards of 90 mph without touching the buttons or gas. Then speed would drop/deceleration would occur intermittently going down as much as 9 mph before I stopped cruise control. I had to pull the vehicle off the interstate, turn it off and back on to enable cruise control to safely function again.
