What 97 owners told NHTSA about the 2020 GMC Acadia Limited

I believe my car should be included in this recall. I've had the dealer check and they say it's nothing wrong with my car. 2020 GMC Acadia Fuel Pump Recall GMC has announced that 2781 vehicles have been affected by a Fuel Pump recall. General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2020 Buick Enclave, Cadillac XT5, Cadillac XT6, Chevrolet Traverse, and GMC Acadia vehicles. The fuel pump's jet nozzle may have a plastic burr remaining from the manufacturing process, possibly causing a blocked nozzle and an insufficient fuel supply to the engine. Insufficient fuel supply can result in an engine stall without warning, increasing the risk of a crash. 2020 GMC Acadia Recall Fuel Pump GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuel pump module. The recall began November 16, 2020. Owners may contact GMC customer service at 1-888-988-7267, Buick Customer service at 1-866-608-8080, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 or Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006. The fuel gauge failed to move. The thermostat was stuck open. The electric steering was not working properly. The engine light was illuminated. The traction control was turned off. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V639000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The contact stated that he was a master mechanic. The contact called the local dealer, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. Vehicle will shutter or buck at variable speeds like, 35-38 mph, 40-45 mph and so on. if I take my foot of the gas and reapply it will shutter buck again at almost any speed. I took it to a mechanic and there are no codes, no check engine light. Shop recommended changing the transmission fluid so we did. Car still responds the same way, shutters and bucks when reapplying fuel pedal or slow acceleration.

The vehicle failed to restart, and the driver was unable to pull over to the side of the road. The vehicle was towed to an unknown dealer, but was not diagnosed because the contact declined to pay the diagnostic test cost. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer where it was purchased, and the fuel pump module was replaced; however, the failure recurred 2-3 months later. The contact stated that the vehicle had failed to start. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 104,000.

The vehicle stalls when air start kicks on so when stopped auto stop kick on and when your ready to go the go stalls to turn back on. I have also lost power to the car randomly. Power train issue on car keeps coming on with engine light. I have taken to dealer when car was under warranty and they were very dismissive to my issue. They changed some sensor under warranty And they said the issue was fixed. But the issue remains and it’s causing several issues to the car with Also a fueling code to the engine light

Once again (for the second time in a few months) the vehicle put me and my passenger in an extremely dangerous situation. We were driving down a 55mph country highway catching speed, somewhere around 45-50 mph and the car jerked so violently that it shook us even though we had our seat belts on. It then made a weird noise and felt like it was powering down so I stepped on the accelerator to try to bring it back up to speed and it sped up a little bit, jerked again (not as violently) and turned off. Luckily, since it was a country hwy and no cars were coming, I was able to coast into a driveway. I attempted to restart the car to turn around and go home but as soon as i put it in gear, it would shut off. I tried a few times and it would make a "tick tick, tick" sound but not start. I waited a few minutes and tried again and was able to get it to start, go in reverse and get back home. Once I got home it would not start again. Mechanic says it is the same issue and before, which was also part of a recall for this vehicle having to do with the fuel pump relay. I will be trying to tow this vehicle to the dealership for repair.

The car would not start. It would power on but would not turn over. We had it checked out by a mechanic who tested it and found that the fuel pump module was not operable. When he went to replace it, he found that the one he was removing was aftermarket so this issue had happened before, apparently, before we bought it. We bought it with only 24k miles so it needing to be replaced that early is concerning. And now at around 50k it had to be replaced again. Researching this issue, I have found many folks reporting similar situations. This needs to be investigated.

I noticed for months it was downshifting hard but transmission department was backed up I scheduled in September for an appointment October 26 and that morning I received a call to reschedule because they were still behind and had another appointment for November 10th. The morning of the incident 1st it did not want to start it would only turn over. When it started the check engine light was on (I called service he asked if I could drive it and told me to bring it in). Within 10 miles of driving, the car started to slow down. When I pressed the gas the RPMs would go up but the car would not accelerate. I was on the interstate so I started to coast to the side. When I got to the other side of the rumble tracks the fuel gauge warning came on saying no fuel (even though I had half a tank which was verified through the service department) and the car came to an abrupt stop. Had I not gotten over when I did the car would have stopped on the highway. I tried to turn it on to move it farther off the road and it would not. It started to just turned over like it did when I originally tried that morning (all over the occurrences happened while I was on the phone with Adrienne who i contacted through the gm help line).

OWNED CAR FOR ALMOST 3 WEEKS CANT BELIEVE THERE WAS NO INDICATION FUEL WAS APPARENTLY THAT LOW. 60 MILES TO EMPTY SHOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO FINISH THE 2 MILES I HAD ON MY DRIVE TO WORK AND TO GET GAS.
