.After activating the cruise control on the freeway for a few minutes, the cruise control deactivated and displayed the "Adaptive Cruise Not Available" message on the dashboard, immediately lowering the speed. Additionally, the sunroof interior stopped working after opening it. The bar that helps retract the sunroof interior came loose, and Ford says the repair is not covered under the extended warranty. There was also a problem with the rear seat belts, which displayed a warning: "REAR BELT MONITOR FAULT. SERVICE REQUIRED."

My Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Warning, Pre Collision warning all quit working and just flash across the screen, my light indicators for blind spot on my side mirrors quit working, my back up camera just has a bluescreen, there is no audio so no alerts can be heard and my sync doesnt work it has the screen but wont let you hear anything so yes I drive a bit away to work not having these features has been a major safety concern I have almost backed into someone because they were in my blind spot and no warning lights or warning sounds I have perviously went to a dealership for four active recalls they only look at the powertrain one there was one about spot welds nothing was done about either they broke like within the first few months of me having the car I have never received anything on extending my warrenty partly because I moved I guess but they basically told me when I was there for the recalls I would have to come back and pay for them to look at the rest which I said I wasn't aware that I had to pay for something that was a safety concern so then I contacted the place where I purchased the car that was 2 weeks ago they still have not contacted me back after several attempt and no response I then got on chat with Ford gave them a list of what was going on and they have yet to respond either but it was read just being ignored at this point and I'm at the end of my patience these are major safety issues I haven't even had this car a maybe a year if that and no one care to help I was told there was nothing wrong with anything basically I would have to wait for something to happen when I went for the recalls

Shortly after having new tires installed at the dealership the following warnings displayed: AWD Fault Service Required, Hill Start Assist, Pre-Collision and Traccontrol. Mileage was around 10,700, June 2025. Dealer unable to look at until July 2025. Advised that the RDU motor needed replacement. Replacement was completed 7/23/25. The vehicle was 5 months past the Powertrain warranty. So out of pocket was over $1,900. Given the low mileage on the vehicle it seems that this should not have happened. Research here and other websites indicate this is a known issue. The dealer indicated the same.

The contact owns a 2020 Ford Escape. The contact stated while driving 25-30 MPH with the Adaptive Cruise Control activated, the automatic emergency braking system failed to engage while another vehicle had pulled in front of the vehicle from the passenger's side of the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure only occurred while another vehicle was pulling in front of the vehicle from the passenger's side of the vehicle, but the vehicle responded as needed while another vehicle was pulling in front of the vehicle from the driver's side of the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure started occurring after an unknown software update was performed on the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the failure could not be duplicated because the dealer declined to test-drive the vehicle by driving 25-30 MPH on the road. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the dealer for assistance. Additionally, the manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 43,000.

4WD module was failing. It affected hill braking, AWD and collision alert and other components. These messages popped up on my driver screen repeatedly. Safety was compromised in winter driving in snow with no AWD. Also, safety impaired with no collision assist available and all the other safety features related to the module . I took it in for repair eventually and dealer confirmed error(s) and replaced the AWD module. I got error messages for at least 2 months before I took it in. The car had less than 30000 miles and was only 4 years old when this started. It was repaired in December 2024.

the front camera/ adaptive cruise control, pre collision assist, seems to have spontanteoulsy cut out while driving- a large bump in the road seems to have shook less the coaxial cable connections for the front camera in this car. This caused a fast and immediate deceleration that almost got me rear ended by the truck that was behind me. the car is at the dealership for a faulty cable/ IPMA module. this seems to be a very common issue for these cars. there were no messages PRIOR to the failure but the messages i am getting now are the front camera fault, and pre collision assist is no longer working. Adaptive cruise and even regular cruise control are no longer working either. additionally, i am getting a system off to save battery message, even though i just installed a new battery. This faulty camera/ connection to the camera seems to be creating a parasitic draw. This car is not even 5 years old and only has 40,000 miles. Cruise control and pre collsion are massive safety features that are no longer functioning.

I was driving to work like normal this morning when an error message popped up that stated my All Wheel Drive had been turned off. It then gave another error message stating my hill parking assist had been turned off, and my cruise control is no longer functioning. Due to this I feel unsafe driving. This has happened to many other friends and family members that have owned this vehicle.

First Ford had issues a Customer Satisfaction Program 21B19 was issued to all Ford dealers on April 9, 2021. Then they put out a TSB 23-2061 which my vehicle is part of but says it is not covered under warranty. There are MANY 2020 FORD ESCAPES with this issue. Seems to be just gas vehicles 1.5 and 2.0l engines. My vehicle was not covered along with many other vehicles. Then they even put out a The contact stated while operating the vehicle, the messages "Hill Start Assist Not Available", "Pre-Collision Assist Not Available", "Service Advance-trac" and "Service All Wheel Drive" remained displayed. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the All-Wheel Drive module was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired.

I had warning lights flashing on my dashboard continuously "parking assist off" "AWD off" "Collison Assist Off" I could not change my car over to snow, ice, or deep snow it all showed not available. This happened 3 or 4 days before I took it back to the dealership. I researched online and found out there were a lot of complaints about the 2020 Ford Escape 2.0 Titanium which is what my car is. I also seen where people were talking about a class action lawsuit due to the low miles on their cars and this happening. My car only has 31,000 miles. I took my car to the shop I had an appointment and they told me the ADM Module was bad. This is the same thing everyone online complained about. This is costing me $1100.00 to replace. I did not have any AWD traction this was useless. I read that someone said the recall should be expanded. Which tells me there was a recall at one point for this problem.

My wife and I bought our 2020 Ford Escape new from a dealer in 2020. We are the first owners of this vehicle. In the time that we have had it, we have experienced the following issues: 1- the forward camera module that provides collision prevention, lane assist, adaptive cruise control, etc has failed. The dealer claims that the unit “overheated”. The module is no longer covered under warranty due to mileage. The result is that our vehicle no longer has the safety features that we paid extra for upon initial purchase. 2- the evaporative canister purge valve failed, causing difficult starts after refueling. This was not covered under warranty, due to mileage. 3- the driver door hinge check arm welds have all broken loose and no longer hold the door when opening, and the loose arm is now preventing the door from closing properly and, when closed, causing the drivers window to not roll down fully. This is not covered under warranty because of mileage AND (while it is a manufacturing defect), it has not been subjected to any recalls, so the dealership will not repair/replace it.

I have a 2020 Ford Escape and the wrench light came on and I received messages on the dash that said (faulty AWD, faulty hill assist, and faulty collision detection. I took it to Kayser Ford in Madison Wisconsin on January 15,2025 and they replaced the AWD module at a cost of $996. By doing some research, I know find out that there appears to have been a recall on 2020 Ford Escapes for this problem. Kayser Ford says there is no recall and I am questioning this. Thank you.

The awd module is faulty. It's causing thr collision assistance, the lane assistance, the awd and a few other things to not work or throw a faulty warning. I've been doing some digging and it seems to be a very common thing. The ford escape titanium is already in recall I believed

I'm getting warnings all of a sudden that the Pre Collision Assist, Advance Trac and AWD are either not available or have a fault and need service. There were some other warnings which I don't recall as when driving I wanted to keep my eyes on the road as much as possible. Right now, it is not showing those. I have lost all safety features like backup sensors, forward sensors, lane wandering and blind spot warning. I have lost convenience features such as cruise control and parking assist. Mileage is 29,726.

Got an Advanced Trac warning on my dashboard. Lost my AWD traction control forward collision assist. Took it to my service station. They did a diagnostic testing and told me it could be a power train problem and may be covered under warranty and recommended that I take it to the Ford dealership because this appears to be a common problem with Ford Escapes. They also told me that my shocks are starting to leak which is also a common problem with Ford Escapes. Took my car to the Ford dealership along with the receipt from my service station and they also did a diagnostic there. Told me the problem was my AWD module and that it wasn’t under warranty and would cost $800.00 plus to repair. I sent them multiple complaints from the NHTSA with the same problem . Told them to do the repair because I felt unsafe driving my car. Asked who I could complain to because this is a recurring problem and they directed me to Ford customer service . They were no help at all and were unable to direct me to anyone else for help. Told me to file a complaint with the NHTSA. I am filing this complaint because I am wondering how many people have to pay out of pocket for problems that appear to be a Ford product problem before they either voluntarily acknowledge the problem or are forced to do a recall. I have not had the shocks replaced yet because that will be another $600.00 plus bill. I have lost all confidence in my car and Ford. I am retiring soon and this car would be paid off by then but now I may have to get rid of this car and buy another one and have a car payment in retirement. Extremely unhappy with Ford and will never buy another Ford. This is unfair to anyone who buys a product and experiences common problems that the manufacturer chooses to not recognize and fix! Ford needs to step up and acknowledge the problems and pay for the repair!

How to use these: a complaint is one owner’s report, filed voluntarily and published unverified. Patterns matter more than any single story. If several owners describe the same failure at similar mileage, put that system at the top of your pre-purchase inspection list. Back to the full 2020 Ford Escape Gas verdict →
