The contact owns a 2020 BMW X4. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the "Restrain System Fault" message was displayed. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the driver's side seat belt. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V164000 (Seat Belt, Air Bags) but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 42,000.
