I JUST BOUGHT A BRAND NEW 2019 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA SE ONE WEEK AGO FROM OURISMAN VOLKSWAGEN OF LAUREL IN LAUREL, MARYLAND. I HAVE NOTICED A GRINDING/SCRATCHING NOISE COMING FROM THE CAR WHEN DRIVING AT CERTAIN SPEEDS, REGARDLESS OF HOW EASY OR HARD I GO ON THE ACCELERATOR. THIS HAPPENS ON FREEWAYS AND SMALL ROADS. I STARTED NOTICING THESE ISSUES EVEN WHEN THE CAR HAD UNDER 100 MILES ON IT, AND I STILL ONLY HAVE AROUND 500 MILES ON IT RIGHT NOW. I WILL BE TAKING THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AT THE END OF MY WORK WEEK WHEN I HAVE TIME. HOWEVER, FROM WHAT I'VE READ, VW IS REFUSING MANY PEOPLE WITH THE SAME ISSUE HELP AND DOESN'T EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE THAT IT IS A PROBLEM TO THEM, CLAIMING THAT THE NOISE IS "NORMAL." HOWEVER, THERE ARE DOCUMENTS THAT PROVE VOLKSWAGEN IS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE AND SHOW THEM ACKNOWLEDGING THAT IT ISN'T NORMAL. IT IS VERY UNACCEPTABLE THAT THEY ARE SELLING BRAND NEW CARS TO CONSUMERS WITH THESE VITAL ISSUES THAT THEY ARE REFUSING TO ADDRESS. THIS IS FRAUDULENT ACTIVITY AND HAS TO BE INVESTIGATED FOR THE SAFETY OF DRIVERS. I AM STILL BAFFLED THAT THERE HAVE BEEN ENDLESS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS YET THE NHTSA HASN'T DONE ANYTHING YET.

WHILE ACCELERATING, A DISTINCT GRINDING NOISE COMES FROM THE TRANSMISSION. THE NOISE IS CONSISTENTLY HEARD WHILE THE VEHICLE IS ACCELERATING BETWEEN 25-30 MPH. MY VEHICLE HAS 8K MILES, SO THIS NOISE IS VERY CONCERNING. THIS SHOULDN'T BE HAPPENING IN A NEW CAR WITH SUCH LOW MILES! VW KNOWS ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND IS DOING NOTHING - MEANWHILE THE CAR IS BEING IMPACTED EVERY TIME IT IS DRIVEN - AND IT'S MAKING THE PROBLEM WORSEN. PLEASE START AN INVESTIGATION INTO THIS -- IT'S NOT RIGHT AS CONSUMERS, OUR WELL-BEING AND SAFETY ARE BEING TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF AND YOU ARE GETTING MORE COMPLAINTS EVERY DAY ON THIS ISSUE. ON MY MANUAL TRANSMISSION GLI, THE ENGINE STALLS INTERMITTENTLY. IT HAS HAPPENED AT A COMPLETE STOP, AT WALKING SPEED, AND ONCE AROUND 10MPH. IT HAS HAPPENED WITH THE CLUTCH PEDAL COMPLETELY DEPRESSED WITH THE SHIFTER IN NEUTRAL OR IN GEAR, AND HAS ALSO HAPPENED WHILE IDLING IN NEUTRAL WITH FOOT COMPLETELY OFF THE CLUTCH. IT IS NOT A HARD STALL LIKE LEARNING TO DRIVE STICK. IT JUST STRUGGLES AND SOFTLY DIES OUT. I HAVE ALSO NOTICED THAT THE GEAR INDICATOR WILL TEND TO DISPLAY THE WRONG GEAR, PARTICULARLY WHEN DOWNSHIFTING. I'VE ALSO NOTICED THAT THE ENGINE RPMS ARE SOMETIMES AFFECTED SIMPLY BY PUSHING IN AND LETTING OUT THE CLUTCH. I FIRST NOTICED THIS PARKED IN MY LEVEL CARPORT. WITH THE CAR IN NEUTRAL, PUSHING IN AND LETTING THE CLUTCH OUT WILL RESULT IN A BRIEF SLIGHT RPM SPIKE. ON OTHER OCCASIONS IT IS COMPLETELY ABSENT LIKE NORMAL OPERATION. I CLASSIFIED THIS AS POWER TRAIN, BUT IT COULD BE ENGINE, TRANSMISSION, COMPUTER MANAGEMENT, ETC.

I TRIED OPENING AN INVESTIGATION ON THIS AND GOT BACK A WEIRD AND DISAPPOINTING RESPONSE FROM THIS DEPARTMENT. AS A TAX PAYER, I THINK IT'S YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO HOLD VW ACCOUNTABLE FOR FRAUD AND MAKE THEM FIX THIS MESS BEFORE SOMEONE GET SERIOUSLY INJURED! WE PURCHASED THIS CAR FROM STEVE WHITE VW IN GREENVILLE, SC AND THEY ARE COMMITTING FRAUD WITH VW TO HIDE THIS FROM CONSUMERS BY SAYING SCRAPING TRANSMISSIONS ON BRAND NEW CARS ARE NORMAL. THE DOCUMENT FROM OCTOBER 26TH ON MANUFACTURER COMMUNICATIONS IS PROOF THEY ARE PLAYING GAMES AND THIS NEEDS TO BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY! WHEN DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS, ESPECIALLY FROM A STOP, THERE IS A SLIGHT GRINDING NOISE THAT SOUNDS LIKE IT COMES FROM THE DRIVETRAIN. IT ONLY HAPPENS BETWEEN ANYWHERE FROM 25-40 MPH AND IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW HARD OR EASY ACCELERATION IS HAPPENING. I TRIED TAKING IT OUT OF ECO MODE TO SEE IF THAT WAS IT, BUT IT WAS NOT. I'VE TAKEN MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP TWICE EXPLAINING THE ISSUE. THE FIRST TIME I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS NORMAL, BUT NOT REALLY TOLD WHAT IT WAS THAT WAS CONSIDERED NORMAL. THE SECOND TIME I HAD A TECHNICIAN RIDE WITH ME AND HE TOLD ME THAT IT WAS THE ABS SYSTEM KICKING ON. I'VE NOTICED DRIVING IT MORE NOW THAT IT DEFINITELY SOUNDS LIKE IT'S COMING FROM THE POWER TRAIN.THE CAR IS A LITTLE OVER A MONTH OLD AND WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW.

INITIALLY THE ISSUE WAS WHEN TURNING FROM A LIGHT, THE CAR WOULD GET STUCK IN A LOW GEAR AND REV REAL HIGH, UNTIL IT STRAIGHTENED OUT A LITTLE, THEN IT WOULD SWITCH. THE LAST ISSUE, FROM A STOPLIGHT, THE CAR GOT STUCK IN A LOW GEAR AND I COULDN'T GO PAST 20 MPH UNLESS I WANTED TO BLOW THE ENGINE. I STOPPED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, WAITED ABOUT 15 MINS AND SLOWLY TESTED IF THE GEARS WOULD SHIFT AND IT DID. DROVE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY JUST SIMPLY REFILLED THE FLUID AND STATED TO PICK IT UP THE NEXT DAY. THIS CAR'S TRANNY FLUID WAS REFILLED TWICE IN THE LAST TWO MONTHS. NO PARTS CHANGED AT ALL, BUT THEY SAY IT'S FIXED. MUST BE MAGICAL TRANNY FLUID THEY PUT IN THIS TIME. SO NOW I WAIT FOR THE CAR TO BREAKDOWN AGAIN AND HOPE THAT I DON'T GET CAUGHT IN A POSITION WHERE I NEED TO ACCELERATE AND IT GETS STUCK IN A LOW GEAR. AND TO TOP IT OFF, I GOT THIS VEHICLE BECAUSE I THOUGHT A NEW CAR WOULD BE DEPENDABLE... I DRIVE SICKLY ELDERLY CLIENTS TO THEIR APPOINTMENTS, AND THERE IS NO WAY THEY CAN ENDURE A BREAKDOWN OF THE CAR AND WAIT ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD.

THIS DEFECTIVE CONVERTER IS ON HUNDREDS OR EVEN THOUSANDS OF JETTA AND EVERYONE IS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. IT'S DANGEROUS AND A SAFETY ISSUE.AND DAMAGING THE TRANSMISSION

THERE'S ALSO A SUBSTANTIAL LOSS OF POWER WHEN THE CAR SHIFTS FROM 2ND TO 3RD. THE CAR APPEARS IT DROPS ALMOST 800RPM AND IS SO SLOW TO ACCELERATE. WHEN IT'S SHIFTING 2-3, YOU'RE STILL IN A CRITICAL STATE OF ACCELERATION AND WHEN TRYING TO TURN ONTO A HIGHWAY WITH 55MPH SPEED LIMIT AND YOU HAVE A CAR THAT LOSES POWER TO THE WHEELS IS UNSAFE.

SOUNDS OF GRINDING DEPENDS WHAT DRIVE MODE YOUR ARE IN. ECO HAS THE LOUDEST NOISE. MANY OTHER REPORTS SUSPECT TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. VEHICLE WHILE STATIONARY HAS A STRANGE NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT LEFT ENGINE AREA THAT SOUNDS LIKE A ROTATION HUMMING GRIND NOISE, USUALLY OCCURS AFTER VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AND THEN STOPPING AT A RED LIGHT. VEHICLE WHILE IN MOTION BLIND SPOT MONITOR ON DRIVER SIDE MIRROR LIGHTS UP DURING BAD WEATHER EVEN WHEN NO VEHICLE IS PRESENT IN BLIND SPOT. ALSO, CAN HAPPEN WHEN THERE IS NO BAD WEATHER. VEHICLE WHILE IN REVERSE DURING RAIN IF EQUIPED WITH DRIVE ASSIST WILL AUTOMATICALLY BREAK STOP FOR YOU WHILE NO VEHICLE IS PRESENT. WINSHEILD WIPER BLADES LEAVE STREAKING MARKS INTO WINDSHIELD THAT DOESNT GO AWAY. PAINT ALSO EASILY CHIPS WHEN PEBBLES FROM HIGHWAYS HITS THE HOOD OF THE CAR. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO VW NORTH HILLS 1COCHRAN PITTSBURGH PA THEY STATED THEY DO NOT KNOW ABOUT THE GRINDING NOISE, AND IT WAS MOST LIKELY THE TURBO CHARGE ENGINE. THEY ALSO INVESTIGATED THE BLIND SPOT MONITOR STATING SENSOR IS DIRTY JUST NEEDS CLEANED. THAT'S ALSO FALSE BECUASE AFTER VW NORTH HILLS 1COCHRAN CLEANED IT ON A CLEAR SUNNY DAY AS I LEFT THE DEALERSHIP THE BLIND SPOT MONITOR CAME ON INTERMITTENTLY. THIS VEHICLE AT TIME OF REPORT HAS 23000 MILES ON IT HAS IT DRIVES A LOT OF HIGHWAY. RISK OF VEHICLE ACCIDENT WHILE ACCELERATING USUALLY BETWEEN 30-80MPH WITH KNOWN ISSUES ARE HIGH. PLEASE INVESTIGATE.

DEALER ACKNOWLEDGE SOUND HOWEVER THEY ARE UNABLE TO COVER TRANSMISSION NOISE BECAUSE VW USA ISSUED "TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN / TECH TIP" ON 04.18.19 (TRANSACTION NO. 205788/4) RECOMMENDING "NO FURTHER REPAIRS". NOW CUSTOMERS ARE LEFT TO DEAL WITH ABNORMAL TRANSMISSION SOUNDS WHEN DRIVING AND UNABLE TO FIX THEM UNDER WARRANTY. KEEPING IN MIND THAT I PURCHASE THIS VEHICLE BECAUSE OF THE 7 YEAR / 72K MILES WARRANTY. I CAN HONESTLY SHARE WITH YOU THAT THIS HAS BEEN THE WORSE PURCHASE I'VE MADE.

AS IF A DRIVER ATTEMPTS TO SHIFT WHILE THE CLUTCH IS NOT ENGAGED, THE CAR PRODUCES A GRINDING NOISE (BUT THIS CARE IS AN AUTOMATIC). SO I DECIDED TO TAKE IT INTO VW TO BE LOOKED AT (YOUNG VW). THEY SAID AND I QUOTE "NOISE IS NORMAL OPERATION OF THE DRIVE SYSTEM WHEN ACCELERATING." THAT JUST DOESN'T SEEM RIGHT TO ME.. MY HUSBAND HAS A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF AUTOMOTIVE KNOWLEDGE AND HAS MADE AN ASSERTIONS THAT THE ISSUES IS RELATED TO THE THE TRANSMISSION PACKAGE; IN HIS OPINION ANY ISSUE WITH THE TORQUE AT LOW RPMS. VW REFUSES TO EVEN LOOK AT THE ISSUE, AT THIS TIME. WE WORRY IS THE CAR IS DEFECTIVE AND IT DAMAGES THE VALUE OF THE VEHICLE AND WORSE IT'S A SAFETY ISSUE AS IT CAUSES ACCELERATED HEATING AND FAILURE RATE FOR THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION SYSTEM. MY HUSBAND HAS RESEARCHED THE ISSUE ON GOOGLE, DOCUMENT ID: 32-18-01TT PROVES THAT VW AG KNOWS THIS ISSUE IS A DEFECT PART, THEY CLAIM THAT IT'S 'A NORMAL CHARACTERISTIC OF THE VEHICLE' HOWEVER, THE DOCUMENT LITERALLY MENTIONS THE TERM 'SCRAPING'. HE HAS ALSO TESTED THE CAR, AND IF HE PUT THIS CAR IN MANUAL MODE AND RIGHT BEFORE 4TH GEAR HITS 2000 RPM, SWITCH TO 5TH GEAR AND LET IT DROP TO AROUND 1300-1400 RPM AND ACCELERATE LIGHTLY (ESPECIALLY ON AN INCLINE); YOU'LL HEAR A LOUD SOUND THAT SCRAPES ALL THE WAY TO 2000 RPM.

WHILE ACCELERATING, A DISTINCT GRINDING NOISE COMES FROM THE TRANSMISSION. THE NOISE IS CONSISTENTLY HEARD WHILE THE VEHICLE IS ACCELERATING BETWEEN 25-30 MPH. MY VEHICLE IS ROUGHLY 5 MONTHS OFF THE LOT AND HAS LESS THAN 10K MILES, SO THIS NOISE IS VERY CONCERNING. THIRD PARTY MECHANICS HAVE CONFIRMED THE NOISE IS A HAZARD FOR THE TRANSMISSION, AND HAVE ADVISED TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO VOLKSWAGEN FOR A WARRANTY REPAIR. BOTH THE VOLKSWAGEN DEALERSHIP AND VOLKSWAGEN CUSTOMER SERVICE HAVE NOTIFIED ME THE GRINDING NOISE IS NORMAL AND OF NO CONCERN. HOWEVER, A SOFTWARE PATCH IS AVAILABLE TO "FIX" THE "NON-ISSUE". VOLKSWAGEN CUSTOMER SERVICE ALSO NOTIFIED ME THE PATCH DOES NOT COMPLETELY FIX THE GRINDING NOISE. WHEN I PRESSED FURTHER, CUSTOMER SERVICE NOTIFIED ME THERE ARE NO OTHER OPTIONS AND "THERE IS NOTHING WE CAN DO AT THIS TIME TO FIX IT." THE DEALERSHIP ALSO CONFIRMED THE NOISE IS PRESENT IN OTHER 2019 JETTAS ON THEIR LOT, WHICH IS WHY THEY SAID THE NOISE IS NORMAL FOR MY VEHICLE. IT SOUNDS LIKE VW HAS A TRANSMISSION ISSUE WITH ALL 2019 JETTAS, AND THEY DO NOT KNOW HOW AND/OR REFUSE TO FIX IT.

1. FIRST ISSUE IS THE CAR RUNNING LOW ON OIL BEFORE IT REACHES THE 10K MILE MARK. THIS CAR SHOULD BE GETTING AN OIL CHANGE EVERY 10K MILES HOWEVER IT WILL RUN OUT OF OIL BEFORE THE 10K MARK IS ACHIEVED. 2. THERE IS A GRINDING NOISE AT ABOUT 30MPH THAT SEEMS TO BE ASSOCIATED WITH THE GEAR CHANGE. THEREFORE, I BELIEVE THIS PARTICULAR ISSUE IS TRANSMISSION RELATED. THIS PARTICULAR ISSUE HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE THE CAR WAS FIRST PURCHASED.

TRANSMISSION TORQUE CONVERTER ISSUE. TRANSMISSION MAKES LOUD NOISE IN 5TH AROUND 25 - 30 MPH GEAR. HAS A VIBRATION OVER 45 MPH AND OVER AT STEADY SPEED. VW HAS A SOFTWARE PATCH TCM 37L7 (HELPS TO REDUCE 450HZ VIBRATION) WHICH IS SUPPOSE TO HELP, BUT THEY WILL NOT PATCH CARS ALREADY SOLD. WHEN I BOUGHT MY VEHICLE IT HAD UNDER 10 MILES. IT DID NOT HAVE THIS ISSUE UNTIL I PUT ON JUST OVER 100 MILES. THE PATCH IS MORE OF A MASK THAN A FIX. V W ALSO HAS HAD MANY TRANSMISSION SEAL LEAKS, I SUSPECT THAT THE VIBRATION THE TORQUE CONVERTER PRODUCES IS THE CAUSE.
