Okay guys this is a HUGE problem with not only the civic si but any motor car equipped with a 1.5t engine (accord, Honda, crv) . My car is bone stock and I’m casually accelerating onto highway followed by abrupt misfireing( I believe and completely out of nowhere) and all of a sudden my engine completely explodes! Literally engine parts on the highway and my car has next to now power and I barely was able to pull over to the side without completely smoking out the highway!! My car is bone stock never modified so we get it towed to mechanic and he says headgasket failed, which in turned destroyed the engine?! I do a little research and see 100s of videos of blown up 1.5t Honda cars with blown head gaskets! It’s obviously a huge problem but I guess Honda doesn’t care right? Please please if you don’t think this is gonna happen again to someone you gotta be ignorant ask Honda techs if they’re noticing blown headgaskets they’ll tell you they do sometimes 4-5 headgaskets a week on the Honda 1.5turbo engine. Or YouTube I’m not joking and this is a huge problem!

I was driving straight going 35mph on a 2 lane rd when my steering wheel starting making a weird noise & almost was shaking. The steering wheel then locked up to the left & wouldn’t move. This caused my driver side tire to go into the curb, & at this point my steering wheel was spinning in circles & all I could do was brake. After bumping off the curb I then was thrusted back over to the right lane (due to having no steering control) where I came to a stop grazing another vehicle. My insurance performed diagnostics on the vehicle & determined the steering rack housing assembly part failed, causing the accident. There was no damage at all to the vehicle that would indicate this part was damaged as result of the incident, therefore they are calling it “pre existing damage” even though Honda did a multipoint inspection on my car 08/03/2024 (not even a whole 3 months prior) that did not mention a single steering problem. It was ultimately determined this failure is what caused the incident. Upon further research I have found millions of Civics are recalled for this issue but not my year of the vehicle. However, I have found countless stories exactly like mine with steering failure all regarding the 2019 Honda Civic. I am now without a vehicle, insurance refused to pay for the failed part, and I have reached out to Honda over 10 times trying to get in contact with someone about this to no avail. I truly was terrified for my life and feel this needs to be addressed because as previously mentioned, there are countless other 2019 Honda Civic owners with the same horrifying stories. This puts not only owners at risk but all other drivers.

I purchased this car from Fox Honda a few weeks after it was sold to the car dealership. When I picked up the car and drove home, I noticed noises from the car. I took my car to a body shop nearby to check. The mechanic said one of the tires wasn’t sealed. I continued to hear weird noises coming from the front of my car. A month later, the low-tire-pressure sign appeared. I called the salesperson again, and he said the car was fine due to weather. I was worried, so I took the car to Honda City in Liverpool, NY to get inspected. They got rid of the low-tire-pressure sign. The service of Fox Honda was inadequate as it didn’t make sure the car I bought was inspected throughout before selling it. Everyone convinced me that there was no problem with the car until my car corrupted on January 4, 2021. My son was driving the car home from school. When he made the left turn, he said the car seemed out of balance and then it hit the sidewalk. The speed in the area was about 35mph, and the car was driven slower than the speed because it made a left turn at the intersection. The wheel and front axle on the passenger side fell off from the vehicle. He was scared, so he called 911. Police came, and people on the road all thought it was the strangest thing that ever happened to a car. My husband and I were glad that my son was ok, but a car’s wheel and its axes can’t just fall off like that. My son could end up in the hospital if he drove on the highway. Honda C said my case couldn’t move forward if the body shop at Honda did not give them the inspection report (My insurance did assess the damage, but Honda C did not accept it). The body shop said we had to wait for 2 months, but yesterday, Tuesday 2/21, I met the service manager to ask him to speed up the inspection, and he said Honda C would do it, not him. It was upsetting because both parties stated different things. My pre-paid legal service attorney advised me to report to DMV and the defects to the NHTSA.

I OWN A 6 SPEED MANUAL SPORT COUPE PURCHASED ON 5/30/19. ON 2/10/20 I WAS STOPPED AT A LIGHT ON A SLIGHT DOWNHILL 15- 20' BEHIND CAR IN FRONT. SHIFT WAS IN NEUTRAL WITH MY FOOT ON BRAKE PEDAL. AFTER A WHILE, MY CAR STARTED MOVING FORWARD. I PUSHED HARDER ON THE BRAKE PEDEAL BUT NO RESPONSE AND COASTED INTO REAR OF CAR. ONE PERSON IN EACH CAR AND NOBODY INJURED. FEARFUL THAT BRAKE FAILURE WOULD OCCUR AGAIN, HAD CAR TOWED TO LOCAL HONDA DEALER WHERE PURCHASED. RECEIPT TO ME INDICTED THEY DID DIAGNOSTIC TESTING, INSPECTED BRAKE SYSTEM AND TEST DROVE CAR. "ADVISED CUSTOMER NO PROBLEMS AT THE MOMENT". AS NOTED BEFORE TESTING, SINCE NO MANUFACTURER DEFECTS FOUND WAS CHARGED $139.95. ON 2/11, RECEIVED CALL FROM MGR. OF HONDA SVC. DEPT. DUE TO MY NEGATIVE SURVEY RESPONSES. TOLD HIM I WAS NOT SATISFIED WITH ANSWER BY EMPLOYEE TO MY QUESTION OF WHY FORWARD COLLISION MITIGATION/FCM DID NOT BRAKE WHEN GETTING CLOSE TO CAR. MGR. STATED THAT FCM IS DESIGNED NOT TO WORK WHEN CAR IN NEUTRAL OR REVERSE. I CONSIDER LACK OF FCM IN NEUTRAL TO BE A SERIOUS SAFETY DESIGN FLAW. MGR. THEN RECOMMENDED THAT I OPEN CASE WITH HONDA CUSTOMER RELATIONS WHICH DONE ON 2/14. REP. TOOK DOWN MY INFO. AND ASKED WHAT I WANTED FROM HONDA. I SAID THEY NEED TO DETERMINE WHY THE BRAKE FAILURE HAPPENED AND WHAT CAN BE DONE SO I HAVE CONFIDENCE THAT IT WILL NEVER OCCUR AGAIN. SHE THEN GAVE ME A CASE # AND STATED THAT IT WOULD NEED TO BE REFERRED TO THE "LEVEL 1" DEPT. HANDLING ACCIDENTS/INJURIES/FATALITIES. RECEIVED A CALL FROM "LEVEL 1" ON 2/17 BUT WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO/WAS A LOCAL DEALER ISSUE AND HE WAS TO CONTACT THE MGR. OF THE LOCAL HONDA SVC. DEPT. I SENT VOICE/E-MAILS TO MGR. OF LOCAL HONDA SVC. DEPT. ON 2/21 NOTING MY EXPERIENCE WITH CUST. RELATIONS/"LEVEL 1", AND ASKING WHAT ARE THE NEXT STEPS -- AWAITING RESPONSE. I PARKED MY CAR IN THE DRIVEWAY AND PUT THE BRAKE ON AND THE CAR IN PARK. I SAT IN MY CAR WHILE OFF FOR A MINUTE WHILE CALLING MY SON TO ASK HIM A QUESTION. ABOUT 30 SECONDS AFTER I GOT OUT OF THE CAR AND SHUT THE DOOR (THERE WAS NO NOISE INDICATION THERE WAS AN ISSUE), THE CAR ROLLED OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY AND HIT MY NEIGHBORS CAR. WHEN I WENT TO CHECK MY CAR, THE CAR WAS STILL IN PARK AND THE RED BRAKE LIGHT WAS STILL GLOWING. I HAD BROUGHT MY CAR IN 2 TIMES BEFORE THIS HAPPENED TO COMPLAIN THAT THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WITH THE STABILITY CONTROL WASN'T WORKING PROPERLY. THE CAR WAS BRAKING ON ITS ON AND LANE ASSIST KEPT COMING ON WHEN IT SHOULDN'T HAVE. HONDA SAID ALL WAS GOOD. THE LAST TIME I BROUGHT IT IN, FOR THE TIRE LIGHTS COMING ON, THEY SAID THE TIRE STICKER WAS TOO CLOSE TO THE RIM AND THAT'S WHY THERE WAS AN ISSUE. THIS WAS AFTER BRINGING IT IN FOR THIS PROBLEM 2 TIMES TO BE TOLD IT WAS OK AND THEY ONLY ADDRESSED IT AFTER MY FLAT. BUT WITHIN 30 MINUTES OF DRIVING AWAY THE LIGHTS CAME ON AGAIN. FOR SURE THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR AND I DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING IT.

How to use these: a complaint is one owner’s report, filed voluntarily and published unverified. Patterns matter more than any single story. If several owners describe the same failure at similar mileage, put that system at the top of your pre-purchase inspection list. Back to the full 2019 Honda Civic Hatchback Hybrid verdict →
