Manufacturer Recall NumberC4B NHTSA Recall Number24V-896 Recall StatusRecall Incomplete, remedy not yet available Some (2017-2018 MY Ram xxx) vehicles may have been built with a brake hydraulic control unit ("HCU") that is susceptible to failure or malfunction which may result in a reduction or change of Anti-Lock Brake System ("ABS")/Electronic Stability Control ("ESC") /Traction Control performance. A failing HCU will initially result in the intermittent loss of ABS/Traction control progressing to permanent loss. * I am writing to express my serious concerns regarding the safety of my vehicle, which is experiencing continuous warning lights and persistent beeping related to the ABS and ESC systems. The dash lights keep blinking on and off, creating a distracting and alarming environment while driving. The constant beeping sound further exacerbates the situation, making it difficult to concentrate and increasing the risk of an accident. This ongoing malfunction compromises the vehicle’s braking and stability functionalities, posing a significant safety hazard to myself, passengers, and others on the road. I urge immediate attention and repair to resolve this issue and ensure safe driving conditions.

The recall for theABS HCU has been in place for well over a year with no parts. Nothing is being done with this recall. My ABS HCU has not been working in two years causing loss of traction control, no ABS, no cruise control. I was almost in a head on collision with a car in my lane and the truck skidded off the road. Luckily there’s was no collision or injury. It is ridiculous that ram still offers the part that has been identified as bad but has made no effort to replace with a better unit yet are continuing to build new vehicles. At the very least RAM should install a new “bad” part until replacement parts are available. I have attached a screenshot of the RAM app showing the status of the recall.

We have been waiting for almost two years for the traction control and ads break repair. When will something be done about this recall not being repaired?

We have been waiting over a year now for the below to be remedied. Our ABS light goes off constantly and when it does, it causes cruise to stop working. There is a notification alarm (ding) that goes off and on while driving the truck. We pull a 41ft 5th Wheel and we were told it was okay to pull, however, we have now been advised that it's not a good idea to pull. How is this fair when we bought this truck for the intention of pulling our 5th wheel and now it's not safe. Therefore, our truck can't even be used for the intended purpose safely. I've looked into Nebraska Lemon Law and I feel that we are WAY over the point of having to wait for this correction to be sent to a dealer so that we can get it fixed. I would appreciate a part being sent ASAP so we can use our truck for the intended purpose of hauling our 5th Wheel or buy this truck back and give me a new one. I'm tired of not being able to use our truck to pull our 5th wheel (We don't have another vehicle that can pull our camper) and I'm sick and tired of driving the truck and having the ABS going on and off and on and off and not being able to use cruise. Not to mention the sole fact that it really isn't that safe if a crash can happen. 2018 RAM 3500 VIN: [XXX] Recall data refreshed on Mar 16,2026 1 Unrepaired Recalls associated with this VIN Nov 27,2024 Manufacturer Recall Number: C4B NHTSA Recall Number: 24V-896 Recall Status: Recall Incomplete, remedy not yet available Summary Some (2017-2018 MY Ram xxx) vehicles may have been built with a brake hydraulic control unit ("HCU") that is susceptible to failure or malfunction which may result in a reduction or change of Anti-Lock Brake System ("ABS")/Electronic Stability Control ("ESC") /Traction Control performance. I have an open safety recall for 16 months (recall below). I and my family drive a Dodge Ram 3500 dually truck and haul my horses in a large gooseneck horse trailer. The recall states: “Safety RiskThe loss of ABS/ESC/Traction control may cause a vehicle crash without prior warning.” It’s not my problem that parts are not available. But it is my problem that I, my husband, or my daughter or any combination thereof could DIE for as long as this problem exists without repair. Are they afraid of tariffs or are they sinking all their time, effort and MONEY into their new distribution plant near Detroit. I want this ON RECORD: I WANT MY TRUCK REPAIRED NOW or I want a loaner truck (suitable to haul my trailer) until it is fixed. My 2018 Ram 3500 is included in the NHTSA Recall # 24V-896. My warning lights have been coming on for a while now and so I believe my ABS is not active. I am being told parts are not available. As I am sure you know the recall was issued 11/27/2024. I feel like they have had more than enough time to have the parts available and am very dissatisified with the situation.

While towing 10,000 lb trailer vehicle displayed indicators that traction control and ABS were failing. I've taken vehicle to dealer 5 times since recall and it's now over 1 year and Chrysler failed to remedy recalled defective part 68143491AA. Chrysler complaint case no. 95672952 filed on 2/16/26. Chrysler HAS in fact produced the replacement part No. 68143491AB - supersedes failed part no. above. Local dealers have qty 9 of part locally in stock and sell to public for $500. After calling many parts dept sources, I learned dealers are lying and telling current owners no remedy available under recall so that Chrysler can prioritize replacing Ram trucks traded in to dealers so they can fix under recall and make those vehicles sellable by dealers as highest priority for parts. However, dealers are also willing to sell the new part to consumers at full msrp at parts counter + labor in service center. So they make eligible customers pay full price up front and fight to get reimbursed later after being out nearly $1000 to fix Chrysler's problem. I get that there may not be enough parts on hand for every recalled unit - yet. But there are enough now at dealers that when a truck comes in to dealer service center with proven HCU failure indicators (traction control and ABS warning lights) those customers should be given the recall part with labor as required of Chrysler. In my case, brake failure warning lights were documented 7 months ago at North Fort Worth Auto Nation dealer service center under invoice #187541. So, there is no excuse why I'm now being lied to and told they don't have new part 68143491AB when parts mgr told me himself they have 8 parts in stock at that dealership alone as of 2/16/26. NHTSA is allowing Chrysler to self-regulate on this without sufficient oversight. After a year plus since first recall notice there is NO excuse why current owners should be denied available parts to fix this known major safety issue.

Vehicle ABS malfunctions routinely. This comprises reliability and overall road safety. This recall is well over 3 years old and the manufacturer has not done enough to remedy this defect, knowing that the entire fleet shares this ABS system failure. On ice, snow and inclement weather conditions the ABS failure results in brakes locking and the vehicle going into sliding. Dodge doesn’t care about the safety of their products and as a consequence risk the safety of millions of Americans daily.

How to use these: a complaint is one owner’s report, filed voluntarily and published unverified. Patterns matter more than any single story. If several owners describe the same failure at similar mileage, put that system at the top of your pre-purchase inspection list. Back to the full 2018 Ram 3500 verdict →
