The instrument cluster display malfunctioned. The odometer and MPG (fuel economy) display are affected. The component is available for inspection upon request. If the fuel gauge becomes affected by this malfunction, the driver would be unable to monitor fuel levels, risking unexpected engine stalling on highways without warning. The problem has not yet been confirmed by a dealer or service center. The issue is intermittent and currently in early stages. The vehicle was taken to a Honda dealership for a recall repair (NHTSA #23V-858) approximately three week ago, but the instrument cluster issue was not discussed at that time. No warning lamps appeared. The odometer display goes blank for approximately 1 minute after engine start. This began recently and appears temperature-related, improving in hot weather. The MPG display also fluctuates erratically and shows unreliable readings.

Electrical board that controls the digital portion of the dashboard display fails in cold weather and (according to online discussion groups) appears to be progressively worse over time. My dashboard display is failing at temps below approx. 36 degrees Fahrenheit. The first failures were last winter (2024-25). The affected display includes odometer, fuel gauge, some service warnings/indicators, plus some additional but unimportant informational items (like outside temp, gas mileage, etc.). The right side gauge in the dashboard (fuel gage, odometer, mpg, etc) goes blank or shows giberish intermentently, especially when cold. Currently the display has been permanently blank for some months now. Reading in forums, this is a VERY common problem with 2015 and newer Honda Fit and Honda refuses to acknowledge its a common issue and thus no recall. Not knowing what your fuel level is a very big safety concern. Honda wants $1200 or more to fix.

My fuel gauge display malfunctions whenever the weather is too cold outside, causing the screen to go blank. It remains blank or glitches gibberish words until the screen returns to normal or stays frozen with gibberish language. I've noticed that the fuel gauge display works fine if I'm driving before 8 am during cold mornings, but it starts to malfunction or flicker until the display is frozen or blank once it's past 8 am. This problem has made it difficult for me to know when I'm low on gas as I commute a long distance for work. It's especially difficult during the cold winter months when my fuel gauge display is blank or malfunctioning 95% of the time. I've been experiencing this issue for about 3-4 years now whenever the colder seasons approach. I've been quoted $1000 to replace the entire dashboard by the Honda dealership when this issue wasn't a problem caused by me as other Honda fit owners have experienced the same concerns.

digital display with mileage, gas maintenance information intermittently fails or appears scrambled. Could possibly be connected to temperature but not consistent. It is a safety issue in that you don’t know how much gas you have and you cannot check maintenance information. This has been happening intermittently for about 2 1/2 years.

My vehicle has been inoperable since 2023. The dealership refuses to repair the fuel pump and all other issues, per the manufacturers recall. Steve Allain at Honda of Covington reported to me that the vehicle would not re-start if turned off. The leadership at the dealership (Kyle Mitchell) and Courtney Gullien communicated to me that the car was operable and the fuel pump was repaired, but will not provide service records that document this information. Tim in the parts department has communicated to me multiple times that no one from the dealership has ordered any parts related to the fuel pump recall for my vehicle. The manufacturer refuses assist with this matter and send someone from corporate to inspect the vehicle after multiple requests. The check engine light provided warning, along with a loud burning smell from the vehicle. The insurance company also refused to send a representative to inspect the vehicle. The issues with the stalling of the vehicle, not starting upon turning the key, and foul smell has been an ongoing issue since purchase. The previous dealerships claimed that they repaired the vehicle. The fuel pump is the component that has been failing. The vehicle has been inoperable and at the dealership since April 2023.

Digital odometer and fuel gague does not display, or displays scrambled letter/numbers. It appears to be related to temperature. When it is warm outside or the car warms up it will display, but id the car just started or it is cold out side it will not display at all or will be scrambled. Pounding on the dashboard sometimes causes it to turn on. This is an extremely common issue that i am seeing online from other honda fit owners and has been happening for the past 6 years from what i have found. Affecting 2015 models to the last models made. It is a safety issue to not be able to read your fuel level. And the odometer needs tor be read in order to see when oil needs to be changed and other services/maintenance.

The fuel gauge/mileage screen intermittently stops working, resulting in a blank blue screen, particularly in cold weather. This can be inspected upon request but the issue is intermittent. This can be distracting but also concerning if the driver does not know how much gas is left in the car. A Honda Dealership confirmed this problem, inspected the gauge cluster (combination meter assembly), and recommended a $1,210 replacement if it completely stopped working. Only the dealership has inspected the car. There were no warning lamps or messages before this issue appeared and there is no water damage to the contacts in the electrical system. The issue first appeared about a year before this inspection.

Multiple systems failure simultaneously. Lane Keep assist system, adaptive cruise control, braking system failure and automatic emergency braking as well as forward collision warning. This appears to be due to some fault within the system that multiple owners experience — many mentions of this issue in online forums. When taken to Honda they cannot even determine why but just start suggesting replacement of various systems to include the camera/radar but cannot guarantee this will fix. This is a safety issue and happens through no fault of the vehicle owner it just pops on one day and remains intermittent.

Mileage/gas display shows gibberish. Does not read the accurate gas level, cannot read mileage or time. This gets better as the weather is warm but during the cold months it doesn't work at all. This poses a safety issue as it could leave the driver stranded if they didn't know how much gas they have.

The instrument cluster on the right side of the dash intermittently fails at random times for unexpected durations. Some days, the screen will fail for days/hours at a time and others will be a minute or so. This is a safety issue because the cars total mileage is read off of this digital display along with the fuel remaining the tank. many other people are having the same issue from the same generation of Honda Fits. This should be a recall.

The gauge cluster pod that displays the fuel gauge and the odometer blanks out and/or completely scrambles to gibberish. This is apparently a common problem with a few Honda models and seems to stem from the incorrect manufacturing of the part. This is a safety issue since without a fuel gauge the vehicle can unexpectedly run out of gas at any time, stranding the driver and passengers in precarious situations. Further, without an odometer the owner can miss required scheduled maintenance.

If the manufacturer has failed or is unable to remedy this safety recall for your vehicle in a timely manner, Please contact the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at: 1-888-327-4236 or TTY: 1-800-424-9153 or file an online complaint with NHTSA. My company vehicle has fluid leaking on the floor, the check engine light constantly coming on, the rear camera is intermittently inoperable and it smells like something has died in it (mold/mildew). Since I have owned the vehicle, I have reported these issues to Honda dealerships and they have claimed to fix the problems. I paid for an extended warranty and each time the dealership forced me to pay for repeat issues that repeatedly continued to happen. The battery died more than once right after I purchased it. The car had to be towed a few times because of the electrical battery issue. The fluid that was leaking on the floor caused my leg, lungs and mental health to suffer. I am currently under doctors care for the mechanical issues the car has caused. This is my company vehicle and it has been at Honda of Covington since April 2023. American Honda has refused to help me get to the bottom of why multiple dealerships have refused to fix the vehicle.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned: gauge cluster failure from computer microchip manufacture defect. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? cannot read gas level or when car needs service, which can cause vehicle to stop in middle of road Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer: yes, Capital City Honda Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer: Capital City Honda Were there any symptoms of the problem prior to the failure: dimming and then blank gauge cluster, occurred April 2023 Please see attached dealer diagnosis and other reported cluster failures from Honda owners. This is a widespread issue for Honda that is not being addressed by the manufacturer. This should be a national recall safety issue.

The fuel gauge and odometer digital display shorts out. It will either completely go blank or have digital distortion where the characters are unreadable. I do not know how many miles I have left in my gas tank. I can't get a reading for oil life or how many miles I have traveled. I can't even get a reading on the odometer when I take my car in for service. Occasionally the display will return to normal after the vehicle is running for some time. Other times, it never returns. It seemed worse in colder weather, but the summer temps of 90-100, it is still not reliable and it is functions on occasion. I have not taken it in to be serviced because of potential cost, but can see that others have the same problem from my internet searches. My 2018 Fit has about 45,000 miles on it. This has been happening for the past year. This is a safety concern, because I don't know how much gas I have, or if I will make it to the next service station on long trips. It causes stress and anxiety. The gas tank holds no more than 10 gallons, so I'm stopping more frequently to gas up, for fear I will be stranded on a remote road. Honda is a usually a reliable product. It would be appreciated if Honda recalled this odometer/gas display because no one wants to own a defective and unsafe product. Please make this right, Honda.

The contact owns a 2018 Honda Fit. The contact stated that on various occasions while his wife was driving at various speeds, the vehicle lost motive power with the ABS, traction control, and other unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that occasionally the vehicle failed to restart and was towed to a local dealer however, the failure could not be duplicated, and the fault codes were cleared. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the fuel injector and spark plugs needed to be replaced; however, only the fuel injector was replaced. The contact stated that the failure recurred, and the vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic, where the spark plugs were replaced; however, the failure recurred. The contact stated that his wife was able to pull over and restart the vehicle. The vehicle was then taken to Honda of Hackettstown (48 US-46, Hackettstown, NJ 07840) where it remained awaiting further diagnostic tests and repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 30,000.

Car is four years old and has 80,000 miles. Fuel injectors became stuck in an open position flooding the engine with fuel and frying the spark plugs. All emergency indicator lights came on and one light (the tire light) was flashing. Honda dealership confirmed fuel injectors were stuck open, but instead of admitting to failure in their parts, they blamed the problem on “bad gas.” An independent auto mechanic confirmed for me that gasoline should not be blamed on faulty fuel injectors. Unfortunately Honda charged me $2300 to replace parts that should last longer than four years.
