Steering wheel stays in the turned position and must be pulled back to return the wheel to center. Genesis is aware of this problem and has issued a Technical Service Bulletin #20-ST-004HG on 10/2020. Genesis only covered the repair to vehicles while under original warranty which is now expired for all 2018 Genesis models.

Recall in 2020 for a Oil Supply Pipe that is leaking and could cause a fire. It was completed in 2020. The same issue just occurred on 12/22/2023 where it stared leaking again and I took it to Genesis. They are saying I need to pay out of pocket but it is the same issue as the recall which is a fire hazard. They have had my car for 2 weeks. Opened a case with Genesis but they will not cover it. I have texts from the Gensis Mechanic saying it is the same issue. There were no warning signs except for the smoke when is was already leaking.

When taking long curves, the steering wheel binds in the direction of the turn, causing oversteer. Requires driver to make an exaggerated movement to return to property steering. When this occurs the steering wheel will not return to center without driver intention. This occurs whether the lane assist is on or off. It also does not seem to be temperature driven, as it happens in the heat and cold. Vehicle is out of warranty. Took to local mechanic and although was able to replicate, was not able to provide an explanation without the expense of completely tearing down steering components. I noticed it first starting to occur after I purchased it used in October 2022. It still occurs multiple times a day.

The contact stated that in December of 2019 the vehicle was serviced at the dealer for a service appointment and unknown recall repair for the turbo fluid injector. The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure like the description of the safety recall which was completed in 2019. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The vehicle was diagnosed with leaking turbo fluid onto the exhaust manifold. The contact stated that the left side turbo oil feed pipe needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 43,628.

Steering linkage intermittently causes steering wheel to bind when making an extended curve turn. Steering wheel will not return to center without driver effort. If not returned manually, vehicle will continue to veer to the side of the road. First occurred in July 2020 at mileage 27300. Vehicle taken to dealership where purchased (Davis Hyundai) for inspection. Service advisor stated they were aware of the issue and would replace necessary component under warranty. Issue resolved. Issue occurred again in December 2022 at mileage 47500. Selling dealer advised they were unable to service vehicle again as they no longer had the Genesis franchise. Was told to contact Fred Beans Hyundai in Doylestown PA. Contacted them on January 18, 2023 at which time the warranty was still in effect and advised service associate of the intermittent steering issue. Dealer could not service vehicle until February 27, 2023. Took the vehicle to them on February 27th for service. Service advisor said warranty had expired. This was true as of February 15th, 2023 not on January 18th 2023 when they were notified of the issue. Service advisor indicated they could not replicate the problem and therefore would not perform repair unless approved by Genesis. Over the past 6 months I have corresponded with Genesis Customer Service in an attempt to get the repair covered under warranty. I have been unsuccessful in getting this resolved. I continue to be told by the Genesis Customer Service associate [XXX] that the warranty group has not come to conclusion and that I must wait until they do. This is a serious issue that could potentially cause a complete freeze of the steering and cause a potential accident. I am requesting your assistance in getting this resolved. The vehicle was later towed to the local dealer who diagnosed that the turbo pipe seal had failed causing oil to drip onto the exhaust manifold causing the white smoke. The contact was informed that the turbo charger oil supply pipe needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The oil pressure light comes on intermittently - often at low RPMs and then goes away at higher RPMs. It is a very expensive repair and appears to be just due to a faulty oil pressure sensor. The light causes issues because it covers up whether there is another more serious problem that needs attention.

Several other dash controls were also inoperable. It seems the car did not "initialize" successfully yet did not display any warnings. Unknown if any ADAS such as cross traffic or blind spot were inactive. Stopping and starting the car a second time resolved the issues. But, with no warnings, what could have happened if a driver did not notice the issue and do a "restart"? Too many software bugs.

Steering becomes unresponsive after highway speed for an hour or more. Feels like sticking or binding (loss of power assist?) and considerable effort needed to adjust vehicle direction. Most notable on exit ramps. Several times I came close to going off an exit ramp onto the shoulder. Even driving along a straight highway the steering is no longer smooth or consistent. Thus, steering is very unpredictable. This is definitely a safety issue. This started at 29,000 mile about 2 weeks ago and has not gone away. The first dealer service appointment is in 2 weeks. No visible error lights.

Genesis installed dated technology (3G modules) for their connected services knowing 3G was being discontinued within 4 years of installing the technology. On December 31, 2022, Genesis will cease providing connected services to this car and model years 2017-2019. Genesis Connected services provides critical emergency services such as crash detection as well as numerous safety features, vehicle diagnostics, warnings, and navigation. All of these will no longer be available and Genesis has offered no plan to fix the issue. The G80 also has a stability issue when driving without the lane keeping assist feature engaged. The car struggles to stay in a constant direction, essentially pulling from side to side. The driver is forced to constantly make corrections while driving. Essentially, the driver is required to make corrections, via the steering wheel, every second or less when at highway speeds. However, even at lower speeds, there is a constant battle to keep the car steady in one direction. There’s a constant pulling from side to side.

All issues with the vehicle have been resolved.

Glass in front of the moon roof exploded outward. Corners where collapsed inward. Traveling aprox. 50 mph. Clear sunny day. No traffic in front or behind. My first thought was flat tire. Glass was standing straight up with a 2 in gap in the center. The next one may completely leave the vehicle and cause an accident. Not looking for reimbursement. Paid by insurance. I think there was some sort of pressure on the glass to cause the damage making it a product defect.

275.35r19 96w Continental Procontact TX Between 12-15k miles I had my two front tires form sidewall bubbles. The first bubble resulted in a blowout. Now at about 24k miles I'm told by the dealer the tread on my rear tires is almost gone. One rear tire, also, loses air monthly. I drive mostly locally and my longest trips are not greater than 70miles. I park in my driveway rarely where anything can hit the sidewall. For four tires to fail at this mileage indicates to me there is a serious flaw with the manufacturing.

Whenever I make a prolonged right hand turn the steering wheel sticks in that position until it is MANUALLY returned to center. For example, taking an on-ramp than is a large ‘U’, the vehicle steering wheel ‘sticks’ in the turned position to the right. I can take my hand off the wheel and it stays there until it is forcibly turned back to center. This has been going on since I owned the vehicle, but it has never been unrecoverable. It’s happened every time I take the same on-ramp…every time.

In general, when you release your grab from the steering wheel, it automatically return to a straight position, but when I steer my vehicle to the right then steering wheel is fixed in to the right position and not turning back, only way to steer in the front direction is using your force to steer it, which means if I failed to steer the wheel into the straight position then my car will get out of the lane and eventually collide with other structures, vehicle, or person I complained this many times before today to Genesis of Auburn service center but answer I received every time from the service center is they found nothing wrong, but the problem is getting worsen now, back then it only happens on the high-speed in highway but now it occurs in low-speed while driving in city
