WITHIN TWO WEEKS OF PURCHASE, AND WHILE DRIVING - THE VEHICLE HAD A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE RELATED TO ITS HYBRID BATTERY. A WEEK AFTER IT BEING RETURNED, IT DEVELOPED AN "ENGINE MALFUNCTION" LIGHT. SHORTLY AFTER GETTING THE CAR BACK (AGAIN), THE VEHICLE'S "DRIVE MODE" WAS MALFUNCTIONING. THIS ALLOWS THE VEHICLE TO GO FROM ELECTRIC TO AWD. THE FAILURE TO GO INTO AWD IS A REAL DANGER BECAUSE THE VEHICLE CANNOT SAFELY HANDLE ANY ROADS WITH ANY DEGREE OF WATER ON THEM W/O AWD.

How to use these: a complaint is one owner’s report, filed voluntarily and published unverified. Patterns matter more than any single story. If several owners describe the same failure at similar mileage, put that system at the top of your pre-purchase inspection list. Back to the full 2017 Volvo Xc90h verdict →
