IN THE PROCESS OF BACKING THE CAR OUT OF THE GARAGE, WITH THE CAR IN REVERSE, APPLICATION OF THE BRAKES HAD NO AFFECT ON SLOWING THE CAR. AFTER ABOUT 69-80 FEET (ACROSS THE DRIVEWAY, MY LAWN AND MY NEIGHBOR'S LAWN) IT CRASHED INTO THE NEIGHBOR'S SHED. THERE WAS $6000 DAMAGE TO THE CAR , SOME BACK PAIN AND DESTRUCTION OF THE SHED.TWO MONTHS LATER, THE SAME INCIDENT OCCURRED BUT THE CAR WAS STOPPED BY PUTTING IT INTO FIRST NEUTRAL GEAR AND THEN PARK BEFORE ANY DAMAGE. THEN WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PUT IN FORWARD GEAR, THE BRAKES WOULD NOT STOP THE CAR UNTIL IT WAS PUT IN FIRST, NEUTRAL AND THEN PARK. ATTEMPTS BY THE DEALER TO REPRODUCE THIS CONDITION WAS UNSUCCESSFUL AND THEREFORE COULD NOT BE CORRECTED.

How to use these: a complaint is one owner’s report, filed voluntarily and published unverified. Patterns matter more than any single story. If several owners describe the same failure at similar mileage, put that system at the top of your pre-purchase inspection list. Back to the full 2017 Toyota Camry verdict →
