THIS MODEL VEHICLE AND SEVERAL OTHERS THAT I HAVE EXPERIENCED, HAVE A CENTER CONSOLE CUPHOLDER THAT IS TRIMMED IN CHROME. THE CHROME IS PEELING ON BOTH CUPHOLDERS AT THE EDGES AND EXTREMELY SHARP AND HAVE PERSONALLY BEEN CUT AND CAUSING LACERATIONS AND BLEEDING.

It was cold out and my sister was driving my car with the heated seats on when she started to smell fire as well as her back got really hot. She pulled over and leaned forward and discovered a flame/fire coming through the seat back. She burned my hand and had visible ash on it trying to put the fire out. There is now a hole in the seat back from where the fire burned through.

Not sure what component caused the vehicle to burst into flames. It is no longer (to the best of my knowledge) available for inspection (unless still at tow yard). The Jeep burned, caught another vehicle in the driveway on fire, as well as fence separating neighbor's house, and spread to structure (my house). Vehicle was inspected by ins. reps/others. It was taped off as battery was still live. Fire report states vehicle fire. Car was parked in driveway and was not driven for two days. No prior warnings or recalls.

On [XXX], I was involved in an accident in Maryland while driving my 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee. It was raining and despite attempting to slow down, brakes performed poorly, causing my car to skid and collide with the vehicle in front of me. Fortunately, no one else was injured, but I sustained a neck injury, and my car was ended up a total loss. During the accident, I noticed the ABS warning light had activated. This, combined with prior experiences of delayed brake response, raised concerns about the vehicle’s safety. Having derive. For over 15 years without incidents, this was my first major accident and I suspect it may be linked to a mechanical issue. After learning about recent calls related ABS/brake issues in Jeep vehicles, I felt it was important to report my experience. I urge you to re-evaluate the safety of the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee’s ABS and braking systems to prevent similar incidents in the future. The contact owned a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the brake pedal was depressed while in the park position gear, the engine revved and the vehicle accelerated independently forward causing the contact to hit her head on the headrest. The contact confirmed by looking down if in fact her foot was on the brake pedal and it was during the incident. As a result, the contact crashed into the waiting room of a building. The contact remained depressing the brake pedal and shifted into reverse however her head hit the headrest again. The contact then attempted to shift into the park position but the vehicle continued to accelerate on its own and crashed into a parked Mercedes-Benz and then crashed into the rear door of a parked vehicle where the vehicle came to a stop. During the incident, the Anti-Braking System did not engage. The air bags did not deploy. The driver sustained a concussion and neck injury which later required medical treatment. The vehicle was destroyed and towed away. A police report was filed. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer was notified of the crash but no assistance was offered. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 67,500.

This is [XXX] . On September 14, 2023 had a very big crash with our 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee. My husband and Granddaughter were in the crash. Everyone is okay but the Jeep is totaled. At 7:00am, the Jeep accelerated out of control, my husband was trying applying the breaks, but the accelerator over powered the brake system. The car reached speeds of between 74-83 mph based on the Life 360 app our both my husband and granddaughter have on their phones. This occurred in downtown Lebanon KY during the morning school hours. He was unable to stop or slow down the Jeep. It resulted in him running through 2 red lights and 2 4 way stops. He also had to avoid hitting several cars and pedestrians including children. Finally the jeep skidded to the right of the road and hit a telephone pole, a bridge guard rail where the front passenger side tire was torn off, and went up an embankment and hit a tree. The police at the scene estimated the car hit the tree about approximately 50 MPH. No airbags deployed and of course the car is totaled. Our daughter drives our other 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee and had the same issue a week before this happened but she was on an open road and was able to use the paddles on the steering wheel to disengage the cruise control and get the car under control. Jeep is saying that there is no recall so we will have to pay for the 2015 to be looked at. Of course we are going to do that immediately. The Dealer has engaged a 3rd party from Bosch to retrieve the data from the cars computer system but that has not happened yet. There were no warning lights on, the vehicle is awaiting Chrysler's inspection. The Insurance company deemed the vehicle a total loss based on the photos we sent them. The Police inspected the car after the accident. We have all the service records for both Jeeps. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The steering wheel locked while making a left-hand turn. A minor accident resulted. Yes, the safety of the driver was put at risk with minor injuries resulting. A complaint was filed with Jeep and a case number was assigned by FCA. Insurance was contacted however it did not cover the cost of damage that caused the accident. The component was inspected by the Jeep representative however they blamed the part failure due to damage to the undercarriage prior to the incident. This damage was done during the transport of the vehicle after the accident due to the difficulty of towing on a flatbed truck with the tires stuck in the full-turn position and the apparatus needed to load.. There were no warnings or indications prior at all. The power steering fluid was full.

1. The vehicle was in park and it proceeded to move forward by itself. 2. The vehicle could have easily hit myself, my father or my dog. 3. I will report the incident to the dealership today. 4. There was no warning lamp present. The vehicle was on. It was in park. I had exited the vehicle and the door was closed. The vehicle then moved forward by itself and crashed into my parents' car. I had to enter the moving vehicle to address the situation.

I OWNED A 2017 JEEP FOR ONLY 45 DAYS BEFORE THE THROTTLE STUCK WIDE OPEN AND IT WAS TOTALED! I AM VERY FORTUNATE THAT NOBODY ELSE WAS INJURED BECAUSE MY JEEP SPED ACROSS THE CHURCH PARKING LOT, RAN OVER 3 TELEPHONE POLE (LYING ON THE GROUND AT THE EDGE OF THE PARKING LOT) AND CRASHED INTO THE FENCING OF MY CHURCH'S SOFTBALL FIELD. I PUSHED THE IGNITION BUTTON AND THE ENGINE WOULD NOT TURN OFF. I PUSHED THE BREAKS AND IT WOULD NOT STOP! EVENTUALLY THE JEEP WAS STOPPED BY THE FENCE WHILE ALL 4 WHEELS CONTINUED SPINNING OUT OF CONTROL. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW IT FINALLY SHUT OFF AS EVERYTHING I TRIED HAD NO EFFECT! I WILL NEVER TRUST A JEEP AGAIN IN MY LIFE!!!! THIS WAS VERY SCARY AND UNACCEPTABLE!!!!*DT

I I WAS DRIVING IN MY MOMS 2017 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE AND IN MOTION ON A CITY STREET AND I WAS NOT AWARE OF THE SEAT SETTING BUTTON ON THE DRIVERS SIDE PANEL DOOR ITS POSITIONED IN A TERRIBLE PLACE FOR PEOPLE WITH LONGER LEGS, I HAD DROPPED A MILK SHAKE AFTER PICKING IT UP OUT OF THE CUP HOLDER AND IT SLIPPED OUT OF MY HAND AND BETWEEN MY LEGS ROLLING BEHIND THE BRAKE, IT HAD A LID ON IT SO I WASN'T WORRIED ABOUT IT SPILLING OR MAKING A MESS. I JUST CASULLY TRIED TO PICK IT UP BY SPRESDING MY LEGS AND REACHING DOWN TO PICK IT UP WHILE KEEPING MY EYES ON THE ROAD. BUT, THAT ENDED UP BEING THE WRONG THING TO DO ,MY KNEE HIT THE S BUTTON FOR THE DRIVERS 1 AND 2 MEMORY. THE SEAT STARTED GOING FORWARD AND I COULDN'T STOP IT. I HAD MY LEGS SPREAD TO PICK UP THE SHAKE I HAD NO TIME TO DO ANYTHING WITH THEM THE NEXT THING I KNEW I WAS PINNED BETWEEN THE STEERING WHEEL AND THE CAR SEAT MY LKNEES AND LEGS WERE SCRUNCHED. I COULDN'T STEER,I COULDN'T HIT THE BRAKES,I WAS, PINNED VERY TIGHT AGAINST THE STEERING WHEEL. IM A BIG GU, IT WAS TIGHT,I COULDN'T BRAKE BECAUSE MY LEGS WERE PINNED AS WELL, I WAS HELPLESS., I WRECKED INTO A CAR AND THEN HITTING A BRIDGE BEING SO CLOSE TTO THE STEERING WHEEL THE AIR BAGS ALL WENT OFF ALL I REMEMBER WAS THE SEAT GOING DOWN AFTER GOING ALL THE WAY TO FRONT AND THEN DROPPING DOWN AND STAYING THERE I WAS DROPPING DOWN WHEN THE BAGS HIT ME . I KNEW THAT THE SEAT CONTROLS WERE DOWN ON THE LEFT SIDE OF ME. TRIED TO MAKE IT STOP, SO I COULD. IM WONDERING IF ANYONE ELSE HAS EVER HIT THIS BUTTON BY ACCIDENT AND THE SEATS STARTED DOING THE SAME THING TO THENM AS IT DID TO ME. IS THIS IS AN ELECTRICAL DEFEACT OR IT WAS JUST A FLUKE? AND WHY DOES THE SEAT DO THAT WHEN THE CAR IS MOVING. I THINK IT SHOULD BE AUTOMATICALLY TURNED OFF WHILE MOVING. IF THE BUTTON IS GOING TO BE THERE. IM SO SORRYFOR THE FAMILY. WE ALL SHOULDN'T HAVE HAD TO GO THROUGH THIS.

How to use these: a complaint is one owner’s report, filed voluntarily and published unverified. Patterns matter more than any single story.
