I'VE NEEDED TO ADD A QUART OF OIL EVERY 1000 MILES SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NEW. I RETURNED THE CAR TO THE DEALER AT APPROXIMATELY 3200 MILES AND WAS PUT ON AN "OIL CONSUMPTION MONITORING PROGRAM" WHERE I RETURNED THE CAR EVERY 1000 MILES FOR MEASURING THE OIL CONSUMPTION. THIS WAS DONE EVERY 1000 MILES AND THE CAR NOW HAS 15,700 MILES. WHEN I RETURNED TO THE DEALER TIME BEFORE LAST, I WAS TOLD TO DRIVE IT ANOTHER 1000 MILES, RETURN AND IF OIL MUST BE ADDED, CHRYSLER WILL "REPLACE THE ENGINE." WHEN I SCHEDULED MY LAST CONSUMPTION CHECK, I WAS TOLD CHRYSLER NOW UPPED THE CHECKING INTERVAL TO 1500 MILES. I THEREFOR DROVE THE CAR ANOTHER 500 MILES AND RETURNED TO THE DEALER ON 9/21/2020 WHERE THE THE CAR WAS CHECKED IN. AFTER THE CAR WAS CHECKED, THE SERVICE CHECK IN GUY TOLD ME THEY ADDED ANOTHER QUART, AND THAT I NEEDED TO PUT YET ANOTHER "1500 TO 1700" MILES ON THE VEHICLE, THEN RETURN FOR ANOTHER FINAL CHECK, AND IF OIL WAS NEEDED, THEY WOULD (ONCE AGAIN) REPLACE THE ENGINE. I UNDERSTAND FROM THE SERVICE PERSONAL, THAT IF THE ENGINE OIL QUANTITY DROPS TO TWO QUARTS BELOW FULL, THE ENGINE WILL SHUT OFF, AND THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 JEEP CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER THE DRIVER MADE A RIGHT TURN INTO A SHOPPING CENTER, THE DRIVER WAS UNABLE TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL AND THE VEHICLE ABRUPTLY STALLED. THE DRIVER WAS ASSISTED TO MOVE THE VEHICLE OUT OF THE ROADWAY. THE DRIVER DROVE THE VEHICLE TO HOME HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE STALLED FOR THE SECOND TIME. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO BERGERON AUTOMOTIVE DEALER (3525 VETERANS MEMORIAL BOULEVARD, METAIRIE, LA 70002, (504-888-2132). THE DEALER PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST THAT LOCATED THE FAILURE AT THE ENGINE. THE DEALER ADDED ENGINE OIL TO THE ENGINE, AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO BRING THE VEHICLE BACK FOR INSPECTION EVERY THOUSAND MILES TO HAVE THE ENGINE OIL CHECKED AND A NEW OIL FILTER INSTALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,612.

I REPLACED THEM ONCE ALREADY AND ONCE AGAIN I AM HAVING THE SAME ISSUE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AND AT TIMES THE CAR IS SHAKING FROM THE MISFIRING. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT REMAINS ON AT A TIMES. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FLASHES AND THE CAR IS SHAKING THE POWER AND ACCELERATION ARE SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCED WHEN THE SPARK PLUGS ARE ACTIVELY MISFIRING. THIS ONLY OCCURS WITH ACCELERATING AND PRESSING ON GAS PEDAL AND HAPPENS CONSTANTLY WHILE DRIVING. I'VE NEVER HAD TO REPLACE SPARK PLUGS THIS OFTEN THEY USUALLY LAST ATLEAST 100,000 MILES. THERE IS A PROBLEM WHEN THEY BARELY LAST FOR HALF THAT AND REQUIRE REPLACEMENT ATLEAST 2 TIMES BEFORE THEY SHOULD GO BAD. THESE SEEM TO BE A COMMON ISSUE BUT WHEN YOU ASK THE DEALER THEY ACT CLUELESS AND SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE. THESE ARE COSTLY PROBLEMS THAT SHOULD NOT BE OCCURRING OR OCCURRING THIS FREQUENTLY. MY OIL EVAPORATES WHILE DRIVING I HAVE HAD THE CAR CHECKED FOR OIL LEAKS 5 TIMES. THIS VEHICLE ALSO CUTS OFF AND SAY SHIFTER AND I HAVE TO PULL OVER TURN THE VEHICLE OFF LET SIT FOR 5 MINUTES THEN RESTART. I HAVE ALSO HAD TO GET A TUNE UP AT 50000 MILES DUE TO MANUFACTURAL DEFECT ACCORDING TO MY MECHANIC AN ALERT SHOWED THEM WHAT WAS WRONG. I HAVE ALMOST BEEN STRUCK BY OTHER VEHICLES WHILE I AM TRYING TO GET OVER LANES TO PULL ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I COULD NOT USE MY STEERING WHEEL OR BREAKS DURING THIS TIME. I PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK, TURNED THE IGNITION OFF AND FULL TOOK MY KEY OUT. THEN ATTEMPTED TO START IT. I ONLY HEARD A SLIGHT SOUND BUT NO TURN OVER. I REPEATED THIS STEP AND THIS TIME, AFTER MOMENTARILY SPUTTERING, I WAS ABLE TO GIVE THE CAR GAS AND IT STAYED ON. I COULD SMELL OIL AT THIS POINT. IT SEEMS THIS IS RELATED TO EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION, WHICH TRIGGERS THE CAR TO SHUT OFF TO PROTECT THE ENGINE. EXCEPT THE OIL LEVEL IN THE VEHICLE IS FINE AND THERE ARE NO PRIOR WARNINGS BEFORE THIS HAPPENS.

I WAS DRIVING OUR 2017 JEEP CHEROKEE WITH MY FAMILY IN THE VEHICLE, INCLUDING WIFE AND 2 CHILDREN (5 PLUS INFANT). WE WERE TRAVELING ~20 MILES PER HOUR WHEN THE CAR SHUT DOWN. THE CAR WAS STILL MOVING AS WE WERE TRAVELING DOWNHILL, AND WAS IN THE DRIVE GEAR. WE WERE UNABLE TO STOP AS THERE WAS NO WAY TO PULL OFF IMMEDIATELY. THE GAS PEDAL STOPPED WORKING FIRST, THEN THE BRAKE STOPPED WORKING AS WELL. I HAD TO ENGAGE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND JAM MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE TO SLOW THE VEHICLE DOWN. THIS HAS HAPPENED 4 TIMES NOW STARTING IN JAN 21, 2020. STOPPED AT STOP SIGN AND SHUT OFF. TRIED TO RESTART AND WOULD NOT. WAITED ABOUT 3 MINUTES AND IT STARTED. AS I SLOWED DOWN FOR ANOTHER STOP SIGN IT SHUT OFF BUT RESTARTED IMMEDIATELY. AS I SLOWED DOWN FOR ANOTHER STOP SIGN I TURNED RIGHT WITH OUT STOPPING AND THE ENGINE SHUT OFF. ALL THE IDIOT LIGHTS ON DASH CAME ON. BATTERY WAS FULLY FUNCTIONAL. CAR WOULD NOT START FOR 45 MINUTES AND THEN IT FINALLY STARTED.CAR WAS TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG. THEIR ANSWER WAS 'IF WE CAN'T DUPLICATE IT THERE IS NOTHING WE CAN DO. IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN BRING IT IN'. WHAT IS THAT SUPPOSE TOO MEAN? IT HAPPENED AGAIN ON 5-13-20, 5-15-20 AND 5-31-20. ALL THESE TIMES IT WAS WHEN WE ARE DRIVING ALONG AND MAKING A RIGHT TURN. ENGINE JUST SHUTS OFF. ON 5-31-20 I WAS IN A TRAFFIC LANE MAKING A RIGHT TURN WITH OTHER TRAFFIC BEHIND WHEN THE ENGINE SHUT OFF. THE DRIVER BEHIND ME WAS BEEPING HIS HORN FOR ME TO MOVE AS HE HAD NOT KNOWN MY ENGINE SHUT OFF. WOULD HATE TO HAVE THIS HAPPEN IF I WAS ON AN INTERSTATE. JUST HAD THE BATTERY REPLACE UNDER WARRANTY ON 5-28-20. ENGINE OIL GAUGE READ 54% NOT SURE WHAT THE PROBLEM IS BUT SURE DOESN'T SOUND SAFE TO ME. CALLING THE DEALERSHIP TOMORROW TO GET AN APPOINTMENT.

THE VEHICLE CONSUMES ALL OF THE OIL (BONE DRY) BEFORE THE VEHICLE REACHES 3000 MILES AND BEFORE THE NEXT SCHEDULED SERVICE. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWO TIMES. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO SIGNS OF A LEAK. THE VEHICLE STALLS OUT AND TURNS OFF WHILE DRIVING ON THE ROAD WITH NO WARNING (NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OR ANY OTHER WARNING). THIS TIME IT HAPPENED ON 05/26/2020 ON A HIGHWAY WITH A 60MPH SPEED LIMIT. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN. THIS PROBLEM IS FOUND ALL THROUGH OUT INTERNET FORUMS FOR THE 2017 JEEP CHEROKEE AND JEEP HAS FAILED TO PUT OUT A RECALL. THE ISSUE IS KNOWN AND THEY ARE INTENTIONALLY PUTTING THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE AT RISK OF SEVERE INJURY OR DEATH. THE DEALERSHIPS ARE CALLING IT AN, "OVER CONSUMPTION OF OIL." *TR

CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND THE VEHICLE STALLS WHILE DRIVING. DEALERSHIP CLAIMS LOW OIL BETWEEN OIL CHANGES, WE HAVE THE OIL CHANGED REGULARLY AT THE DEALERSHIP AND DO NOT EXCEED THE RECOMMENDED MILEAGE BETWEEN CHANGES. THIS HAS OCCURRED ON MAIN ROADS DURING TIMES OF HIGH TRAFFIC AND HAS PUT MY FAMILY IN DANGER ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THIS STARTED HAPPENING WITH LESS THAN 20,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE AND HAS HAPPENED A TOTAL OF FIVE TIMES NOW. THE VEHICLE NOW HAS 36,000 MILES ON IT AND I'M TIRED OF DEALING WITH THIS ISSUE.
