A sensor, or trio of sensors, in the passenger side airbag system failed. Nissan/Infiniti says they cant be sure which of the three sensors is causing the problem and needs to replace all three. One of the sensors is integrated into the passenger seat itself and therefore the entire seat must be replaced. This all adds up to a very expensive repair cost of over $10,000 for sensors that are not accessible by the user, and therefore failed because of a manufacturer's defect, and not because of wear and tear, or anything caused by the user. Infiniti is unable to tell me how the passenger side airbag will react in the event of an accident, so that leads me to beleive the vehible is possibly unsafe, and a risk to anyone riding in the front passenger's seat. The problem has been inspected and is documented with the Infiniti and the Sewell Dealership in Dallas, Texas. The vehicle has not been inspected by the police or insurance representatives, but rather the Sewell Infiniti Service Center. There is an airbag light flashing on the dashboard. That is what alerted me to the problem and prompted me to take it in for inspection of the issue.

How to use these: a complaint is one owner’s report, filed voluntarily and published unverified. Patterns matter more than any single story. If several owners describe the same failure at similar mileage, put that system at the top of your pre-purchase inspection list. Back to the full 2017 Infiniti QX70 verdict →
