Traffic was traveling at around 55 miles per hour. The car in front had to make a quick stop to avoid hitting a flagger that could not be seen due to the sun. My car that is equipped with Hondas forward collision mitigation system did not respond. I pressed the brakes myself but did not stop in time resulting in an accident. The system does activate randomly while driving and will slam the brakes when no objects are in the path of the vehicle.

While driving on an interstate, I started reducing my speed as I was approaching my exit. Before I could exit, my car automatically came to a complete stop. I was rear ended by a truck that was behind me. There were no vehicles or objects in front of me. 911 was called. The passenger in my car had to be transported to the hospital. My car and the truck had to be towed away. No warning lights appeared. My insurance company will be inspecting the car at the tow shop. Everyone involved safety was put at risk. We are thankful we are alive because this could have been worse.

Driving on the highway with the adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, auto emergency braking and lane keeping assistance engaged the vehicle will occasionally initiate an un-commanded, unreasonably abrupt brake application for seemingly no reason and often with no other vehicles in the vicinity. I've noticed Honda has issued a recall for 2018-19 Accords for this exact anomaly. It only stands to reason that my vehicle is experiencing this same defect as many of these systems are shared with the 2017 Accord. I won't use this feature as is because it seems unpredictably dangerous.

car locked down on roadway and would not respond to accelerator until brake paddle action, as it did not accommodate the transmission B mode drag and falsely detected a pending collision. plus it falsely detects exit lane markings as collisions and engages brake. Also does not factor in gravity in collision avoidance. We have an uphill steep driveway and it will lock down in the driveway to avoid hitting something that the force gravity prevents. for a bit, disabled system and talked with service and then set the distance setting to short, which seems to have improved the issue.

LKAS, ACC AND PRE-COLLISION BRAKING ALL FAIL INTERMITTENTLY. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO TWO SEPARATE DEALERSHIPS FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE FIRST ADVISED ME TO REPLACE THE OPTICAL CAMERA, THE SECOND ADVISED ME TO REPLACE THE MICROWAVE RADAR, BUT NEITHER WOULD AFFIRM THAT THE REPLACEMENT PART WOULD ELIMINATE THE INTERMITTENT FAILURES. WHEN THE SYSTEM FAILS, ALL ASSOCIATED SAFETY FEATURES AS WELL AS CRUISE CONTROL ARE DISABLED FOR THE DURATION OF THAT TRIP.

How to use these: a complaint is one owner’s report, filed voluntarily and published unverified. Patterns matter more than any single story. If several owners describe the same failure at similar mileage, put that system at the top of your pre-purchase inspection list. Back to the full 2017 Honda Accord verdict →
