I am writing to formally raise a serious safety concern regarding a known and recurring defect in the infotainment/head unit system of my 2017 Honda Accord. Like many other Honda owners, I am experiencing unpredictable and extremely loud static or popping sounds through the speakers, which occur without warning while the vehicle is in operation. This issue significantly compromises vehicle safety. The sudden, blaring static drowns out critical audio alerts such as collision warnings, lane departure signals, and other safety-related notifications, placing me and others at increased risk while driving. Upon bringing this issue to a certified Honda dealership, I was informed that the head unit cannot be disconnected, as it is integrated with the vehicle’s essential safety features. In other words, I am forced to choose between enduring a hazardous and disruptive audio malfunction or disabling key safety systems entirely—an unacceptable situation for any driver, particularly in a vehicle marketed as reliable and safe. Furthermore, I was advised that the only known solution is a full replacement of the head unit, which comes at a cost of approximately $1,800 out of pocket. It is deeply concerning that Honda is expecting customers to bear the cost of repairing a defect that is both widespread and clearly rooted in manufacturing or design flaws. Given the scope and severity of this issue, I urge Honda to take immediate and responsible action by issuing a recall or providing an extended warranty repair for all affected vehicles. I am requesting a formal response regarding how Honda plans to resolve this matter in my case and ensure the safety of its customers moving forward.

ON [XXX] my car while driving suddenly reported ABS brake system failure, together with that other warnings flashed Adaptive cruise, PS System (EPS) failure etc. With difficulty I was able to stop the car and pull over. Same day I called Honda service HQ and lodged a complaint Case number [XXX]. The car has 57,478 miles and is properly maintained. Honda suggested that I drive the car over to a dealership. I CAN ONLY SEE THE DIRECTIONAL LINES ON THE SCREEN WHEN IN REVERSE THAT CHANGE COLOR AND APPEARS TO WORK IF I AM OUT OF THE PARKING LINES AND THE SCREEN IS BLACK. EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE THE CAMERA WILL FLASH AN IMAGE FOR A NANOSECOND ON THE SCREEN BEFORE GOING BLACK. I HAVE GONE TO HONDA REGARDING THIS BUT THEY WON'T DO ANYTHING BECAUSE MY VIN IS A 2017. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE SINCE I AM UNABLE TO SEE WHEN BACKING OUT. PLEASE CONSIDER EXTENDING THIS RECALL TO INCLUDE THE 2017 HONDA ACCORDS. I AM SURE I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS ISSUE.

There is a A/C Condenser Leak on the 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid similar to the ones that happened on the Honda Civics of this time period. The Honda Civics got extended warranties for the Condenser Leaks, but the Honda Accords did not. Please add the Honda Accords from 2017 and the 2017 Honda Accord Hybrids to the Recall List needing Extended Warranties and Technical Service Bulletins on the Leaks in the A/C Condensers that Honda should cover, extend the Warranty and fix. While driving my 2017 Honda Accord, I suddenly lost the ability to accelerate when pressing the gas pedal entering the freeway. At the same time, the check engine light flashed along with multiple other warning lights, which caused the car to go into limp mode. This put my safety at risk, as I was unable to speed up in traffic, creating a dangerous situation. Same situation occurred the next day - narrowly avoiding the accident. The car is not safe to drive. Honda dealership determined issue was due to a fuel injector failure, on a very well-maintained vehicle it seems strange for this issue to come up. I believe this issue is directly related to the faulty fuel pump which is being recalled for many 2017-2018 ACCORDs as the defective fuel pump caused excessive strain on the fuel injectors over time, it could explain why so many owners, including myself, are experiencing premature failures. Given the safety risks involved and the growing number of similar reports, I urge NHTSA to investigate this issue and hold Honda accountable for addressing the problem and cover the cost of the injection repairs

Radio emits loud static, on or off. Sometimes starts low and builds to high volume, sometimes full blast without warning. Cannot be silenced without stopping car and turning off. Dangerous especially in traffic. Honda defect reporting phone line acted as if they never heard such a thing, same from the service manager where the car was purchased new. Different honda dealer service manager said same. I told him online forums were loaded with reports just like mine. I asked him to take out his phone and search 2017 honda accord radio static....he said yeah I guess there alot of reports of this issue. I made one last at my original dealership to see if there was a recall in the works for the defective radio head. New from honda 2300 dollars just for the part. Definitely a safety Hazzard from a defective part. Problem is so pervasive multiple repair services have sprung up for this series of radios. All told cost me 500 dollars to do myself. Radio head has many functions including back up camera which is gone with fuse pulled. Honda lied to me when they acted as if they never heard of such failures. Last service manager admitted we change a couple of these radio heads a week.

Driver door and driver side rear door lock actuators both failed very untimely. Car has 55,000 miles on it and is garage kept and accident free. I needed to replace both components as the doors would not lock or unlock and posed an extreme safety hazard. Also the alternator needed to be replaced very untimely making me feel as though there are further electrical issues with this vehicle. I contacted Honda and have not received a response in over two weeks.

The vehicle sometimes is stalled during the red light stop. Both engine fuel light and battery light will come up. After several attempt to restart the engine, it will run again. I know there was fuel pump recall on 2017 Accord, but it's not on my sport model. So, I think it might be affect to my car too.

On Sunday, March 30th, while driving on the highway, the car jerked and a hard vibration was felt before the engine died. The orange engine light flashed two or three times on the instrument panel but that was it. The owners manual states that a flashing orange engine light indicates a misfire. No other lights prior to that moment had illuminated on the instrument panel. The car is a 2017 Accord Sport with approximately 101k miles. Purchased in November 2021, this is the first time there’s ever been a problem and my car is maintained regularly. The car was towed to a local mechanic and I was told there was a misfire on cylinder 3, the valve spring is broken, the valve is bent, and the timing chain is loose. I was told I need a new engine. I don’t understand what happened because there was no warning or indication that anything was wrong. The safety concern is that the car died while driving on the highway and the vibration and jerking was scary trying to control the car while traveling at high speeds. I called Honda directly and I was told that my vin isn’t included in any recalls so there’s nothing they can do to help. I know there was a service bulletin in 2019 for the cam chain tensioner but I don’t know if this car was serviced since I bought it in 2021. I can’t afford to replace the engine and I’m still making payments. My VIN isn’t included with the fuel pump or oil pump recalls despite now including the L4 2.0 engines. This is my third Honda and I’ve never had anything like this happen before. The customer service rep said there was nothing they could do to help after confirming that my vin wasn’t included in any of the recalls. I had the car towed to a Honda dealership earlier this week for a deeper look into how and why this happened and the tech said the engine suffered a catastrophic failure. He also stated that he’s never seen anything like this before - referring to the broken valve spring. Valve springs are not wear and tear items.

I had the radio replaced under warranty but the problem was never solved and only gave a 90day warranty on a refurbished unit. I complained about the refurbished unit and they refused to put a new unit under the waranty. Honda has known about the radio issue creating a very loud static pulsating noise thats unbearable and distracting while driving causing distraction and you would not even be able to hear an emergency vehicle or anything near you while this noise is pulsating at a very high decibels. This problem is all over the internet with people having issues with the very loud noise being distracting and unbearable. Seems this only happens on the hybrid touring model. There is a serious problem with this being a safety issue being very distracting and unbearable. I also get a noise warning exceeding the normal decibels required. I believe the radio is over heating and also might cause a fire in the dash.

The first instance occurred 04 Apr 2018, where while driving the car shutoff; I was able to coast to shoulder of road. After a brief amount of time I was able to restart, but it occurred again while heading to dealer location. The dealer blamed the malfunction on bad gas and could not replicate. (see R.O. 767659). 2nd occurrence was 25 May 2018 again. I was in an traffic light intersection and was able to coast through and get to side of road. Called dealer and their recommendation was to have car towed to dealership. They finally agreed there was a serious problem and replaced fuel pump assy. see (R.O. 773135 attached). I recvd 1st recall notice 20 Mar 2024 (parts unavail). I recvd 2nd recall notice Oct 2024. On visit to dealer they stated no repairs will be done unless symptoms occur. Since then I have been hesitant to drive car any distance. This situation could have deadly consequences if it occurs during high speed traffic. Only indicator inside car is "check engine" light. Honda has refuse to take action (been 6 months!) I tried to impress upon them I've experienced this scary situation already and it concerns me when I drive this car.

I am writing to bring to your attention a serious safety issue I have experienced with my 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid Touring, which has 58,757 miles on it and has been diligently maintained with all scheduled services up to date by Honda dealership. On March 18, 2025, I reported a brake fluid leak originating from underneath the brake pedal inside the cabin. Upon taking the vehicle to an authorized Honda dealership for inspection, I was informed that the root cause is a faulty brake booster Simulator. What is particularly concerning is that there was no warning light, alert, or indication of this issue prior to the visible brake fluid leak. The only reason this dangerous condition was discovered was due to visibly seeing brake fluid inside the vehicle cabin. This issue has been reported to Honda customer service center, however their focus was only not vehicle millage being out warranty without offering any root cause or resolution. Honda dealership stated that this very uniqe they haven't face this type failure.

The vehicle failed to restart and was towed to the local Pep Boys, where it was diagnosed and determined that the engine had failed. The vehicle was not repaired. An unknown dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in a related recall. The dealer informed the contact that the engine needed to be replaced, at the owner’s expense. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure.
