WHILE UNDER BRISK OR HEAVY ACCELERATION, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATES AND THE ENGINE LOSES POWER, AND THE THROTTLE BECOMES TOTALLY UNRESPONSIVE. IT CAN HAPPEN ANYWHERE. THE BIKE HAS TO BE COMPLETELY SHUT OFF, AND ONCE RESTARTED IS RUNS FINE. THIS WAS VERY DANGEROUS AS I WAS ON A FREEWAY UNDER CONSTRUCTION AND THERE WAS NO SHOULDER FOR ME TO PULL OFF ONTO. I COULD HAVE EASILY BEEN STRUCK BY A VEHICLE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THIS HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES IN A MONTH.

How to use these: a complaint is one owner’s report, filed voluntarily and published unverified. Patterns matter more than any single story. If several owners describe the same failure at similar mileage, put that system at the top of your pre-purchase inspection list. Back to the full 2017 BMW S1000 Rr verdict →
