I TOOK MY TRUCK INTO A DEALER BECAUSE THE EXHAUST SYSTEM WOULDN'T CLEAN ITSELF. I FOUND OUT THERE WERE RECALLS PERTAINING TO THIS AND THEY WERE HANDLED AS FAR AS I KNEW. HOWEVER, JUST A FEW WEEKS LATER AS I WAS PULLING INTO MY DRIVEWAY AT HOME I NOTICED SMOKE BARRELING OUT FROM UNDER THE HOOD. I IMEDIATELY TRIED TO SHUT IT OFF AND WHEN I DID IT WOULD REV UP HIGHER INSTEAD OF SHUTTING OFF. I GOT IT TO SHUT OFF FINALLY AND LEFT IT SITTING THERE OVERNIGHT UNTIL I COULD GET A TOW TRUCK TO TAKE IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP, WHERE I WAS INFORMED THAT THIS PROBLEM IS NOW SO COMMON THAT THE PART IS ON BACK ORDER AND NO IDEA OF WHEN THEY WILL BE ABLE TO GET IT. THIS 2016 3.0L ECO DIESEL IS A DEATH TRAP AFTER FCA REPROGRAMED THE SOFTWARE 2 MONTHS AGO. 2-4 SECOND HESITATION WHEN YOU PRESS ON THE GAS. THE TRUCK JUST SITS THERE AND DOES NOT MOVE. IN TWO MONTHS I HAVE HAD 3 CLOSE CALLS PULLING INTO TRAFFIC. EXTREMELY SCARY WHEN YOU HIT THE GAS AND NOTHING HAPPENS AND A CAR IS COMING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT YOU AT 55 MPH AND YOU'RE SECONDS FROM GETTING T-BONED. IT'S JUST A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE PEOPLE START DYING IN THIS DEATH TRAP. THE DIESEL HAD MANY PROBLEMS BEFORE THEY REPROGRAMED IT. SINCE NEW THE TRUCK HAS GONE INTO LIMP MODE 4 TIMES WHERE THE ENGINE LIGHTS COME ON AND THE MOTOR SHUTS DOWN TO ABOUT 10 MPG. LAST TIME I ALMOST GOT KILLED ON THE FREEWAY WHEN THIS HAPPENED. YOU'RE STUCK ON THE HIGHWAY GOING 5-10 MPH TRYING TO GET OFF THE HIGHWAY WHEN CARS ARE FLYING PAST YOU AT 70 MPH. THESE 3.0L DODGE ECO DIESELS ARE VERY, VERY, VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. AFTER THE REPROGRAMING FROM FCA THEY HAVE A VERY DANGEROUS TURBO LAG TIME. FCA HAS DONE NOTHING TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEM. THE REPROGRAMING OF THE SOFTWARE MADE THEM WORSE AND MORE DANGEROUS. BECAUSE OF THE WAY THEY DESIGNED THIS ECO DIESEL, IT IS PRONE TO CATCH FIRE. ON MY TRUCK I HAD A FIRE UNDER THE HOOD AND A HOLE MELTED THROUGH THE INTAKE MANIFOLD. LUCKILY, THE TRUCK DID NOT BURST INTO FLAMES BUT IT WAS IN THE DEALERSHIP FOR ALMOST 3 WEEKS BEING REPAIRED. THIS TRUCK IS VERY DANGEROUS AND THE TRUCK NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AND IF FCA CAN'T FIX THEM, THEY NEED TO BUY THEM BACK AND GET THESE DEATH TRAPS OFF THE ROAD. SORRY, I CAN'T DESCRIBE JUST A SINGLE SPECIFIC INSTANCE, IT'S DANGEROUS EVERY TIME YOU GET BEHIND THE WHEEL. DRIVING HOME FROM WORK 22 AUGUST 2019, AN 8 MILE DRIVE. I WENT TO ACCELERATE TO REACH POSTED SPEED LIMIT AFTER TURNING OFF OF A SIDE STREET ONTO MAIN ROAD. I HAD NO FORWARD MOMENTUM WHEN I DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. I ATTEMPTED SEVERAL TIMES TO MANUALLY SHIFT GEARS THINKING IT WAS A TRANSMISSION ISSUE. THE ENGINE WOULD REV UP TO RPM BUT STILL BARELY ANY FORWARD MOMENTUM. I WAS LOSING SPEED QUICKLY. SOMETHING GRABBED MY ATTENTION, NOT SURE IF I HEARD SOMETHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY BUT I HAPPENED TO LOOK OUT MY REVIEW AND SIDE MIRRORS AND NOTICE A HUGE PLUME OF SMOKE EXITING MY VEHICLE. AT ABOUT THAT SAME MOMENT, I NOTICED A LOW OIL PRESSURE LIGHT FROM THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED INTO A DRIVEWAY AND SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF. ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS OFF, I STILL NOTICED A LARGE AMOUNT OF WHITE SMOKE BILLOWING FROM UNDER THE HOOD AND FRONT WHEEL WELLS. AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT TO BE A COOLANT HOSE RUPTURE DUE TO THE COLOR OF THE SMOKE/STEAM. I IMMEDIATELY JUMPED OUT AND OPENED THE HOOD THINKING IT WAS A COOLANT ISSUE. RIGHT AWAY I NOTICED A FLAME AT THE REAR OF THE ENGINE. I HAD NO ACCESS TO WATER WHERE I WAS LOCATED AND MY ONLY OPTION WAS TO BLOW IT OUT. IT WORKED FOR ME BUT PROBABLY ONLY BECAUSE I HAD GOT TO THE FIRE BEFORE IT WAS ABLE TO SPREAD TOO QUICK. I HAVE A 2016 RAM 1500 SLT QUAD CAB. 5.7 LITER HEMI AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ROTORS DIAL SHIFTER. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHEN PUT IN PARK VEHICLE WAS STILL IN REVERSE. HAVE MENTIONED IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THE LAST 2 OIL CHANGES. THEY JUST IGNORED IT. YESTERDAY 9/3/2018 WENT OUT TO MOVE THE TRUCK. PUT IT IN DRIVE, SELECTOR SHOWED DRIVE AND TRUCK WENT IN REVERSE WHEN I GAVE IT GAS. THIS CAUSED ME TO HIT MY SPRINTER VAN DOING DAMAGE TO BOTH VEHICLES. NOW I'M LEERY OF DRIVING IT. MY WIFE, DOG AND I PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT OF A COUNTERTOP SUPPLY STORE. IT WAS APPROXIMATELY 80 DEGREASE OUTSIDE SO I ROLLED DOWN THE WINDOWS TO HALF AND LEFT THE TRUCK RUNNING IN PARK TO KEEP THE A/C ON FOR THE DOG. IN THIS PARKING LOT WE WERE THE ONLY VEHICLE PARKED NEAR BY AND THERE WAS NO PARKING BLOCK IN FRONT OF THE TRUCK. WE WERE IN THE STORE APPROXIMATELY 20 MIN LOOKING FOR A COUNTERTOP THEN WENT TO SIT DOWN WITH THE SALES SPECIALIST. ABOUT 5 MIN INTO THAT CONVERSATION THE SECRETARY IN THE FRONT YELLED "YOUR TRUCK IS DRIVING OFF". I IMMEDIATELY RAN OUT THE DOOR TO FIND MY TRUCK ABOUT 25 YARDS AWAY AND ACROSS THE MAIN ROAD. THE ROAD DID NOT HAVE CURBS BUT DID HAVE STEEP CULVERTS ON BOTH SIDES (NOTE: I WOULD NOT THINK A TRUCK AT IDLE WOULD MAKE IT UP TO THE ROAD) THE TRUCK "TOOK OFF" PER 3 WORKERS THAT WERE NEAR BY IN THE LOT MOVING A LARGE SLAB OF GRANITE, AND A SIMI DRIVER WAS DRIVING ON THE ROAD STATING THAT BOTH MY RAM AND HIS TRACTOR HIT TIRES AND THAT'S WHAT GOT MY TRUCK TO STOP. EVERYONE THAT WITNESSED THIS STATED THE DOG WAS IN THE BACK SEAT AND NO ONE GOT OUT OF THE VEHICLE. AS I APPROACHED THE TRUCK IT SOUNDED TO BE RUNNING AT IDLE AND WHEN I GRABBED THE DOOR HANDLE THE LOCKS UNLOCKED AS NORMAL. I FOUND THE TRUCK IN DRIVE AND RPM AT NORMAL IDLE RANGE. THE TRUCK ALLOWED ME TO PUT IT BACK IN PARK. I THEN RESTARTED THE TRUCK, MOVED IT BACK TO THE PARKING LOT. THE BUSINESS HAS SECURITY CAMERA FOOTAGE OF THIS SHOWING HOW MY TRUCK UN TAMPERED WITH WENT FROM IDLE AND PARK FOR 25ISH MIN TO DRIVING ACROSS THE ROAD AND I AM CURRENTLY PERUSING A COPY OF THE TAPE. DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND I WAS TOLD TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT LATE NEXT WEEK (EARLIEST AVAILABLE) FOR AN INSPECTION, AND UNTIL THEN TO SET THE PARKING BRAKE EVERY TIME. I RAN AROUND THE TRUCK AND APPLIED THE BRAKES,IT WAS IN PARK.WE CONTACTED FIAT CHRYSLER, THEY SENT ME A PAPER TO SIGN ALLOWING THEM TO GET INFORMATION FROM THE ORC IN THE VEHICLE, WHICH I ALLOWED.ON FRIDAY JULY 20TH WE MET WITH AN INSPECTOR AND HE HOOKED UP COMPUTERS TO THE TRUCK TO GET THE INFORMATION STATING HE SENDS REPORT TO FCA AND THEY WOULD NOTIFY US.WE GOT A LETTER YESTERDAY JULY 27TH BASICALLY STATING PER OUR OWNERS MANUAL WE SHOULD ALWAYS USE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND DECLINED ANY RESPONSIBILITY. NEVER STATED OR SHARED WHAT THE OCR RESULTS SHOWED.THIS COULD HAVE KILLED SOMEONE AND THE ROTARY SHIFTER IS A PROBLEM.A FEW DAYS AFTER THE INCIDENT WHILE DRIVING ON A BEAUTIFUL SUNNY DAY THE WIPERS START UP FULL BOAR LIKE IT WAS POURING OUT.THEY WERE IN THE OFF POSITION. TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2016 RAM 1500. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, IT BEGAN TO ROLL AWAY AND CRASHED INTO A TREE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE KNOB SHIFTER WAS IN THE PARK POSITION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A COLLISION CENTER. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. TURNERSVILLE JEEP CHRYSLER DODGE RAM (3100 NJ-42, SICKLERVILLE, NJ 08081) STATED THAT AN INVESTIGATOR WOULD BE ASSIGNED TO THE CASE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 19,000.

PLACED VEHICLE IN PARK AS IT SAT IN PARKING SPACE BESIDE THE GARAGE, WITH DRIVERS SIDE DOOR CLOSE TO EXTERIOR WALL. VEHICLE WAS RUNNING AT THE TIME. I WAS EXITING VEHICAL WHEN IT BEGAN TO MOVE FORWARD. RESULTING IN MY RIGHT LEG BEING TRAPPED WITHIN THE DOOR AS THE TRUCK DOOR HIT THE WALL OF THE GARAGE. I WAS THEN DRAGGED AND CRUSHED BETWEEN THE VEHICLE AND EXTERIOR WALL OF GARAGE, UNTIL MY BODY CLEARED THE END OF THE GARAGE AND I WAS RELEASED. UPON INSPECTING THE VEHICLE I FOUND THE TRANSMISSION WAS IN DRIVE INSTEAD OF PARK WHERE I HAD LEFT IT.

THE TRUCK WAS PUT INTO PARK WITH THE KEY IN THE IGNITION AND THE ENGINE RUNNING. IT WAS PARKED IN A RESTAURANT PARKING LOT. THEN AROUND FIVE MINUTES LATER, IT WENT INTO REVERSE AND BEGAN ROLLING BACKWARDS. IT SEEMED TO ACCELERATE. I HAD TO JUMP IN AND SLAM ON THE BRAKE TO STOP IT. I DO NOT KNOW HOW THIS COULD OCCUR, BUT HAVE RECENTLY LEARNED OF RECALLS FOR SIMILAR SITUATION WITH THE TRUCK IN THE PARKED POSITION, BUT GOING INTO GEAR. OUR VIN WAS NOT RECALLED. THERE WERE WITNESSES TO THIS EVENT.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 RAM 1500. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IDLING AND THE GEAR SHIFTER WAS PLACED IN PARK, THE CONTACT WALKED AWAY FROM THE VEHICLE. SUDDENLY, THE VEHICLE INADVERTENTLY ROLLED BACK IN REVERSE. THE CONTACT PROCEEDED TO THE DRIVER'S SIDE TO STOP THE VEHICLE; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO ANOTHER PARKED VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS SMASHED IN BETWEEN THE LAMP POST AND ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE LEGS THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TOW YARD. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT PREVIOUSLY, THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED ABNORMAL DYSFUNCTION. WHILE THE GEAR SHIFTER WAS PLACED IN REVERSE, THE BACK UP CAMERA WOULD REMAIN ON THE DRIVE SCREEN. THE CONTACT THEN STATED THAT ALL FOUR DOOR LOCKS WOULD LOCK THEN UNLOCK WITHOUT WARNING. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, THE VEHICLE MADE A BEEPING NOISE. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

WE HAVE THE KNOB SHIFTER AND WHEN HE STOPPED HE PUT IT IN PARK (LEFT ENGINE RUNNING) HE WALKED BEHIND TRUCK AND INTO STORE AND PICKED OUT WHAT HE NEEDED AND THEN WHILE HE WAS PAYING THE TELLER NOTICED HIS TRUCKED STARTED MOVING IN REVERSE SO MY SON RAN OUT TO GET IN TRUCK TO STOP IT BUT WAS TO LATE IT HIS A POLE WHICH AND SHATTERED THE WINDOW OF GAS STATION, I REPORTED IT TO FCA AND THEY INSPECTED IT AND SAID NO PROBLEM BUT I HAVE VIDEO AND WITNESS THAT STATES IT WAS A COUPLE MINUTES BEFORE IT STARTED MOVING. I HAVE CALLED MR. KON (FCA) 586-274-8162 BUT HE HAS NOT RETURNED ANY OF MY CALL WHICH LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THEY ARE HIDING SOMETHING. I DID DO SOME RESEARCH AND NOTICED THIS IS A PROBLEM

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 RAM 1500. AFTER THE CONTACT'S WIFE PARKED THE VEHICLE, IT ROLLED OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY AND CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE PARKED INSIDE THE NEIGHBOR'S GARAGE. PRIOR TO THE FAILURE, THE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK AND THE KEY WAS IN THE IGNITION WHILE THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING. THE CONTACT'S SPOUSE INJURED HER RIGHT WRIST AND LEFT KNEE WHILE ATTEMPTING TO STOP THE VEHICLE. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS RECEIVED. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEMONTROND CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (888 INTERSTATE 45 S, CONROE, TX 77304 (281) 528-1700) AND WAS AWAITING A DIAGNOSIS. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY WOULD SEND INVESTIGATORS TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 17,837.
