The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle jerked with an abnormal sound coming from the vehicle. The contact stopped the vehicle, and there was an unknown warning light illuminated. The vehicle was turned off and restarted; however, while driving, the failure reoccurred with several unknown warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a private dealer, where it was diagnosed with ABS control module failure. The dealer informed the contact that the part to do the repair was not available. The vehicle remained with the dealer unrepaired. The contact related the failure to NHTS Campaign number: 22V426000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 77,000.

The ABS module for this vehicle has been on national back order for over 2 years. Numerous vehicles are involved. With the malfunction, ABS does not perform as intended and creates a safety hazard. In addition other functions are rendered inoperable such as cruise control, hill start, etc. There is no remedy for the defect and manufacturer seems unable to offer a solution

The ABS module failed 18 months ago. Jeep has been telling me that it's on back order this whole time with no ETA. In the meantime it will not pass inspection and I have no antilock brakes.

The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving on wet roads, the vehicle lost traction, failed to accelerate as intended, and caused the tires to spin before accelerating. While depressing the brake pedal, the wheels locked up, and the vehicle failed to come to a gradual stop. The ABS control module displayed DTC: C2200 (Internal ABS Module Failure). The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who confirmed the fault code. The vehicle was not repaired because the Part Number 68259556AD was on back order. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the part was still under engineering review, and that a remedy had not yet been found. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.

The ABS Module (Part 68259556AD) on my 2016 Jeep Wrangler began failing about two years ago. When the ABS warning light turns on, both the ABS and traction-control systems stop functioning, creating a serious safety hazard: greatly increased stopping distance, reduced steering control under braking, and higher risk of loss of control on wet or slippery roads. The warnings, once intermittent, are now continuously illuminated, meaning the vehicle has no working ABS or traction control at any time. Performance Jeep of Somerville (Somerville, NJ) inspected the vehicle around September 2023 and confirmed the ABS module had failed. They also confirmed the replacement part was unavailable, with no estimate from Jeep on when it would be supplied, and suggested a possible upcoming national recall—none has been issued. The ABS module has now been on national backorder for roughly two years. Jeep’s parts division states the part is still “supported” but on “heavy backorder.” Jeep/Stellantis corporate opened a case, promised to “fast track” it, and later reported supplier “tooling/manufacturing” issues, offering no timeline for availability despite repeated follow-ups. Please note that Performance Jeep has informed me that they have several aging orders in for the ABS Module (Part 68259556AD) that they're unable to fulfill, so it would appear that on a national basis, there must be many Jeep owners such as myself who are experiencing this problem with no remedy in sight. Because the part cannot be obtained, the vehicle cannot be safely driven or repaired. This is a safety-critical defect with long-term parts unavailability. I am requesting NHTSA review and intervention, as the manufacturer has been unable to supply a federally required safety component, leaving the vehicle in an unsafe condition with no remedy.

I have been waiting on a replacement ABS module for months , was told I could continue to drive the jeep by a jeep dealership, the part is on back order and no plans to put in productions; my shop can see that there is ove500 people waiting on this part that effects the operation of the Safety features designed on 11/29 my jeep would stopped abruptly in traffic and would not go forward or reverse just stuck - lucky i was not hit in the rear or causing a major accident, after turning on /off i was able to go 100 yards to get it out of traffic, and needed a tow . sitting at dealership - jeep payment , no jeep and no answers - along with many other people driving jeeps on the road today . -this may of caused other issues to my jeep as well.

My ABS Control module has failed. The Jeep has been in the shop now for 75 days with no MOPAR part delivery known as of 11/28/25. I have had 4 ABS wheel sensors go bad and not the module is bad. The vehicle surges, will not accelerate, etc.

ABS module started to fail about a year ago but was only recently identified (within the last two weeks). ABS module listed for back order with more than 500 orders ahead of mine within Jeep dealership system. Order placed outside of dealership via Mopar website but listed as shipping next month (16-28 December).

The ABS Module has failed causing the stabiltrak , brake light , and ABS lights to come on the dash. We took it to the dealer and evidently this is a common issue with the jeep wranglers and dodge rams.. So much that the part is back ordered and there is no eta. Some people have been waiting over a year. They say it’s under engineering review. Anyway My Wife was driving the other day and someone had pulled out in front of her and she hit the brakes real hard and it made a weird noise and the brakes locked up. Almost causing her to swerve and lose control. I have the service report that says ABS module and backed ordered with no eta.. I have heard other peoples jeeps just going over to broke mode and can only drive 30 mph. It’s crazy? What are we the consumer supposed to do. Can’t afford to trade it in for another vehicle. But need a vehicle for work or keep driving it and hope brakes or something else doesn’t fail when you need it… Thank You

My ABS module has been out/faulty for more than two years. I have been unable to get a repair/replacement part due to national back orders. Chrysler has been no help at all. I believe this is a safety issue that Chrysler isnt taking serious.

The abs module has gone bad at less then 70,000 miles the dealership confirmed this. There are lights advising of the abs and traction control light on and I no longer have anti lock breaks or traction control.

our Abs control module is firing out an internal error code. Mopar has the unit on back order. It has been on back order for more than a year. To get a used one costs 5 times more than a new one. This is a huge problem for people when it comes to safe driving.

My 2016 Jeep Wrangler is displaying warning lights (Brake, ABS, Traction Control) on the dashboard. I took it to my Jeep dealership where they diagnosed the issue as an inoperative ABS Module part number 68259556AD. They placed it on order but it was back ordered with no available delivery date. My Jeep is now not able to be driven.

Jeep Wrangler Unlimited ABS, Brake, & Traction Control warning lights all came on at once while driving. Once jeep stopped vehicle went into limp mode limiting power and MPH to less than 30 MPH. Which is a huge safety problem when all the roads to and from out house are 45 MPH. ABS Module is bad per the dealer. Vehicle is VOR in the system, and undriveable. No estimate when a new part will arrive.

The jeep has an ABS module that went bad. I have been waiting months- perhaps over a year, and there is still no estimate on the part coming in. It is an essential part, one with no generic replacement. It is illegal for jeep to just leave all of us hanging.

In February of 2024, my ABS, traction control and brake warning lights came on. This disables the ABS, traction control and cruise control. After scanning the vehicle for codes, there is a C2200 internal fault for the ABS control module. Making sure it is not a sensor issue, I tested all four wheels and all check out fine. Looking up the C2200, I would need to replace the module. The problem is, the module has been on national backorder since December 2023 with no end in sight. My only option is to either send that module out to a company and pay $450 plus shipping to have it rebuilt or to pay upwards of $1400 for it on eBay. Even then, it may not be a genuine or new part. I have a vehicle with a safety feature that failed and another 2016 Jeep Wrangler that is starting to show similar symptoms. Stellantis / Mopar is of zero help and will not tell me when or if the part will be available.

The anti lock brake module is not signaling correctly, causing the car to lose power for a second every few minutes, braking is more difficult, and there is no traction on slippery surfaces. The cruise control also is not working, and the brake, ABS and traction warning lights flash every few minutes while operating. It was in the shop for a month waiting on the new module, and it is back ordered with no estimated date for shipping. My vehicle is under warranty and I’m not able to go outside the terms to get it fixed, and Mopar is not making any effort to provide a solution. The dealership even said they had another that had been sitting in their shop for over a year with the same problem. The car is drivable but only until the system goes completely, which will be when it goes into emergency limp mode at a random time while driving, so driving it means taking on that risk.

ABS control module cannot get the part so i would think this would be a safety issue because abs is not working. I know alot of other people who have a jeep have the same proplem my part has been on back order for 4 months now. So I'm concerned about not having ABS thank you

ABS control module malfunction. Replacement part not available from dealership or 3rd party supplier, with item on continuous backorder. ABS and Traction control lights permanently on whilst engine running. Potential safety concern across model nationwide?

The ABS module has quit working and Stellantis and our local Jeep Dealership keeps saying the part is back ordered or under Engineering review and this has been going on for 2 years. With the ABS module not working some of the vehicles systems do not work as designed. Obviously the ABS system is deactivated. The module also controls the cruise control, anti hill assist and there is noticeable difference of how the automatic transmission shifts and at what RPM it shifts. Since the module has been declared and not available and appears there is no replacement available from Stellantis and Jeep this leave me with a vehicle that parts have failed that are important and designed for the vehicle safe operation and not recourse available to me or other others of Jeep Wranglers with similar or worse problems. Stellantis and Jeep need to come up with an alternate ABS Module or a fix to the modules on my vehicle.

The ABS Control Module has failed (part number 68259556AD). I have discovered it has been unavailable from Chrysler/Jeep for over 2 years. I read where this is a dispute between Chrysler/Jeep and their supplier of the part. I feel it dangerous not to have my ABS system, and it seems the manufacturer is doing nothing to make the part available. This needs to change.

ABS control module failure. The part is discontinued and no longer available. This makes my vehicle unsafe to drive for myself and others on the road. Thus, being unsafe to drive makes he vehicle useless!

How to use these: a complaint is one owner’s report, filed voluntarily and published unverified. Patterns matter more than any single story. If several owners describe the same failure at similar mileage, put that system at the top of your pre-purchase inspection list. Back to the full 2016 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rhd verdict →
