Rear view camera either goes out or is upside down. Went out so hit something. Luckily no real damage. Went to dealer and they said it’s not part of recall

I was not made aware of the recall. The driveshaft separated while I was driving, causing significant damage to other parts of the vehicle, including the transmission, motor and transmission mount, cooling, electrical and brake and transmission lines, oil and fuel parts, and much more underneath the van. This happened after a very brief hard vibration moments before it “exploded” and sent me flying into the air and coming to a very quick stop, which also caused medical issues. Ford is refusing to repair all that their recalled part damaged claiming they “notified me” but I haven’t received such notice. I stay up on all maintenance and repairs for my van, and the dealership acknowledged that when looking at the vehicle history reports.

WHEN I COLLIDED WITH A FORD TRUCK ALL MY AIR BAGS DEPLOYED AS THEY SHOULD, I COULD NOT MOVE WITHOUT INTENSE PAIN IN MY LOWER BACK SO I SAT IN PLACE UNTIL REMOVED BY EMS. AFTER PARTIAL RECOVERY I EXAMINED THE VEHICLE AND SAW THAT THE SEAT BELT ANCHOR BOLT OVER MY SHOULDER HAD BULLED OUT OF THE PILLAR BEHIND MY SEAT (NOT THE FLOOR). I WAS ON A CITY STREET MOVING AT ABOUT 45 MPH. A TRUCK TURNED IN FRONT OF ME AND WE COLLIDED HEAD TO HEAD. DAMAGE ON MY VEHICLE WAS PRIMARILY ON THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE.

AFTER ARRIVING HOME IN OUR 2016 FORD TRANSIT VAN, WE PARKED IN OUR DRIVEWAY AND PLACED THE TRANSMISSION INTO THE PARK POSITION AND SET THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. OUR FAMILY OPENED THE DOORS AND PROCEEDED TO EXIT THE VEHICLE. OUR FOUR YEAR OLD SON, HOWEVER, HAD UNBUCKLED AND TWISTED AROUND IN HIS SEAT SUCH THAT HE BECAME TRAPPED IN HIS SEAT BELT. THE MORE HE STRUGGLED TO GET FREE THE MORE IT RATCHETED TIGHT... TO THE POINT THAT HE COULDN'T BREATH. DESPITE US TRYING EVERYTHING TO FREE HIM, THE SEAT BELT WOULD NOT RELEASE HIM. FEARING THAT HE WAS IN REAL MEDICAL DANGER, I CUT HIM FREE THEREBY RENDERING THAT SEAT BELT UNUSABLE. I AM CONCERNED THAT THE SEAT BELTS ARE DEFECTIVE IN THAT THEY FAILED TO RELEASE PROPERLY WHEN THE VAN WAS PLACED IN PARK AND THE DOORS WERE OPENED.

How to use these: a complaint is one owner’s report, filed voluntarily and published unverified. Patterns matter more than any single story. If several owners describe the same failure at similar mileage, put that system at the top of your pre-purchase inspection list. Back to the full 2016 Ford Transit Van Bev verdict →
