Date of first incident was Nov 19, 2023. I was driving home from taking my elderly mother to the doctor and my engine just shut off. I had plenty of gas, my oil and transmission had been changed, no warning lights came on my dash prior to the engine stopping. The only message I had on my car said the car is not in park. No one can seem to find out why. It has done this at a moderate rate of speed (45mph). My steering wheel locked and I can't steer the car giving me the option to get to a safe place on the road. I have to hit another vehicle or hit a pole. I have good insurance but I don't want to use it to fix body damage. I can't afford that with a 300 dollar car payment. My break sensor error light will come on as well and I went to have the breaks changed and fluid replaced but it doesn't work. I am afraid that I might get hurt or someone else will, but I can't afford another care to help care for my parents or get to the doctor. The Ford dealership will not let me trade it in unless I give them 7000 dollars. The transmission will Jerk when changing gears. I still owe 9000 dollars. I looked online to see if I could find a solution and multiple people are complaining about the same problem.

I got into an accident around May 3rd. Roughly around 11 pm to 12 am. To inform whomever is reading, none of the issues I will list have happened prior to this event. At the accident my car would not turn on, and it would not lock. As well as a piece of the car had broke off. I took my car to Mike's auto body for repairs. When the person inspecting the car had reviewed what was wrong with my 2016 Ford Fusion, I was informed part of the issue was the starter. I was informed by Nick a staff member of Mike's auto body, that the piece was replaced. After I had picked up my car on June 6, 2023 as per the receipt from my payment. The first time the event happened was on around June 6th to June 20th (I know it happened on a rainy Tuesday or Wednesday anywhere from 7am to 8am prior to Thursday June 22nd.) My car flashed "See manual" on my dash board. The air bag light had turned on. My car would not accelerate, the brakes functioned at this point, but when I pulled off the road and parked my car shook. When I had turned my car off, took out the keys, and turned it on again the problem was "resolved" and I was able to continue driving to work. I had called the auto shop and eventually left my car with the auto shop to be safe. The next event happened on Thursday June 22nd at 4:10 pm after I had picked it up from the auto shop when Nick had informed me my car was safe and nothing was reading on the scanner. (I took a picture of the dash board to show the message) and turned my car back into the auto shop. To note, the brakes did not work during this time. The next time it happened was the first time I drove my car again after picking it up from Mike's auto shop. July 1st at 12:47 pm. The same stuff happened. I recorded on video what my car was doing. My car decelerate when my foot was still on the gas, the brakes were not working, hot air out of the ac, car shaking. It happened 10+ times today (7/15/23) after leaving the dealership to fix a recall I have several videos of it

MY CAR WAS SERVICED BY KOONS FORD IN BALT, MD FROM MAY 26TH-28TH TO ADDRESS A RECALL THAT REQUIRED REMOVAL OF MY ENGINE. AFTER THE REPAIR, MY CAR SAT IN MY PARKING SPACE AT HOME THE WHOLE WEEKEND DUE TO COVID-19. ON THE FOLLOWING MONDAY, JUNE 1ST, MY CAR ENGINE EXPLODED ON I83 WHILE MY HUSBAND WAS USING MY CAR TO GO TO WORK. MY CAR WAS COMPLETELY ENGULFED IN FIRE AND TOTALED. FORTUNATELY, MY HUSBAND WAS ABLE TO QUICKLY GET MY CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AS THE CABIN STARTED TO FILL WITH SMOKE AND JUMP OUT. KOONS FORD TOLD ME THAT THEY WOULD "SHRINK WRAP" MY CAR AT THE LOT THE POLICE HAD IT TOWED TO AND BRING IT BACK TO "INVESTIGATE HOW THE FIRE STARTED." THEY LIED AND THEN TOLD MY INSURANCE COMPANY THAT THEY DID NOT CAUSE THE FIRE. IN ADDITION, WHILE I WAS THERE WAITING IN THEIR LOBBY, THEY TOLD ME THEY WOULD "GET ME A RENTAL" IN THE MEANTIME WHILE THEY INVESTIGATE. NOT ONLY DID THEY LIE AND IMPLY I WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR CAUSING THE FIRE, THEY TRIED TO STIFF ME FOR THE COST OF THE RENTAL. ONLY AFTER I PUSHED BACK, THEY FINALLY PAID THE RENTAL BILL. MY INSURANCE COMPANY HAS PAID FOR THE COST OF MY LOST CAR WHICH I NOW AM BEARING ADDITIONAL COSTS IN MY INSURANCE COVERAGE. MY CAR HAD ONLY BEEN SERVICED BY KOONS FORD AND WAS NOT EXPERIENCING ANY PROBLEMS PRIOR TO THEM WORKING ON THE RECALL. I HAVE BEEN WITHOUT A CAR GOING ON 2 MONTHS NOW AS I CANNOT AFFORD TO TAKE ON ANOTHER 4-6 YEARS OF CAR PAYMENTS AS I WAS CLOSING ON A NEW HOME AT THE SAME TIME THE FIRE HAPPENED. I REACHED OUT TO FMC AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD HAVE SOMEONE FROM CUSTOMER SERVICE CONTACT ME WHICH ENDED UP TO BE YET ANOTHER LIE.*DT *TR

MY 18 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING THE FUSION ATTEMPTING TO ENTER A HIGHWAY RAMP (ROUTE 22 IN SPRINGFIELD NJ) TO GO DORM SHOPPING FOR SCHOOL. UPON ENTERING THE HIGHWAY AND ACCELERATING ON THE RAMP THE VEHICLE STALLED AND BECAME UNRESPONSIVE TO ACCELERATION WHILE PRESSING DOWN IN THE PEDAL. THE VEHICLE BEHIND HER BEGAN TO ACCELERATE; THE FUSION THEN LOST ALL POWER, THE VEHICLE STUCK HER IN THE REAR AND PUSHED MY DAUGHTERS FUSION INTO AN ACTIVE LANE WITH TRAFFIC TRAVELING AT 55 MPH AND UP. THERE WAS MINOR AESTHETIC DAMAGE TO THE FUSION. BUT THAT IS NOT MY CONCERN IN THE LEAST! THE FUSION WAS STUCK ON AN ACTIVE HIGH SPEED HIGHWAY, MY DAUGHTER COULD OR SHOULD HAVE EASILY BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED! THIS IS THE DEMARCATION OF A NEAR MISS! THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WITH THE 'WRENCH ICON' THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED TO A LOCAL DEALER. THEN THERE ARE 100'S OF ARTICLES PERTAINING TO INJURIES AND FATALITIES DUE FAULTY THROTTLE BODIES! FORD SALES FAILED TO MENTION THAT DURING THE SALE! I STOPPED AT FORD SERVICE THIS MORNING TO ADVISE THEM OF THE DETAILS OF THE INCIDENT AND THE SERVICE ADVISOR STATED 'AH YEAH GOTTA BE THE THROTTLE BODY' 'HAPPENS ALL THE TIME' 'THERE WAS A BAD BATCH'!

How to use these: a complaint is one owner’s report, filed voluntarily and published unverified. Patterns matter more than any single story. If several owners describe the same failure at similar mileage, put that system at the top of your pre-purchase inspection list. Back to the full 2016 Ford Fusion Hev verdict →
