Rear window spontaneously exploded on July 8th around 11:00am. My truck was parked and not driven for two days. The rear window exploded and shattered. The glass was everywhere, In the truck bed and all over the cab. The seats and carpet have shards of glass embedded in them. I called Tom Masano Ford in Shillington PA. Spoke to Lydia a service advisor. She told me that Ford would not cover the repair/replacement of the rear window. She stated that Ford would not take any responsibility for this safety issue. There was no warning lamps, messages, ect prior to the window exploding. We have an appointment at Tom Masano Ford on Monday July 18th.

WHILE DRIVING MY TRUCK I STARTED SMELLING SMOKE. AS I MADE A TURN I SAW SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE REAR SEAT. I TRIED PULLING OVER ASAP BUT HAD TO DRIVE ANOTHER 100 YARDS. A LOUD BANG WENT OFF WHEN I PULLED OVER. AS I EXIT THE CAR I FOUND MY REAR WINDOW HAD SHATTERED INTO THOUSAND OF PIECES. MY TRUCK SMELL LIKE A FIRE AND WINDOW DAMAGE IS VERY DANGEROUS.

FORD DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS THE REAR DEFROSTER THAT AUTOMATICALLY TURNS ON WHEN USING REMOTE START ...REPLACED ENTIRE BACK WINDOW AND WIRE HARNESS SPLIT COST WITH FORD NOT UNDER WARRANTY '.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD F-150. AFTER ACTIVATING THE REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER, THE REAR DEFROSTER WIRING BEGAN TO SMOKE. MOMENTS LATER, THE REAR WINDOW SHATTERED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FIVE STAR FORD (6618 NE LOOP 820, NORTH RICHLAND, TX) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE DEFROSTER WIRING WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND THE FAILURE WAS REMEDIED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 32,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNDISCLOSED SPEED, THE CONTACT SMELLED AN UNUSUAL BURNING ODOR. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED, THE REAR WINDOW SHATTERED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR DEFROSTER WAS ACTIVATED AT THE TIME THE WINDOW FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HENDERSON GLASS AND THE GLASS WAS REPLACED. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 31,000.
