The contact owns a 2016 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at 35 MPH, the brake pedal went to the floorboard while depressed. The vehicle failed to stop immediately rear-ending another vehicle. No air bags deployed. The contact sustained injuries to his neck and back but did not receive medical attention. A police report was filed. Additionally, the contact stated the vehicle consumed an excessive amount of oil and the key fob failed to function as needed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 85,000.

Engine block exploded with less than 100,000 miles while moving forward after a stop sign, dropped all water through a side of an engine, lost power unable to move from road blocking traffic. Once token into a shop, melted metal was found on the engine cover, and a big hole was found on the engine head. A lot of engine smoke (CO2) was released and got into the cabin getting me sick and feeling dizzy for a whole week

2016 F-150 3.5L 4X4 ECOBOOST WITH MAX TOWING PACKAGE - VEHICLE SUDDENLY AND W/O WARNING CAUGHT FIRE AND ENGULFED IN FLAMES WITHIN 10 MINUTES OF HEARING A HUMMING SOUND AND THEN SEEING WHITE OR GRAY SMOKE. WE WERE TOWING OUR 28 FT TRAVEL TRAILER FOR THE FIRST TIME IN ABOUT 4-5 MONTHS, 30 MINUTES INTO THE TRIP ON A FLAT HIGHWAY. PULLED OVER WITHIN 1 MIN OF HEARING THE NOISE/ SEEING SMOKE. UPON EXITING, SAW FLAMES PEEKING OUT FROM UNDER FRONT OF TRUCK. FLAMES HIT THE CAB WITHIN PROBABLY 3 MINS LATER. WE HAD TOWED A 28 FT TRAVEL TRAILER WITH THIS VEHICLE EXTENSIVELY AND COMFORTABLY WITH FEW ISSUES (EXCEPT THROTTLE BODY FAILURE AROUND 30K MILES). REGULAR OIL CHANGES AND MAINTENANCE. FULL PA STATE INSPECTION 3 MONTHS PRIOR, OIL CHANGE 2K MILES PRIOR. NO OUTSTANDING RECALL WORK TO OUR KNOWLEDGE. NO UNUSUAL HANDLING, SMELLS, LEAKING FLUIDS THAT WE NOTICED, OR WARNING LIGHTS. FIRE INVESTIGATOR'S BEST GUESS WAS SUDDEN TRANSMISSION ISSUE BECAUSE IT COMPLETELY BURNED AWAY BUT WE'LL UNFORTUNATELY NEVER REALLY KNOW.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2016 FORD F-150. CONTACT STATED HE WAS IN HIS HOME WHEN HE HEARD A LOUD EXPLOSION, UPON GOING OUTSIDE HE SAW FLAMES EXITING UNDER THE HOOD OF THE TRUCK. THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES AS THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN THE CAR PORT HIS HOME CAUGHT ON FIRE. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO ALERT HIS FAMILY AND EVERYONE EXITED THE HOME SAFELY. THE FIRE AND POLICE DEPARTMENT WAS CONTACTED. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS ABLE TO EXTINGUISH THE FLAMES. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DRIVEN IN ABOUT A WEEK AND THAT HE HAD PURCHASED THE VEHICLE 4 MONTHS AGO. A POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENT REPORT WERE FILED. THE VEHICLE AND THE CONTACT HOME WERE BOTH DEEM A TOTALED LOSS BY THE POLICE DEPARTMENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE WARE OF THE ISSUES. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 31,000. THE CONTACT HAD MENTIONED HE A FAILURE WITH THE ENGINE BLOCK HEATER. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V894000 (ENGINE). *BF*JB

I WAS COMPLETING A 3 HOUR DRIVE OF APPROXIMATELY 120 MILES (I HAD LESS THAN 5 MILES TO GO TILL I ARRIVED AT MY DESTINATION) WHEN MY SENSORS STARTED LIGHTING UP MY MESSAGE BOARD AND DASH SYSTEM. I WAS IN THE LEFT TURN LANE TO ENTER THE ON-RAMP TO US65 SOUTH WHEN THIS HAPPENED SO I PULLED OFF TO THE SHOULDER TO INVESTIGATE. I HAD JUST PUT MY TRUCK IN PARK WHEN A CAR PULLED UP AND SAID THAT MY ENGINE WAS ON FIRE. WHEN I GOT OUT TO LOOK, THE FIRE WAS ROLLING OUT FROM UNDER THE DRIVERS SIDE WHEEL WELL. AS WELL, THERE WAS EITHER A FLUID OR MELTED PLASTIC DRIPPING DOWN TO THE ASPHALT THAT WAS ALSO ON FIRE. THE FIRE APPEARED TO PUT ITSELF OUT, FOR THE MOST PART, PRIOR TO THE FIRE COMPANY ARRIVING WITHIN THE NEXT 10 MINUTES. I HAD, WHAT I BELIEVED TO BE AT THE TIME, RECALL WORK DONE BY MIKE RAISOR FORD IN LAFAYETTE, IN, LESS THAN 1 YEAR AGO. IN THAT RECALL WORK, I THOUGHT THE BLOCK HEATER WAS DISCONNECTED SO AS TO PREVENT AN ENGINE FIRE SUCH AS THIS. NOW, I AM HAVING DOUBTS AS TO WHETHER THIS WAS COMPLETELY DISCONNECTED. TRUCK WAS IN PARK WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING. NOBODY WAS IN THE TRUCK WHICH WAS ON A SLIGHT INCLINE. IT WAS STANDING STILL IN THE BACK YARD WHILE I WAS TRYING TO GET THE GARAGE DOOR CLOSED. IT TOOK OFF GOING THROUGH A CHAINLINK FENCE, ACROSS A NEIGHBORS YARD, AND CAME TO REST ON A BANK ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE NEIGHBORS YARD. THE FENCE AND BRUSH CAUSED SEVERAL HEAVY SCRATCHES TO THE TRUCK.
