I was just in my second front end collision and for the second time, my front airbags did not deploy. The first instance, I hit a deer head on going 75 mph on the interstate. Last week, I T-bone F150 at 35mph - hard enough to make that truck spin around - and had injuries to my head, knee, and hand, and yet the airbag did not deploy once again. In both cases, my car sustained over $10,000 and damage to the front end.

My 4 runner was hit on the passenger side while crossing a intersection. The truck that hit my 4 runner was going at least 40 miles per hr and was a heavy duty pickup truck. On impact the airbags did NOT deploy but the 4 runner went haywire.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 TOYOTA 4RUNNER SR5. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, WHEN ANOTHER VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP ON A RED TRAFFIC LIGHT, CAUSING THE CONTACT TO IMPACT THE VEHICLE. AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED NECK, SHOULD AND BACK INJURIES. THE CONTACT DID SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION AS WELL AS WAS SOUGHT PHYSICAL AND CHIROPRACTIC THERAPY. THE CONTACT STATED THE OTHER VEHICLE WAS TOTALED BUT WAS UNAWARE IF ANYONE WAS INJURED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A COLLISION SHOP TO HAVE REPAIRS COMPLETED. THE CONTACT CALLED LOCAL DEALER NORTHTOWN TOYOTA (1135 MILLERSPORT HWY, AMHERST, NY 14226) WERE MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED AS OF YET. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF AN UNKNOWN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 4 MONTHS AFTER THE ACCIDENT. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,000.

NEEDED TO USE MY HORN WHEN SOMEONE DRIFTED INTO MY LANE ON THE INTERSTATE. THE HORN DID NOT WORK. I COULD NOT HONK TO INFORM THAT DRIVER TO STAY IN HIS/HER LANE. AFTERWHICH, I TOOK IT TO MY TOYOTA DEALER. THEY DIAGNOSED AND DISCOVERED THE SPIRAL CABLE HAD AN OPEN CIRCUIT. THEY REPLACED THE SPIRAL CABLE ASSEMBLY. FROM WHAT I REMEMBER THEY TOLD ME THIS CABLE ASSEMBLY CARRIED WIRING FOR CRUISE CONTROL, AIR BAGS, HORN AND SOMETHING ELSE. I DO NOT RECALL THE FOURTH ITEM.

PAX SIDE WAS DAUGHTER AND TAKING HER IN FOR MEDICAL TODAY DUE TO COMPLAINTS OF PAIN AND WEAKNESS. POLICE CAME BUT DID NOT ISSUE REPORT.

INDICATED THEY HAD NOT NOTICE MY VEHICLE WAS SUBJECT TO RECALL AND THEY COULD DO NOTHING. THIS WEBSITE DID NOT RECOGNIZE MY VIN NUMBER WHEN PUT IN AT THE START, CALLING MY VIN ENTRY AS INVALID. WITHIN THIS CLAIM FORM IT RECOGNIZED MY VIN NUMBER AS VALID!? I AM UNABLE TO DETERMINE IF VEHICLE IS SUBJECT TO RECALL AND NO NOTICE HAS BEEN SENT TO DEALER. MEANWHILE MY FAMILY MAY BE SUBJECT TO SERIOUS INJURY OR WORSE BECAUSE I AM UNABLE TO DETERMINE IF IT WILL BE RECALLED, AND WHEN. THE WHOLE PROCESS OVERLOOKS THE FACT THAT WE DO NOT HAVE TOTAL CONTROL OVER THE ACTIONS OF OTHER DRIVERS, AND MAY BECOME INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. THE RECALL PROCESS AGAIN REPRESENT THE CONCERN FOR THE COMPANIES INVOLVED AND NOT FOR THE SAFETY OF THE INDIVIDUALS.
