TL* THE CONTACT WAS A LAWYER CALLING ON BEHALF OF HER CLIENT WHO OWNED A 2015 RAM 3500. THE LAWYER STATED WHILE HER CLIENT WAS HAULING HORSES AT AN UNKNOWN RATE OF SPEED, THE STEERING ROD BROKE UNEXPECTEDLY, CAUSING THE DRIVER TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE DRIVER DROVE DOWN AN EMBANKMENT AND HIT A SIGN, TOTALING THE VEHICLE. THE LAWYER WAS UNAWARE IF ANY WARNING LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED PRIOR TO THE FAILURE; THE LAWYER WAS ALSO UNAWARE IF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED UPON IMPACT. THE DRIVER NOR THE HORSES WERE INJURED DUE TO THE CRASH. THE POLICE WERE CALLED AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE LAWYER DISCOVERED AN ACTIVE RECALL ON THE VEHICLE UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V021000 (STEERING); WHICH SHE LINKED TO HER CLIENT'S FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DEEMED A TOTAL LOSS. THE MANUFACTURER NOR THE DEALER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
